We only had a 1 night stay here.
We only had a 1 night stay here. We would definitely have stayed longer. 2 nights would have been lovely. However, upon arrival we were greeted at Reception by 2 lovely people. Immediately we were poured a refreshing sparkling drink and after a little bit of banter were shown to our room. The room opened out onto a small terrace which looked on to the Lake. The sound of the water lapping up towards was so tranquil. The room was beautiful. A large bed with a porthole window above it with the light shining through from the en suite. The room was extremely comfortable. Complimentary Water, cookie, crisps and dark chocolate. Tea making facilities in the room with real milk in the fridge... After we settled in we made our way to the Spa where we had Back Massages booked. The staff here were so nice and after an initial consultation we were taken for our treatments which were very well received. We then went downstairs to the Infinity pool. Such a treat. We had booked the Hot Tub after that. Off we headed in our robes again outside where there was a beautiful wood burning stove. Rhian showed us down to the Hot Tubs and after he filled glasses with Proscecco he left us to 39 minutes of pure bliss. The rain was pouring down but we were in heaven in our 40 degree plus Heat of water. We had our meal booked for 8.45pm. However we arrived early to the bar for a drink where we were shown menus and our order was taken. Once we were shown to our table the food was out in a jiffy. No waiting around here. Our meal was delicious washed down with a Fantastic recommendation of a bottle of wine. Although we hadn't room for dessert our server arrived out with a beautiful treat for us as we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. What a lovely thoughtful touch. All in all we'd a lovely stay and would certainly return.Guest review byMartinaIreland - 6.0

Lanesborough is a boring town with few facilities and average pubs. There is now a decent coffee shop where the butchers was, but of course there is now no butchers. There is a mini supermarket which is OK but nothing special. The saving grace is that it is on one ‘corner’ of Lough Ree so has water frontage and nicest views, but they don’t make the most of it. The blot on the landscape is the disused power station that looms over the town, the sooner that is dismantled the better. Locals are pretty friendly and welcomingGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Waldo and his family were very welcoming and willing to help. Everything was great. Superb warm comfortable room. Spotlessly clean. I really enjoyed the shower experience, it was just amazing and exceptional. The family offered a full Irish breakfast and the value is exceptional. I recommend the property for families or group. We' ll be back.Guest review bykawayaSouth Africa - 10.0

Small town with awesome history, from Sean's pub to Maisies (live music) to the Viking riverboat (we had some "real" Vikings come on board which took the whole ride to a new level! The food in town was awesome, especially the place along the river, eating a great pizza with a beer (or two) while watching the boats slide by was wonderful.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0
None of us had been here before.
None of us had been here before. We did the river tour to Clonmacnoise with Hidden Heartland tours, and despite the awful weather when we were there, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We ate at Thyme restaurant for one of the nights - fabulous. We now have some very good memories to cherish in the future, from the accommodation, tour and meal.Guest review byNoeletteIreland - 8.0

Really lovely area along the Shannon where it opens into Lough Ree. Lovely coffee place called Lanesbrew. Lovely restaurant called the Wooden Spoon. Couple of pubs. Lovely walks along each side of the river and a forest walk. There is a Supervalu in town for shopping. No bank and needs pedestrian crossing Lovely lively marinas and a great boat trip with 'access for all' allowing those in wheelchairs have access to being on Lough Ree. Everyone friendly. Fairly central on Longford Roscommon border so great as a base to explore. Great spot and easy to get to. Everything in town within walking distance. Big downside is a huge power plant which is ugly but modern. You do stop noticing it but is not pretty.Guest review byMaryp49Ireland - 10.0
We only stayed one night on our way from Donegal to Kerry.
We only stayed one night on our way from Donegal to Kerry. The hosts were very welcoming and engaging. It was on an organic small farm. The room was well appointed with en suite shower room and we enjoyed breakfast sitting with the hosts with an interesting conversation. We enjoyed our stay.Guest review byGerryUnited Kingdom
