I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I can confidently rate it a perfect 10. It’s truly a great place to spend your holidays, especially if you’re a beach lover, as it’s conveniently close to the beach. One of the highlights of my stay was the stunning rooftop terrace. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the rooftop terrace restaurant personnel were attentive and provided exceptional service throughout my meals. It was an unforgettable dining experience. The hotel staff, from the cleaning crew to the receptionists, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and cater to my needs. I felt like a valued guest from the moment I arrived. What sets this hotel apart is its proactive management. They were always one step ahead, ensuring that everything ran smoothly during my stay. They were also incredibly supportive when a minor issue arose during my stay, handling it promptly and professionally, which left a lasting positive impression on me. In summary, this hotel is a hidden gem for a perfect holiday getaway. With its proximity to the beach, a breathtaking rooftop terrace, and a staff that’s both friendly and efficient, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a true 10 out of 10 experience, and I can’t wait to return.

One of the best boutique hotels we ever stayed in. The historical façade is charming and the interior is fully modern and renovated. The rooms are spacious. The bed and the pillows are very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent. The staff was very nice, always accommodating our requests. And there is the possibility of parking your car in the hotel, which is very rare in Italian historical cities. I strongly recommend staying here if you go to Lucca!

Staff -especially wonderful and always helpful Elizabeth. Thank you for your attention and care you put in your daily work. It is remarkeble and recommended. Pool and its clean condition every day ! Fan in the room ! I can hardly imagine life without its functioning. Rooms are equipped in very basic stuff, refigerator and fridge worked well, but the groundfloor rooms were quite dark, so we spent most of the time outside. Very nice and easy to comminicate cook ! Good and eadible stuff to order at the restaurant. Other families and guests very nice to each other. Young kids and some dogs - all ok, not disturbing.

Great location right in the middle of nature, with amazing views of the Tuscan hills. The facilities are extremely well maintained inside and out. The flat was gorgeous with two big terraces, with all the amenities you need, and we also had a hydromassage tub which was a nice surprise. The staff was attentive to details and always eager to help with big smiles on their faces. They clearly want to make sure you are well taken care of :) and we surely were!

Beautiful views, the pool was amazing, the ‘Diacceroni’ pizza was the best I’ve ever had. I loved how you could buy products from reception- pasta, sauces, wines, cold drinks, olives etc. We were there for both of the Pizza and Pasta parties which were a lot of fun and the owners were lovely and the staff were super friendly and always smiling.

Most people seem to come to Pisa to take a picture of themselves holding up the Leaning Tower, but there is a lot more to see than that. For a start, nearly every building dates back to the Middle Ages, so the city is full of architectural quirks. Romanesque churches abound. I particularly recommend the Diocesan museum (entry as part of the combined ticket for the cathedral) and the National Museum at San Matteo. The latter seems under-visited, but it contains the most amazing medieval paintings and sculpture.

As one of many hilltop towns we visited, we found Volterra to be a favourite. Perhaps less flashy in the Etruscan style, It was also quieter than most towns and the vibe was more artisan focused than tourist focused - Still friendly, but shopkeepers seemed just as focused on working on their craft as they did wooing customers into buy it. We found this refreshing and perhaps a different glimpse into everyday life. We found Rich Steves' description of Volterra very accurate.

If you’re looking for the *real* Tuscany — peaceful,...

If you’re looking for the *real* Tuscany — peaceful, authentic, and still untouched by mass tourism — San Miniato is a hidden gem you shouldn’t miss. Perched on rolling hills and surrounded by lush countryside, this medieval town offers a slower, more genuine way of experiencing Tuscany. Think olive groves, vineyards, quiet farmhouses, and some of the best local restaurants where tradition is still alive. What makes San Miniato truly special is its balance: you get tranquility and nature, yet you’re perfectly connected. Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Siena are all within easy reach, making it an ideal base for exploring the region without the chaos of crowded tourist hubs. Whether you’re here for the food (don’t miss the famous truffles), the landscapes, or simply to unwind, San Miniato gives you that rare feeling of discovering a place that’s still real. A perfect choice if you want Tuscany as it used to be — authentic, beautiful, and quietly unforgettable.

Were there off-season: very few people, many places closed, lots of free parking space everywhere! Rather complicated access to the beaches. Beware of leaving bikes, even if locked in remote places, the tyres of our bikes had been punctured, probably in preparation to be stolen later at night. Else, wonderful natural beaches nearby and other natural reserves.

The city of Marina di Pisa itself is not so much worth seeing, but the beach is amazing for a suburb of Pisa. The water is so clean and blue, we really enjoyed. There are also very good restaurants in Marina di Pisa and excellent ice cream. I can recommend the restaurant "C'era una volta" which is close to the hotel. Sometimes you have to reserve a table for the next day because it is so busy at lunch time.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The staff were so attentive and helped us with our travel plans to Florence by train. They even went to great lengths to help us with a toll issue, following up with us when we returned to Ireland. The location is perfect to explore Tuscany, as well as Pisa and Florence. The area is so peaceful, with no sound of traffic, only the birds in the morning. Very clean and lovely decor. We will not hesitate to rebook here when we return to Tuscany for wedding planning over the next year or so, particularly due to its proximity to Pisa airport.

Pisa is a very beautiful town, lots of interesting streets and spaces and of course the Cathedral and Tower are stunning. It's an easy town to navigate and you quickly feel familiar with the narrow streets and open piazzas. The light and the architecture are beautiful to photograph and it changes as the day progresses. I love the faded colours on the walls and the paint peeling on the window shutters. There's so much more to Pisa than the leaning tower and it rewards you if you go exploring away from the tourists. We also took a couple of trips to nearby Lucca, only 30 mins by train and a real medieval gem of a small town. Don't miss it! There's also a fantastic Natural History Museum in Calci. It's a 45 minute bus ride from Pisa but well worth a visit. The public transport is cheap and easy to use so don't be put off exploring the area, both the bus and train service websites are straightforward. There's lots to enjoy about Pisa!

A beautiful little town to vitit in one day but a tourist trap in some ways.Mediocre glass of wine for €9 and platters with mediocre cold cuts and cheese platter. Let me give a little advice to the many tourists who want to discover Italian food: GO TO THE SOUTH (I want to say that I am not from the south), it's a little weird to see so many tourists eating pizza in Tuscany. What I really liked is their local “ little salty” beer. Of course there many beautiful places not very far from Volterra worth to visit: Siena, Certaldo, San Gimignano with much nicer sorroundings (obviously it's my personal opinion).
