This lovely hotel in the centre of the historic town of San Gimignano was just perfect for our one night stay. Our arrival and check in was seamless and the reception staff were very helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable and the shower/bathroom was fabulous. But the star of our stay was the breakfast! The choice was huge and served by the loveliest staff! The panoramic view from the breakfast room was breathtaking - it was very special to have a leisurely breakfast taking in the incredible views.

Best location! Center of the city. But quiet safety and clean place. Very convenient everywhere you want to go. Nice restaurant near here, so if you drink too much, don’t worry, enjoy nice food and wine.😋 Staffs are very friendly and gave me important and precise information for me as quickly as they could. Thanks!

Everything was wonderful, and the location of the property was fantastic. The breakfast was excellent – everything was fresh and very tasty. We especially appreciated the typical Italian products, giving an authentic local experience. Every day we enjoyed delicious Italian coffee, the perfect start to the morning. Overall, breakfast was a real highlight of our stay. Our flight was delayed, but the property allowed us a very late check-in (around midnight), a great convenience for us. We are very grateful for this flexibility and for the warm welcome despite the late hour

Exceptional stay! Would highly recommend especially for female solo travelers. The building was situated in a great location, and was easily accessible based on the directions given by the hosts. The room was very spacious, luminous, kept clean and warm. All the necessary facilities were taken care of. The toilette was clean and equiped with everything you might need. Felt very safe throughout the whole stay, especially considering that the entrance hall was supervised by cameras. Surely I would return for a second stay.

Our first stop in our road trip and couldn’t have had a better start to our vacation. Marco was very pleasant. The room, or better yet apartment, was way better than the pictures, extremely clean and very well organised. The location was also great, in the heart of the lovely village of Montescudaio! We certainly recommend it and hopefully be back soon!

Waking up in the middle of nowhere, with only green surroundings and an olive grove in front of the terrace already made the stay perfect for me. The spacious rooms also helped. A bonus is you're very close to Forcoli where there's this tiny classic Italian Bar Pasticceria Antica Piazza Di Bove Pasqualina Sas. Find it on google maps and thank me later.

We were hier in Oktober 2023. The room was wery clean and quiet. The breakfast was very good. The supper was gut but a little bit expensive, I think. We have parked on the street near the hotel. It was okay and free. The staff was good (only one waiter during the supper was a little bit strange :-) )

Pisa is relatively small compared to Rome snd Florence. It has a rich history and everything is very accessible. The river Arno runs through and provides fine views and lends the town atmosphere. Resturants are plentiful and varied with helpful staff. Pisa has good and plentiful shops and varied vistas and views. All easily accessed on foot.

As one of many hilltop towns we visited, we found Volterra to be a favourite. Perhaps less flashy in the Etruscan style, It was also quieter than most towns and the vibe was more artisan focused than tourist focused - Still friendly, but shopkeepers seemed just as focused on working on their craft as they did wooing customers into buy it. We found this refreshing and perhaps a different glimpse into everyday life. We found Rich Steves' description of Volterra very accurate.

If you’re looking for the *real* Tuscany — peaceful,...

If you’re looking for the *real* Tuscany — peaceful, authentic, and still untouched by mass tourism — San Miniato is a hidden gem you shouldn’t miss. Perched on rolling hills and surrounded by lush countryside, this medieval town offers a slower, more genuine way of experiencing Tuscany. Think olive groves, vineyards, quiet farmhouses, and some of the best local restaurants where tradition is still alive. What makes San Miniato truly special is its balance: you get tranquility and nature, yet you’re perfectly connected. Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Siena are all within easy reach, making it an ideal base for exploring the region without the chaos of crowded tourist hubs. Whether you’re here for the food (don’t miss the famous truffles), the landscapes, or simply to unwind, San Miniato gives you that rare feeling of discovering a place that’s still real. A perfect choice if you want Tuscany as it used to be — authentic, beautiful, and quietly unforgettable.

Were there off-season: very few people, many places closed, lots of free parking space everywhere! Rather complicated access to the beaches. Beware of leaving bikes, even if locked in remote places, the tyres of our bikes had been punctured, probably in preparation to be stolen later at night. Else, wonderful natural beaches nearby and other natural reserves.

A beautiful little town to vitit in one day but a tourist trap in some ways.Mediocre glass of wine for €9 and platters with mediocre cold cuts and cheese platter. Let me give a little advice to the many tourists who want to discover Italian food: GO TO THE SOUTH (I want to say that I am not from the south), it's a little weird to see so many tourists eating pizza in Tuscany. What I really liked is their local “ little salty” beer. Of course there many beautiful places not very far from Volterra worth to visit: Siena, Certaldo, San Gimignano with much nicer sorroundings (obviously it's my personal opinion).
