- From $224.76 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 302 reviewsWe had an incredible stay—everything from start to finish was thoughtful and seamless. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle from the station, which made our arrival stress-free. Upon check-in, we were welcomed with a cold drink and a traditional Japanese sweet, along with salt candies thoughtfully placed on the table—perfect for the summer heat. The check-in process was the best we've ever experienced: we sat comfortably in the lounge, which offers a stunning view, while a staff member kindly walked us through all the information in detail. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, complete with a private bathroom and a small terrace with real green grass overlooking Tatadohama Beach. It was a truly peaceful and scenic space to unwind. Dinner and breakfast were both exquisite. The staff provided English explanations for each course, making the experience even more enjoyable and accessible. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for exceptional hospitality, comfort, and a memorable seaside escape.Guest review bySvetlanaJapan
- From $464.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 86 reviewsEverything was exceptional. The traditional building was beautifully maintained and every corner was photo worthy. The staff were friendly and took very good care of us. Our room was beautiful and spacious, we had a wooden tub in our bathroom to soak in and amazing garden views from the windows. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Onsens were wonderful and each one had its own charm and feel. The place is a short walk from the bus stop and next to the bridges and bamboo grove, allowing easy access in the evening. The stay at this ryokan was definitely a highlight of our Japan trip and we’d love to stay here again.Guest review byHsuanNew Zealand

The host and his wife were wonderful and so hospitable. They are some of the nicest people we have met on our trip! They even came to pick us up at the station and drove us to a late lunch after when they found out we had a long day and hadn’t eaten. We also enjoyed the peaceful surroundings! Thank you so much for making our stay for our son’s graduation at ISAK even more memorable😃Guest review byIreneUnited States

Nagoya is a treasure for eating and shopping.
Nagoya is a treasure for eating and shopping. LOTS of great restaurants. There's the science museum, the Toyota museum, and Nagoya Castle. No "authentic" neighborhoods to explore, though there is an ethnic shopping street near Kamimaezu Station. There are lots of traditional Japanese coffee shops "kissaten" to relax in if that's your thing. If you venture away from downtown there are places like Shirotori Gardens or Arimatsu on the historical Tokaido Road which was a center of indigo dyeing. No restaurants though in the 800 m length of the neighborhood.Guest review byBalibari2015United States - 10.0

Kanazawa is incredibly beautiful and felt like an underrated gem when we went there, as there were virtually no other tourists and the city was very calm and quiet. Lots of things to do, see and explore, and it kind of gives off similar vibes to Kyoto (with the historical districts and the river flowing through the city) but without the crowds. We had an amazing time there and would definitely return. We mostly walked everywhere because every street was gorgeous to look at. I recommend to visit the Kanazawa Castle and the garden next to it, the historical chaya districts (there are multiple) and the Oyama Shrine grounds. The city also offers amazing museums, which are worth a visit as well!Guest review byMariaGermany - 10.0
Ropeway and boat trip was good.
Ropeway and boat trip was good. We hired bikes from Jays as they shut later than the others and went to the Chureito Pagoda, Fujisan World Heritage Center, and then cycled round the lake stopping at Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum, Oishi Park and Yamanashi Gem Museum.Guest review byBerthaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Takayama is a jewell in the mountains.
Takayama is a jewell in the mountains. Small, walkable, ( around the city or in the mountains ), has great food, friendly people… There are plenty of day trips from Takayama. We could not go to the valley to try onsen ( heavy rains ) and went to the Green hotel instead - the onsen there was, surprisingly, beautiful and relaxing. The train journey from Takayama to Kyoto is spectacular ( sit on the left side ) - amazing views of the mountains and the river.Guest review byMariaSpain - 8.0

I've been extremely lucky, I was in Niigata after a snowstorm and I found an amazing scenery of beaches under a white carpet. The fisherman market is an experience you should not miss, delicious food and crazy cheap bill. Try to drive the coastline!Guest review byMastershifuChina - 10.0

Absolutely loved Nagano, so friendly and clean and easy to get around. We lucked out and arrived when the the dance festival was on which was really fun. There are lovely restaurants, good shopping and it’s easy to get around. The old part of the town and the temple are beautiful. We took the bus to see the snow monkeys as well which was worth every penny, even though it was 30 degrees they were still in the onsen, it was magical!Guest review byPippaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Shizuoka is a hidden gem.
Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.Guest review byMarkAustralia - 8.0
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us.
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible optionGuest review byBrigidAustralia - 10.0
People there are very helpful and courteous.
People there are very helpful and courteous. It is very clean, and uncongested. Quiet and peaceful, unlike the other cities. I highkt recommend pairing Toyama and Tetayama, i.e. 3 and 2 nights respectively . Simply amazing.Guest review byWangSingapore
