We loved this place: it was probably the nicest (and most spacious) room during our 4-week journey in Japan. The staff was very friendly. The bar/kitchen staff was exceptionally nice and prepared the best coffee we got in Japan. The traditional Japanese-style breakfast set was also delicious. We stayed one night in Onomichi as a starting point for the biking tour Shimanami Kaido, and we can only recommend it.

The location is within walking distance to the Atomic Bomb Memorial, and Honduri shopping street with plenty of shops and eateries. Traveling from Hiroshima train station to the hotel has a bus service with a bus stop almost right in front of the hotel. The staff are very helpful, polite and professional. The breakfast at 25th floor has a good variety of food especially the Japanese selection, and a fantastic view of the city.

The location of the hotel was really good, very near to the Peace Memorial Park, the Castle and more. Many restaurants, shops, supermarkets within a few minutes walking. We got a room with a sensational view of the Hiroshima Castle and the beautiful surroundings which was very clean and comfortable. The staff was exceptional friendly and helpful. A lovely city with plenty of art, history, and delicious food. Oysters, lemons, okonomiyaki, etc. Miyajima Island was a delight and Hiroshima Castle was fascinating to see. On a more somber note, visiting the Atomic Bomb Memorial and the Peace Museum might be a little emotionally overwhelming for some people, but it was a valuable experience. Make sure to have plenty of time to go through the park and the museum. The local restaurants and izakayas were welcoming and chatting with locals was a lot of fun. I would have liked to visit more cafes in Hiroshima, but didn't have enough time. Overall, it was a short but good trip and I'd like to visit the city again sometime.

It isn’t a typical tourist destination from my understanding but the gardens by night are absolutely stunning. The casual is also beautiful and I’m sad to have missed the pottery class. Food and bars also exceptional - everybody is particularly friendly, and perhaps less used to accommodating tourists. Coffee: Empire coffee roasters. Friendly service and outstanding coffee. Food: Hidaya Yanigamachi. Grill your own delicious meat. Drink: ichigin. Super friendly and will involve you in conversations even if you don’t speak Japanese.

Only spent one day at the end of our trip which was enough to basically shop and wander the historical area which I think is the main attraction anyway. Beautiful, scenic, clean, historic. And we loved Yoshii Ryokan in the heart of it all. Definitely worth a visit.

    Fantastic scenery and food.

Fantastic scenery and food. Check out the beaches to the North but don't worry about the local mountain lookouts. They were all atrocious one lane roads in bad condition which only took you 3/4's of the way up the mountain which was then followed by your needing to walk another 1000 steps or more to get to the top. Good if you want the cardio but terrible in the middle of summer.

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.

It’s a little off the main tourist route, which is why it’s worth a visit. In November the weather was great. It was easy to visit the castle and grounds and a bus trip to Tomonoura was great way to spend the day. A little fishing port famous for being in films and again not too busy. In Fukuyama a visit to the Clock and auto museum is like entering an Aladdin’s cave of wonders. It’s full of the past and not just cars and clocks. Lots of small owner run restaurants as well.
