I really liked that before arriving the staff made sure to update me on check in procedures and asked if I had a vehicle or not. Since I was walking, they kindly offered me a ride from Kumanoshi Station or Odomari Station! I also greatly appreciated being driven to the supermarket to buy dinner before heading to the accommodation. Upon arrival, they served cheesecake and apple juice as well as gifted me an oni trinket as a souvenir upon check in. The cheesecake is homemade and very delicious! I love how this is family run and they were very helpful giving walking trails and sites to see around the area. In addition to the above, everything about the check in process, additional information, and even prior check in messages had English translations and messages, which I greatly appreciated.

From the moment you enter the lobby, you know you’re somewhere grand. The reception from the staff is top notch. The lobby is beautiful with stunning floral displays. The staff are incredibly polite and helpful. Always smiling even when they’re working very hard, and they do a lot of that. Our room, 536, was a corner room with incredible views out two sides. The breakfast buffet, even for a strict vegetarian, was delicious. The lounge on the second floor had completely beverages and snacks, both sweet and savoury, all day long. Excellent bonus. You are also permitted to use their other hotel lounge which is a few minute walk away, on the fifth floor, with stunning 360 degree views.

This is a small ryokan in Nabari. The value was excellent as we had both breakfast and dinner. The food was very filling. The onsen was just off the shared bathroom and wasn’t great. There weren’t many others staying there so we had the bathroom to ourselves when we used it. You can lock the door when you are using it. The staff was very friendly and spoke pretty good English. They were very helpful. We stayed there in order to do the Akame 48 waterfalls. This was a perfect 4 hour hike. We loved that but Nabari itself wasn’t very interesting. Having our meals at the hotel was super. If you want dinner arrange it beforehand by message if it is not already included. It was not expensive and was almost too much food! The bed is a tatami on the floor which is very firm compared to a bed. That took some getting used to. Overall this hotel was a real experience of how Japanese travel. Not fancy but everything we needed.

I loved how spacious and comfortable the rooms were—it felt like a home away from home. The wooden bath was a standout feature, with its unique, soothing wooden aroma that created such a memorable experience. The traditional Japanese breakfast was another highlight—it was delicious, beautifully presented, and a perfect way to start the day. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the property.

The room is spacious with bright interior lightings. Other facilities are more than adequate as a professional business hotel. You can enjoy the view of the Ise city and the railway towards Tsu/Toba if you can get a room in higher floors, which gives you the unique Japanese vibe. Shuttle service to Iseshi station is provided every 20 minutes during the day. You can take advantage of that to continue the journey either by train or bus at the station.

    We loved our trip here.

We loved our trip here. Little did I know, I seem to enjoy travelling in a pretty laid-back city and Ise was just perfect for that. If you're craving for a small city experience, out from the other international travelers, I'd recommend Ise for sure.

Tsu is actually my 2nd least favourite city in Japan.

Tsu is actually my 2nd least favourite city in Japan. I was only staying there because it was the only place I could get a hotel for my trip in the Ise area. Despite not being a huge city, it is quite unfriendly to pedestrians and there's honestly not too much to enjoy in the city as a tourist. The busses do work really well and are unlikely to get stuck in traffic because of how unnecessarily wide (4 lanes) the main road is. Trains in Mie in general are a little difficult to understand as a tourist (even as one that speaks and reads Japanese quite well) so you need to be careful when relying on Google Maps and you're probably best off just going to a MAIN station (like Tsu Station) and making your decision when you get there. The Yuki Shrine that I went to years ago was nice and there's a decent art museum if you like that kind of thing, but neither of these things are terribly unique. I have however had the best burger of my life in this city (at a place called Both Rich) and the hotels I have stayed in this city have been good and good value for money too.

Shima is more rural Japan, and there is many nice scenerie.. There is even very nice surf beach (Kou Shirahama), where i have visited many times. Best in summer/autumn for surfing, but beatiful all year round.. You can rent boards for example from Le Ba Surf. Pearl road is good to drive with scenic spots and Anori and Daio has few lighthouses with stunning views. Also if you like pearls, there is a lot of pearl industey around and you can buy pearl jewelries etc. You absolutely need a car to get around properly, it is rural, and access to most places is just by car.

Suzuka is a little bit off the normal tourist route. It's nice to walk around neighborhoods and rice fields, have a night at the Aeon mall shopping, and enjoy a city amongst real Japanese families. Transportation around the city is easy to navigate with bus and trains.

Excellent room with nice views. Lounge service is great. Very good range of drinks and nibbles. We had a dinner at the restaurant (Mondo misaki) which served amazing courses. The most of ingredients are from the local and they were carefully prepared. So good. Onsen spa is relaxing and enjoyable.

The attractions are walkable and the paths/streets are interesting. The relationship of the city with water is fascinating - flood control, water harnessing, water transport - and can be seen on the various infrastructure and parks. I enjoyed visiting and checking out Rokkaen and Kyuka Park.

    Loved the city!

Loved the city! I always dreamt of visiting the "Ninja City" to visit all the cultural places there! Had the chance to go to the Akame 48 Waterfalls, Iga-Ueno Castle, the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum, Matsuo Basho's memorial museum, had nice meals in traditional local restaurants such as Tenrakuza Wakaya, and had a great opportunity to visit an amazing antiques shop called Kobijutsuhin Ooyabu Shokodou( 古美術大薮尚古堂), where the store owner showed me swords, spears, armors, pottery, and jitte! Definitely a nice city to visit if you love the Ninja Culture and Japanese History!

It was Ocean`s Day long weekend, granted it was still rainy season, but there seemed to be nobody in town. I had the swimming beach to myself (but the showers had already closed by 5 PM) There seemed to be no tourists or tourist shops nearby. It felt like a ghost town with all the derelict hotels. I wish it had more of a beach resort vibe with little shops nearby. The seafood was excellent at our hotel. (Shima = fishing town, not so much a resort town). If the sky were clear, I bet you could see the stars well from Shima.

We stayed here after visiting Ise Jingu. Really enjoyed the open air onsen, and the spacious tatami room. Toba is a VERY small town and very quiet with not much to do. Ate some great seafood at a local restaurant. Only stayed in Toba one night before taking the ferry and driving back to Tokyo.
