It is a great, relaxing and quiet place. The rooms are nice and spacious. We just stayed for 2 nights, but could have stayed longer (but didn t had the time). We could have bicycles for free, I mean they not great but ok to get to Vat Phou. The restaurant is really good, Really enjoyed the food and luckily they had nice vegetarian options. Very helpful staff, organized our tickets to Don Det easily.

Wow! What a perfect stay. I loved it at Residence Bassac. Recently refurbed the place glows with care and is spotless. I couldn’t decide at first on a double with river view or the two story with balcony and was very happy with the later. Super spacious with a great layout and furnishings. AC is strong and lots of great little touches including turn down service. The staff were very helpful and friendly, arranging a scooter, tuktuks and airport taxis. The restaurant has a beautiful open setting to the street and river. And best of all Vat Phou is about 20mins away. I’d gladly stay again, sad to go!

The hotel was exceptional. The room: Very comfortable, quiet, very clean and the bed was very big with a great mattress for a good night sleep after a long day of exploring. The staff: Extremely helpful and professional. I wanted an early check-in and my room was ready in 20 minutes. I wanted to rent a motorbike and they had it delivered in front of the hotel in 15 minutes. Always with a smile, they did their best to make your stay great. The location: Pakse is a city with not much to do in the city center. The hotel was in a location not far from the center but it was also in a great location to begin exploring the many beautiful sights of the Bolaven Plateau, which is basically the reason you want to visit Pakse in the first place. Lastly, I would also like to add something about the owner, Mr. Tuan, who is an exceptional man. He was so helpful and nice, sometimes he made you feel like family. It was a hotel, but he did everything so that it didn't feel like a impersonal hotel stay. For example he invited me to their hotel staff New Year's party, where everyone treated me like a friend with countless beers and lots of food. He even drove me to the airport with his car the day I left, without asking for anything in return. Always helpful always with a smile.

The breakfast buffet was small but gave a wide variety of options. I got to try some Laotian food I have never had. They also had western options. The sky bar was a nice way to end each night. In the room, the beds were big and soft! Lastly, the staff was friendly and helped us out as much as they could. Definitely staying here again when I visit Pakse.

Staff was welcoming and very accommodating. They were able to set up a private tour of the ancient temple for us. All the service was amazing. This is a GORGEOUS RESORT and a perfect place to celebrate a honeymoon, anniversary or birthday. The beautifully appointed rooms are set in a tropical forest amidst rice fields for a serene setting. Beds and linens are of superior quality. The spa services are top notch and reasonably priced. Food was beautifully presented and many choices available. The most perfect resort of our entire trip!

We stayed in one of the floating studios. It’s on the water with amazing sunsets and moonlight views reflecting off the water. Views r to die for in the deck and from the bed! Everything is clean and the bed is lux. It’s so worth it watching the boats go by while swing on the deck or lying in bed.

I enjoyed that everything was in walking distance. The local people are very nice and helpful. The local food was delicious, and the environment was a relaxing atmosphere. If you get lost any local would help you with directions or even take you to your destination. Pakse had many Buddhist monuments that you can walk into and explore and take pictures. Wonderful little city would like to come again.

Suitable for backpackers with lots of time and a chill state of mind. Getting there is not easy and there's really not that much to do once on the island other than just chill. I came during "high season" yet the island was still pretty empty. It's a great place for couples or groups of friends arriving together, not so much for solo travelers.

I was in Champassak during the Wat Phou Festival which was great and interesting and then returned for one night after being in the 4000 Islands before heading north. The Temple are marvellous and would like to see it without all the tourists and festival goers but I enjoyed the festival particularly the opening and the Alms Ceremony for the monks. We went down the Wat Oum Tomo by a small private boat - a 2 hour trip each way around the island, but it was well worth it. Champassak is peaceful and encourages relaxation although I found bicycling in the rice paddies gave me insight into country life. My most vivid memory is sitting by the Mekong and watching the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen over a river that was as still as glass.

A still very authentic village on Mekong's largest island.

A still very authentic village on Mekong's largest island. There is nothing much to do, but this is the village's special charm. You sit in one of the lovely restaurants along the Mekong, you let your gaze wander over the river any you watch the fisherman. The pace in this village is very relaxed, people are very friendly and all you have to do is to relax as well. I highly recommend you to visit the morning market at the edge of the village. It is very special and you should come very early, at around 6 am.

This is a quieter location than the more popular southern islands of Don Det and Don Khone. What I loved here is the quiet, less garbage and less tourist jadedness of the locals which I experienced on my visit to the southern isles. One day I rented a scooter and rode around the whole island and really enjoyed it! If your aim is the waterfalls, kayaking, and lots of tourist facilities, this might not be the place for you. However, you can get down to the waterfalls from here by private boat which takes about 1.5 hours and a beautiful experience as well.
