The chalet was one of the best accomodation throughout my trip in Sri Lanka. The chalet was made entirely of wood, which brought a very cozy, relaxing environment to wind down. Attached with a verandah, it was a suitable place to unwind facing a river. The cleanliness was top notch, and our host Sithum was very welcoming - even with freshly made welcome juice late at night! P/S: The room had a bluetooth spekaer which was a first encounter for me :)

This was a real treat. There were only 4 people in the entire resort at the time, since we came at the end of Easter vacation and the begining of the wet and shoulder season. The grounds are gorgeous, the garden, wonderful, the staff was very helpful and nice, and we had an upgrade that was not short of royal: I truly thought that we entered a several-room bungalow whereas it was our room! A room with a patio and a front and a side terrasses. Monkeys playing in the trees in the morning. The nature is very present and lush and beautiful. We went on a hike which we couldn't finish, since we've discovered a new species we had never met before: leeches. My daughter freaked! But it was an experience. She very much enjoyed the pool, overlooking the valley, and I booked an ayurvedic massage, which was the best I had in Sri Lanka. The man had very skilled hands. It is a place to get lost into, it feels last the days of yore, an estate to spend peaceful days. Unfortunately it wasn't our case, since we booked only a night, thereby shortening a safari that would have been (accurately so!) too long had we stayed an extra night. So it was an stop-by in between locations, booked a bit last-minute. Our next destination was Amba Estate, one of the few existing estates rolling tea by hand, with a social purpose since it has very good labor conditions and employs the villagers, thereby creating a strong community. I would recommend as well, it's not that far, on the other side of the mountain, hence "on the way" toward Ella, where we jumped on a train to our next adventures. Thank you again for having us and allowing such a beautiful stay. I also had the best cocktail and we both enjoyed our meals!

We had the most magical stay at 98 Acres Resort & Spa, where we got engaged! From the moment we checked in, the blessing was such a special touch that made our arrival unforgettable. Sudarshan went above and beyond with his attentive service, making everything seamless and personal. We also loved the yoga session on the helicopter pad — such a unique and serene experience. The entire resort is stunning, blending luxury with the natural beauty of the surroundings. If you’re looking for a truly memorable getaway, whether for romance or relaxation, 98 Acres is simply perfect. We can’t wait to return!

We loved our stay at the Hill Safari. The views were spectacular, the staff made us feel very comfortable and welcome and the room was everything we needed. The food was also delicious and they gave us many new year treats to try. They recommended some great walking routes, talking you through the route with a hand drawn map!

Context: I did a safari tour, so spent 12 days in rural areas and in national parks. This part of Sri Lanka I highly recommend. Then I felt it necessary to do some 'cultural touring' on my own in the hill country: Kandy, Nuwarra & Ella. This part of my trip was a waste of time. The scenery surely was interesting, but the entire experience was spoiled by the weight of tourists and the focus on exploiting them. Traffic was unbearable in all three locations. Every point of interest was almost spoiled by tourist traps and touts & souvenir stands etc etc. How disappointing. Even the famous train to Ella was overcrowded and frankly a bit over rated. Ella, like the other places, just spoiled by tourist exploitation: the 'rock show' that surrounds the 'famous' bridge was unexpected, although the path to stroll down there was a nice walk. The walk up to Little Adams Pk was a joke: a virtual gauntlet of Tuks, souvenir stands and speeding four wheel drives; capped off by the most outrageous theme park of a pool resort and 'adventure playground' full of influencers and other shallow, self-indulgent types. Nearly spoiled the walk and view. Not quite, but it was a margin call! I perched myself in a restaurant for dinner overlooking the hellish chaos of Main Street, just marvelling at the tourist trap it's become. That was quite enjoyable. My advice: skip the hill country all together or travel very quickly through it: tourism has thoroughly ruined it.

Sure.

Sure. Here is a natural travel-style version you can use for a review, caption, or post: ### What should you visit in Haputale? 🌿⛰️ If you are planning a trip to Haputale, there are plenty of beautiful places to explore. The area is surrounded by mountains, tea plantations, waterfalls, and amazing viewpoints. Some places worth visiting are: 📍 **Lipton’s Seat** One of the most famous viewpoints in the area. The view of the tea plantations and surrounding mountains is beautiful, especially in the early morning. 📍 **Adisham Bungalow** A peaceful and beautiful historical place surrounded by greenery. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the cool weather. 📍 **Diyaluma Falls** One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka. It is a little further from Haputale, but definitely worth the trip. 📍 **Thangamale Bird Sanctuary** A great place for nature lovers who enjoy walking through forests and seeing different types of birds. 📍 **Tea Plantations** 🍃 Do not miss the chance to explore the tea estates around Haputale. The scenery is beautiful and the cool mountain weather makes the experience even better. 📍 **Haputale Viewpoints** Sometimes the best views are found simply by exploring the roads around Haputale. Stop somewhere safe, enjoy the mountains, and take in the scenery. If you love **nature, mountains, cool weather, and peaceful places**, Haputale is definitely worth visiting. 🌿❤️

The climate was cool and the views were spectacular. Best place to shop for groceries and fresh produce is Cargill Opposite the old post office in the town centre. Had difficulty in finding Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. And almost impossible to find places that offer freshly brewed Ceylon tea. People are friendly and willing to help. Accomodation is cheaper in Bandarawela. Hence it makes sense to base your self here and explore neighbouring places like Ella, Diyathlawe and Haputale .

Badulla is a beautiful and peaceful town surrounded by green mountains and stunning natural scenery. The cooler climate and relaxed atmosphere make it a nice place to explore and spend some time away from busy city life. There are plenty of interesting places to visit around the area, and the drive through the mountains itself is enjoyable. The town has everything you need, including restaurants, shops, and local markets. Overall, Badulla is a lovely destination for anyone who enjoys nature, mountain views, and a slower, more relaxing atmosphere.

Beautiful view, large modern clean room with spacious balcony, nice bathroom. Staff are excellent, very accomodating and food (we ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel) was really good. Pool was nice )there were two part- one heated on request) We only stayed one night on our way from Marissa to Ella, but would have stayed longer for just this hotel. We did not walk or explore the immediate area (it is quite hilly, use your driver or a tuk tuk). Would highly recommend the hotel, it was lovely.

My trip to Bandarawela was a memorable experience, combining the town's quaint charm, stunning natural landscapes, and the welcoming atmosphere of the local community. The food in Bandarawela offers a delightful mix of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and fresh local produce. Highlights include spicy curries, coconut-based dishes, and an array of tropical fruits, all reflecting the region's rich culinary heritage.
