The property seems to be brand new, clean and well thought through. Super close to the centre and the beach. All the restaurants are also a walking distance away. The hotel is tucked away so the street parking in front of it worked well for us. With a nice pool, lots of fairly lights and well-taken care of territory - we really enjoyed our stay. Kitchen was equipped with all the basic utensils. When we felt like we want something specific for breakfast - we cooked at home. If we felt lazy - we could grab a nice, simple breakfast from the hotel. All the staff were incredibly helpful!! A huge plus was very polite, instant contact via Whasapp. Anything we asked for - we were provided with that. 10/10 stay - loved it!

Puerta Del Cielo is a hidden gem that truly deserves five stars. My recent stay left me thoroughly impressed and utterly relaxed. From the moment I arrived, the owners warm and attentive hospitality made me feel like royalty. They were always ready to assist with any request, ensuring that my experience was stress-free and enjoyable. The location of Puerta Del Cielo is nothing short of breathtaking. Perched along the pristine coastline, the views of the ocean were absolutely mesmerizing. Watching the sunset from the private terrace was a daily highlight, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a soothing lullaby every night. The accommodations were not only comfortable but also beautifully designed. The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings added a touch of elegance to the entire experience. The villa I stayed in was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully appointed, making it a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The pool area was a wonderful place to unwind and soak up the sun with an amazing view of the ocean. Puerta Del Cielo exceeded all my expectations. It's a paradise where you can disconnect, rejuvenate, and appreciate the natural beauty of the Yucatan Peninsula. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful getaway, this place has it all. I can't recommend it highly enough, and I'm already planning my next visit.

Olbil is a beautiful oasis in Valladolid. Lovely room, very quiet, and stylish and delicious restaurant; the best Mezcalita of the trip so far. We had dinner and excellent breakfast there. Very helpful staff everywhere. Secure car parking. Very quiet, they are strict about no noise after a certain time so we slept very well. We spent two nights there which felt like enough time to see Chichén Itzá and visit some cenotes.

There's a lot of great things about this hotel: the location was superb, the room was great and decent space, the breakfast was from delicious a la carte selection, staff were super polite and friendly, free car parking offered and just the overall vibe is fantastic. They created this small oasis of a place and though the pool is tiny, you still feel relaxed in its overall ambiance. Calzada de los Frailles (a beautiful colorful street full of shops and restaurants) is just 2 minutes walk away from the hotel and must not be missed while in Valladolid. Some people might not like the idea of double door bathroom, one of which is a glass door leading to outside patio, though still private to your room, but for us we absolutely adored it. Oh and they do have two lovely cats!

Merida is the second safest city in North America.

Merida is the second safest city in North America. Safer than any city in the U.S. Second only to Quebec, Canada. And for the same reason: an indigenous population speaking its own language (Mayan), where crooks can't come and hide. And it's one of the oldest cities in the Americas. Great history, and a great base to visit the wonderful old Mayan cities nearby. It does get quite hot in the summer so consider visiting in spring, fall and especially winter. Wonderful people wonderful food, a must visit addition to your bucket list. If you go, you'll go back every year.

Progreso is just an amazing town.

Progreso is just an amazing town. If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta, I think Progreso feels like PV back when Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were wandering around. A little less crazy busy, a little smaller, a little more town than city. People are awesome, the Yucatan culture is very present and it has a different vibe than the Atlantic side. The Gulf Of Mexico is truly a guilty pleasure. We spent hours in that warm bath water. Progreso has great people. great food, great sites, a great beach, and a wonderful Malecón/Boardwalk combo. The boardwalk side is on the other side of the Pier and it is also awesome with a different vibe. It has a local family feel and an amusement park. Just a great stay. Chichen Itza is a well attended Mayan Ruin - there are many tour buses arriving and plenty of guides to hire to share some of the more important buildings within the complex. We ended up with a small guided group for English speakers and learned about 3 of those buildings. Plenty of food/drink stands inside and a plethora of vendors throughout the complex.

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site. Lots of large sites to see and you can wander at your own pace. It was my favorite of the sites we visited on the trip. Tickets and entry could be clearer and signage at sites in Mexico is always lacking, but the quality of the ruins and architecture is fantastic. The scale, intimacy of the visit, and amount of ruins is superb.

This colonial city is a hidden jewel.

This colonial city is a hidden jewel. I “discovered” it 11 months ago and have already been here on 3 occasions. The people of Merida all glad we are here and it shows. The food is beyond belief! Five stars ⭐️ and affordable. But above all, this is a very safe city with a treasure trove of cultural treasures readily shared with visitors. Wear comfy shoes if you (like me) love to walk and peek around. If you can’t, no worries. Taxis and Uber are very affordable. Hot in the summer and cool nights in winter but overall very pleasant. Clean, safe, beautiful and historic. MERIDA IS SIMPLY AWESOME.
