The staff was exceptional, they helped us right from the start and showed us to our room. They even made us an early breakfast as we had to leave at 7am. There are a lot of plants outside, which we loved. The room is clean and well equipped and we liked the fact that cups and glasses were sealed with wrap. Location is just great.

This place is amazing, with a 5 star hotel service. Very good and reasonably priced food at the restaurant. A single portion of a continental breakfast is good enough for 2 people. Free short shuttle ride from the Tren Maya station, 100 Pecos to everything else. Currently its is a 10 min drive to the archeological site but it will become much shorter soon once a new main access point to the site opens in a few months (1km from the hotel).

From the moment I arrived, the owners warm and attentive hospitality made me feel like royalty. They were always ready to assist with any request, ensuring that my experience was stress-free and enjoyable. The location of Puerta Del Cielo is nothing short of breathtaking. Perched along the pristine coastline, the views of the ocean were absolutely mesmerizing. Watching the sunset from the private terrace was a daily highlight, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a soothing lullaby every night. The accommodations were not only comfortable but also beautifully designed. The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings added a touch of elegance to the entire experience. The villa I stayed in was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully appointed, making it a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The pool area was a wonderful place to unwind and soak up the sun with an amazing view of the ocean. Puerta Del Cielo exceeded all my expectations. Me and my girlfriend loved this place. It was better for me than the pictures. The rooms were simple but well designed and timeless. The lobby was warm and greeting. Access to the pool was right out our bedroom door. The pool was clean and well lit while it was open till 10 and food and drink service at the poolside restaurant/bar was delicious. We had 2 Yucatan style authentic tacos and they were delicious. All of the staff were very kind and friendly and made us feel extremely welcome and taken care of.

Authentic Mexican environment, delicious traditional Yucatán food, excellent service from all the lovely staff. We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend it. The view from the room was amazing and it had a hammock! It is 25 mins away from progresso and 10 mins away from the archeological site.

The city has many interesting cultural features, less so than other Mexican cities such as Puebla and Oaxaca. However there is much to be experienced near at hand outside the city. Historical sites and beaches among them.

There are many very colorful vintage buildings We went on a walking tour of the city center Main Cathedral, a Cenote and a huge public Market. Was enjoyable and lots to see. It is a great starting point for visiting Chichen Itza and Uxmal.

Over all the stay was great, hacienda was beautiful staff was not the best customer service! Waiters were great receptionist were not attentive perhaps they made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome! Would I go again yes! Hacienda was beautiful, and I will definitely go back just because of the comfort, and I would like to spend more time to enjoy the pool and peaceful feeling. I would also go back to try the spa, si ce I didn’t have the time. If I go back and I receive the same customer service from receptionists might go to another spa!

Progreso is just an amazing town.

Progreso is just an amazing town. If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta, I think Progreso feels like PV back when Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were wandering around. A little less crazy busy, a little smaller, a little more town than city. People are awesome, the Yucatan culture is very present and it has a different vibe than the Atlantic side. The Gulf Of Mexico is truly a guilty pleasure. We spent hours in that warm bath water. Progreso has great people. great food, great sites, a great beach, and a wonderful Malecón/Boardwalk combo. The boardwalk side is on the other side of the Pier and it is also awesome with a different vibe. It has a local family feel and an amusement park. Just a great stay. I recommend El Cuyo.

I recommend El Cuyo. It’s very laid back with a great Caribbean feel. It’s perfect for a short vacation and being in a biosphere you get to see lots of birds (flamingos being the most prevalent) and dolphins. It’s easy to take a boat excursion and end up on a long stretch of white sand beach with lots of shells and have a wonderful picnic of fresh ceviche made with fish caught that morning. That was a highlight.

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people...

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Izamal is a visually stunning town as well, photographers will love it so don't forget your camera! And the food was delicious everywhere we went. My friend had never been before and we both want to go back.

I did not visit the town of Santa Elena but stayed at the Pickled Onions Hotel as a base to visit the nearby ruins of Uxmal. I think Santa Elena makes an excellent location for anyone that would like to visit both Uxmal and Kabah as these are just few minutes away by car

Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site. Lots of large sites to see and you can wander at your own pace. It was my favorite of the sites we visited on the trip. Tickets and entry could be clearer and signage at sites in Mexico is always lacking, but the quality of the ruins and architecture is fantastic. The scale, intimacy of the visit, and amount of ruins is superb.

Merida is a must-visit for anyone who likes Mexico.

Merida is a must-visit for anyone who likes Mexico. Probably my 8th visit over 40 years, (gulp)! In most ways, Merida feels the same as the 1980's, especially Old Town, the Market. Then there is the special and wonderful, big and dramatic street called Paseo Montejo, which is in very good, restored condition these days. Inexpensive Taxies are everywhere. Merida also has a good airport accessible from many American cities,
