Our family (two adults and two young adults) stayed in a spacious room over Christmas 2024. Very neat and nicely designed room with balcony, large comfortable beds, pool view and a big kitchen with table and chairs where we had our breakfast, played cards and just hung out. The hotel is very good located just 1-2 minutes from the beach and 5 minuters to the pueblo center with shops and restaurants. Joaquín, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and so is the staff who served a nice breakfast in our room every day. The pool area is also very nice with sun-beds surrounded by white sand. It will be even more cozy as soon as the newly planted palm trees and plants have grown up a bit. El Cuyo has some good restaurants, a very vast and quite empty beach (with no vendors 👍🏻) and many colourful rural paintings. We can really recommend staying at Mexhe Hotel if you are planning to go to this small hidden gem, El Cuyo.

From the moment I arrived, the owners warm and attentive hospitality made me feel like royalty. They were always ready to assist with any request, ensuring that my experience was stress-free and enjoyable. The location of Puerta Del Cielo is nothing short of breathtaking. Perched along the pristine coastline, the views of the ocean were absolutely mesmerizing. Watching the sunset from the private terrace was a daily highlight, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a soothing lullaby every night. The accommodations were not only comfortable but also beautifully designed. The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings added a touch of elegance to the entire experience. The villa I stayed in was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully appointed, making it a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The pool area was a wonderful place to unwind and soak up the sun with an amazing view of the ocean. Puerta Del Cielo exceeded all my expectations. It's a paradise where you can disconnect, rejuvenate, and appreciate the natural beauty of the Yucatan Peninsula. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful getaway, this place has it all. I can't recommend it highly enough, and I'm already planning my next visit.

I don't understand anyone's concerns about this place. It's a beautiful 500 year old hacienda, obviously there are tiny things. But the rooms are renovated, everything works well, the pool is clean and the birds are singing all day and night. It's a lovely place to stay at!

Merida offers frequent events and festivals, as well as having plenty of historical buildings. There is a plethora of restaurants and hotels to satisfy every traveler and an outgoing ex pat community. It's easy to take a side trip to ruins or cenotes. You don't need a lot of Spanish, but polite phrases are very appreciated. If you are there for a longer trip, check out the Merida English Library. They not only have books, but classes and tours.

Charming, walkable city with a cenote available for a refreshing swim. Lots of street vendors selling great sandwiches, fruit and beverages. We enjoyed a "waffle cone" type treat from a street vendor one evening. Lots of holiday activities available in the nearby town square. This city was a perfect destination from Cancun and accessible to Coba, Tulum, Chichi Nitza. Our trip was short but this visit was an absolute highlight.

Over all the stay was great, hacienda was beautiful staff was not the best customer service! Waiters were great receptionist were not attentive perhaps they made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome! Would I go again yes! Hacienda was beautiful, and I will definitely go back just because of the comfort, and I would like to spend more time to enjoy the pool and peaceful feeling. I would also go back to try the spa, si ce I didn’t have the time. If I go back and I receive the same customer service from receptionists might go to another spa!

Progreso is just an amazing town.

Progreso is just an amazing town. If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta, I think Progreso feels like PV back when Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were wandering around. A little less crazy busy, a little smaller, a little more town than city. People are awesome, the Yucatan culture is very present and it has a different vibe than the Atlantic side. The Gulf Of Mexico is truly a guilty pleasure. We spent hours in that warm bath water. Progreso has great people. great food, great sites, a great beach, and a wonderful Malecón/Boardwalk combo. The boardwalk side is on the other side of the Pier and it is also awesome with a different vibe. It has a local family feel and an amusement park. Just a great stay. We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people...

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Izamal is a visually stunning town as well, photographers will love it so don't forget your camera! And the food was delicious everywhere we went. My friend had never been before and we both want to go back.

I recommend El Cuyo.

I recommend El Cuyo. It’s very laid back with a great Caribbean feel. It’s perfect for a short vacation and being in a biosphere you get to see lots of birds (flamingos being the most prevalent) and dolphins. It’s easy to take a boat excursion and end up on a long stretch of white sand beach with lots of shells and have a wonderful picnic of fresh ceviche made with fish caught that morning. That was a highlight.

Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site.

Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site. Lots of large sites to see and you can wander at your own pace. It was my favorite of the sites we visited on the trip. Tickets and entry could be clearer and signage at sites in Mexico is always lacking, but the quality of the ruins and architecture is fantastic. The scale, intimacy of the visit, and amount of ruins is superb.

I did not visit the town of Santa Elena but stayed at the Pickled Onions Hotel as a base to visit the nearby ruins of Uxmal. I think Santa Elena makes an excellent location for anyone that would like to visit both Uxmal and Kabah as these are just few minutes away by car

It was our base for exploring Chichen Itza, the Cenotes and Izamal, but mostly we were there to attend a wedding. Many good restaurants nearby. Progreso beach about 40 minute drive away, very lively like CopaCabana beach. Uber easily available and very reliable and cheap
