We had an amazing stay at Casa Tía Micha. The staff was incredibly attentive, especially Tere, who made us feel truly welcome. The property is beautifully maintained and captures the essence of staying with a Mexican host. Our room was spacious, sparkling clean, and very quiet. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and more than enough to keep us satisfied. The location is perfect: the Main Plaza is just around the corner, and iconic spots like Calzada de los Frailes are within easy walking distance. If you are planning to visit the charming town of Valladolid, I highly recommend staying here!

Our family (two adults and two young adults) stayed in a spacious room over Christmas 2024. Very neat and nicely designed room with balcony, large comfortable beds, pool view and a big kitchen with table and chairs where we had our breakfast, played cards and just hung out. The hotel is very good located just 1-2 minutes from the beach and 5 minuters to the pueblo center with shops and restaurants. Joaquín, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and so is the staff who served a nice breakfast in our room every day. The pool area is also very nice with sun-beds surrounded by white sand. It will be even more cozy as soon as the newly planted palm trees and plants have grown up a bit. El Cuyo has some good restaurants, a very vast and quite empty beach (with no vendors 👍🏻) and many colourful rural paintings. We can really recommend staying at Mexhe Hotel if you are planning to go to this small hidden gem, El Cuyo.

Puerta Del Cielo is a hidden gem that truly deserves five stars. My recent stay left me thoroughly impressed and utterly relaxed. From the moment I arrived, the owners warm and attentive hospitality made me feel like royalty. They were always ready to assist with any request, ensuring that my experience was stress-free and enjoyable. The location of Puerta Del Cielo is nothing short of breathtaking. Perched along the pristine coastline, the views of the ocean were absolutely mesmerizing. Watching the sunset from the private terrace was a daily highlight, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a soothing lullaby every night. The accommodations were not only comfortable but also beautifully designed. The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings added a touch of elegance to the entire experience. The villa I stayed in was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully appointed, making it a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The pool area was a wonderful place to unwind and soak up the sun with an amazing view of the ocean. Puerta Del Cielo exceeded all my expectations. It's a paradise where you can disconnect, rejuvenate, and appreciate the natural beauty of the Yucatan Peninsula. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful getaway, this place has it all. I can't recommend it highly enough, and I'm already planning my next visit.

There's a lot of great things about this hotel: the location was superb, the room was great and decent space, the breakfast was from delicious a la carte selection, staff were super polite and friendly, free car parking offered and just the overall vibe is fantastic. They created this small oasis of a place and though the pool is tiny, you still feel relaxed in its overall ambiance. Calzada de los Frailles (a beautiful colorful street full of shops and restaurants) is just 2 minutes walk away from the hotel and must not be missed while in Valladolid. Some people might not like the idea of double door bathroom, one of which is a glass door leading to outside patio, though still private to your room, but for us we absolutely adored it. Oh and they do have two lovely cats!

Stunning resort - the site is extremely peaceful, with thoughtful reuse of historic details, and the villas feel very private. Bicycles and the early morning coffee are a lovely touch. Merida is a wonderful, safe city in the Yucatan away from the beach tourist community. Great food, colonial architecture, and access to Maya ruins and a mellower coast. We had a exquisite meal at Yerba Santa Merida. Be sure to see the flamingos in Celestun, the ancient city of Uxmal, and take a dip in a cenote. Best to have a bunch of pesos for out of the city excursions.

I liked the place a lot and remember liking it during an earlier visit several years ago. Options for lodging and eating are available at all price points. It is very walkable but reasonably priced taxis are plentiful.

We were here many years ago and arrived at 8am to enjoy a quiet site. Now while still a wonderful site, it is crowded from opening time with coaches arriving at 10am. No access to any buildings - We climbed before but numbers and safety preclude that now It is hotter and all the grass has gone so its dusty. Many souvenir stalls everywhere make it colourful perhaps but change the atmosphere. Most people will still want to visit this iconic site which is still amazing with the large number of buildings. My advice is go to Uxmal instead - much quieter, more access, cooler, no souvenir stalls. Allow time there and you can stay close by and then visit 3 other sites easily

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people...

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Izamal is a visually stunning town as well, photographers will love it so don't forget your camera! And the food was delicious everywhere we went. My friend had never been before and we both want to go back.

Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site. Lots of large sites to see and you can wander at your own pace. It was my favorite of the sites we visited on the trip. Tickets and entry could be clearer and signage at sites in Mexico is always lacking, but the quality of the ruins and architecture is fantastic. The scale, intimacy of the visit, and amount of ruins is superb.

I did not visit the town of Santa Elena but stayed at the Pickled Onions Hotel as a base to visit the nearby ruins of Uxmal. I think Santa Elena makes an excellent location for anyone that would like to visit both Uxmal and Kabah as these are just few minutes away by car

for people who like to be adventurous and out of the beaten...

for people who like to be adventurous and out of the beaten path and experience nature (Flamingo etc) in a very quiet and still authentic place, before it the usual developers spoil it all. We ate in tiny restaurants full of locals with great food.
