All the staff at the hotel were exceptional especially Jorge and Daniela. The property is extremely well maintained. The gardens are stunningly beautiful. The food at the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced and the restaurant staff very attentive. We really enjoyed feeding the turtles in the turtle garden and seeing the beehive. The cave under the hotel was very unique. We had a great stay and would highly recommend it.

Perched along the pristine coastline, the views of the ocean were absolutely mesmerizing. Watching the sunset from the private terrace was a daily highlight, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a soothing lullaby every night. The accommodations were not only comfortable but also beautifully designed. The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings added a touch of elegance to the entire experience. The villa I stayed in was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully appointed, making it a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. The pool area was a wonderful place to unwind and soak up the sun with an amazing view of the ocean. Puerta Del Cielo exceeded all my expectations. Absolutely beautiful hotel in a great location, about 10 minute walk to the main square. Staff were so lovely, especially Eduardo. We were upgraded and given vouchers for a free margherita which were delicious. Breakfast was the best we had in our 3 weeks stay in Mexico. Room was lovely and the bed was super comfortable.

Me and my girlfriend loved this place. It was better for me than the pictures. The rooms were simple but well designed and timeless. The lobby was warm and greeting. Access to the pool was right out our bedroom door. The pool was clean and well lit while it was open till 10 and food and drink service at the poolside restaurant/bar was delicious. We had 2 Yucatan style authentic tacos and they were delicious. All of the staff were very kind and friendly and made us feel extremely welcome and taken care of.

Stunning resort - the site is extremely peaceful, with thoughtful reuse of historic details, and the villas feel very private. Bicycles and the early morning coffee are a lovely touch. Authentic Mexican environment, delicious traditional Yucatán food, excellent service from all the lovely staff. We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend it. The view from the room was amazing and it had a hammock! It is 25 mins away from progresso and 10 mins away from the archeological site.

There is a great selection of good quality restaurants and cafes to choose from. There are cenotes aplenty nearby and it is a great place to stay before going to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam - a 45 minute drive to both. It's a very walkable town - we loved mooching up and down Calzada de los Frailes.

Chichen Itza is a well attended Mayan Ruin - there are many tour buses arriving and plenty of guides to hire to share some of the more important buildings within the complex. We ended up with a small guided group for English speakers and learned about 3 of those buildings. Plenty of food/drink stands inside and a plethora of vendors throughout the complex.

Progreso is just an amazing town.

Progreso is just an amazing town. If you have ever been to Puerto Vallarta, I think Progreso feels like PV back when Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were wandering around. A little less crazy busy, a little smaller, a little more town than city. People are awesome, the Yucatan culture is very present and it has a different vibe than the Atlantic side. The Gulf Of Mexico is truly a guilty pleasure. We spent hours in that warm bath water. Progreso has great people. great food, great sites, a great beach, and a wonderful Malecón/Boardwalk combo. The boardwalk side is on the other side of the Pier and it is also awesome with a different vibe. It has a local family feel and an amusement park. Just a great stay. I recommend El Cuyo.

I recommend El Cuyo. It’s very laid back with a great Caribbean feel. It’s perfect for a short vacation and being in a biosphere you get to see lots of birds (flamingos being the most prevalent) and dolphins. It’s easy to take a boat excursion and end up on a long stretch of white sand beach with lots of shells and have a wonderful picnic of fresh ceviche made with fish caught that morning. That was a highlight.

We loved Izamal, it's such a beautiful city and the people are super friendly. Even the guy selling fresh juice in the town square was really friendly, yelling out good morning. Izamal is a visually stunning town as well, photographers will love it so don't forget your camera! And the food was delicious everywhere we went. My friend had never been before and we both want to go back.

I did not visit the town of Santa Elena but stayed at the Pickled Onions Hotel as a base to visit the nearby ruins of Uxmal. I think Santa Elena makes an excellent location for anyone that would like to visit both Uxmal and Kabah as these are just few minutes away by car

Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site.

Spent about 3 hours at Uxmal site. Lots of large sites to see and you can wander at your own pace. It was my favorite of the sites we visited on the trip. Tickets and entry could be clearer and signage at sites in Mexico is always lacking, but the quality of the ruins and architecture is fantastic. The scale, intimacy of the visit, and amount of ruins is superb.

The city has many interesting cultural features, less so...

The city has many interesting cultural features, less so than other Mexican cities such as Puebla and Oaxaca. However there is much to be experienced near at hand outside the city. Historical sites and beaches among them.
