- From $168.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,357 reviewsWe got upgraded from a suite to a deluxe room and we scored! It was heavenly! Our bed looked out to the ocean and mountains. We wished we could have stayed a second night. Our best accommodation in Norway! I would go back in a heartbeat. Only problem is the cost of a deluxe room is prohibitive. The hotel saved us when it told us to leave our car the night before the ferry to Vesterlen. There just isn't enough space on the ferry for the volume of cars.Guest review byLisaUnited States

The area surrounding the hotel is simply magical, breathtaking beauty steps away. The best place to stay in Sommaroy, don't look for alternatives, there's none. We stayed in other guest houses in Sommaroy, and there was no match to this majestic hotel. We stayed for three nights and extended our stay.Guest review byTanyaUnited Kingdom

We came for the midnight marathon as the principal drive for our visit but had a couple of days before to look around. We should have done it the other way round as we could not enjoy the sight seeing as much because of fretting about the run. I think our favourite thing were the seals at Polaria though. The city is very walkable but the scooters are easy to pick up if you have had enough. Unfortunately the cable car up the mountain overlooking Tromso was under repair and I was looking forward to going up it. I thought this was odd timing as they new a lot of people would be coming to the city for the race...Guest review byKirstenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten.
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport. And once you do... it can be magic.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0

Very picturesque island, two days is more than enough to explore it. Sunshine is a rarity. End of season mid August. Place for camper vans to park. One shop and one cafe. You can buy only beer in a shop, no alcohol. For a harder spirits you need to travel to Tromso. Bring your food if you can, shops sells very simple and not very good staff. More or less decent meal you can have in an arctic hotel, which is pricey and just ok, no more, choice is limited.Guest review byTanyaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Torsken is beautifully situated, but the road there is terrible and ends in the village. When visiting other parts of Senja, you have to drive back and forth over the mountain on the poor road. Nevertheless, Torsken is definitely worth a visit, and the quality of the facilities offered by Senja by Heart is high.Guest review byHans Peter BechDenmark - 10.0
Bought a 24 hour bus pass.
Bought a 24 hour bus pass. Was really easy to navigate to cathedral, botanic gardens, tromso museum, airport. Central downtown is very easy to walk around, harbor is pleasant. We got a rental car to explore outside the city after that for 5 nights before flying on. Would recommend getting out to the city also as there is much beauty within an hour - however you chose to do that.Guest review byHenryUnited States - 10.0
The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (...
The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (though some bits are) but the area around the city has some great scenic walks and of course the outlook across the sea/bay is stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the blue hour of the winter days. Lots of buses run regularly to outlying areas and there are fast buses to the airport to connect with flight check-in times. Take a walk along Stien langs sjøen (path along the shore) to the Trondenes Historical Museum (great wee cafe there) and the Adolf cannon from WW2.Guest review byFraserUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Iconic arctic city. Good people.
Iconic arctic city. Good people. Feels a little like it's geared up for American cruise ships; the main street has 7-11s and the world's most northerly MacDonalds and several giant souvenir stores. And, boy, is it hard to get a reasonably priced vegetarian meal? Still, the library building is something to write home about, and the tunnels and underground car park are just remarkable.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 4.0
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice.
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice. Its one kilometer dangerous road and much heavy traffic. Taxi cost: 350 :- for drivning 3 minutes. We booked to be near the airport so it was a disapointment.Guest review byKatarinaSweden
