VERY comfortable hotel in a truly perfect location. Beautiful view overlooking the lake. Close to town for selection of restaurants and shops. Outstanding breakfast. (Try the French toast!!). Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Really lovely and welcoming staff. Great facilities including an onsite restaurant and bar, which also did breakfast - we loved being able to get room service too! We also really enjoyed using the swimming pool and tennis court. And it was super helpful having access to a laundry room which was very reasonably priced.

Really nice and clean, friendly staff, decent breakfast. Water available for free in a water cooler. Room was quite nice as well, got the suite and it had a small kitchen and was very comfortable. Good location as well.

Amazing Breakfast, excellent service!! Enjoyed also restaurant for sometimes lunch or dinner, and have an excellent choice on menu, delicious food and fresh choice every day from the market!! Room was lovely, comfort bed, great view over Taupo and bathroom just stunning !!! Loved all the stay!! Everyone so nice, always with a smile and helpful!! Can recommend it 100%!!

    Taupo is a family friendly destination with many activities available around the lake. However it can be very busy during popular season such as the Christmas break, so making a plan to visit in advance would be my recommendation. We love Taupo, and it will be somewhere we keep coming back.

    Turangi is a beautiful, scenic location and the people are...

    Turangi is a beautiful, scenic location and the people are very welcoming and friendly. We were impressed by the service and choices at the Hydro Cafe, the Flytackle shop and the NZ Post shop. We also enjoyed the Pihanga Gallery showcasing local art and crafts and a delicious Italian meal at Valentinos. It was beautiful in late autumn and we'll visit again.

    Cambridge is a beautiful town.

    Cambridge is a beautiful town. Growing larger but retains its lovely main street with good angle parking and a roomy pull out lane. Love the many shops and good places to eat. Many side streets to explore and the lake is a beautiful place for a walk.

    Whitianga is a lovely town and felt more relaxed than Whangamata but had all the facilities you would need. The coastline around the area is just ridiculously beautiful. Whitianga was a great base to explore from. I would happily go for another visit.

    The main point of our trip was to visit Hobbiton Movie Set. This is an amazing experience, our second trip. Have done both the lunch & dinner experience. Food, staff & experience rate a 10. Had a great meal at Sofra, food & staff were great. Breakfast at The Rich Coffee Cafe was nice and the staff were ok. Visited the I-Centre too and found the staff to be helpful.

    We booked an excursion with The Legendary Black Water Rafting Experience Waitomo Caves and it was amazing! Our guides, Garret & Alicia, were fun, helpful, informative, and made sure were were safe in the cave & the water; this is is a must do! They take pictures for you because it would be impossible to float in a tube & take pictures yourself.

    Thames sure has improved since we were last time several years ago with regard to the town centre. Some great shops. Good Pak n Save supermarket. Waterfront is attractive and trip up the coast to Coromandel is fantastic - gorgeous NZ scenery
