We had to book it last minute due to road closures cutting us off from our reserved hotel. We got in late at night and the night manager was extra helpful. He carried our three heavy bags to the second floor for us, as the was no elevator. Beds were very comfy.

The last resort should be your first port of call at Karamea! Excellent value. Comfy, clean and spacious with wonderfully friendly staff. The bar and pool room are warm and welcoming and the meals in the restaurant are delicious! Fabulous value for money. We will definitely stay here anytime we come back to karamea.

    Loved this place. Very laid back vibe. Don’t expect anyone to fawn over you for being a tourist in the best way. Gorgeous views of the lake from up on the hill. We had a duplex. It was perfect for our family. The balcony was really fantastic. The lake is massive and gorgeous. The property is a short uphill walk from the Trans Alpine Train, which is a must do if you can.

    Besides being in a perfect location, very well kept grounds and friendly staff they took great care of us. Our reservation was messed up, nobody fault really but we were not able to get the room we reserved, so instead of arguing about it they immediately upgraded us to the best lodging available for no extra charge, and it was amazing! Great place, great stay!

    I loved everything about my stay in the cabin at the Beach Camp. It was so cozy, stylish and Spotlessly clean. The staff make sure the shared bathrooms and kitchen are clean and provide a nice environment for everyone to gather. It rained so hard the morning I had to leave and they gave me a ride to the bus stop - so kind! Thank you!!

    Due to the death of our mother our accommodation dates needed to be changed, the owner was very understanding and allowed us to change our dates and even upgraded our rooms at no extra cost. The owner was very helpful and lovely. Would definately go back.

    So much to see and do. I will ensure that we spend more time there on our next visit. Highlight was Scenic Helicopter trip to the Glacier flying with Ken from Heliservices. NZ. Make sure you finish off your day with a private soak at Waiho Hot Tubs.

    We came to Greymouth on the Tranz Alpine train from Christchurch. Excellent trip. Lovely river walk and great restaurants and cafes in the central town. An easy town to explore on foot. Lots of local history about the town. Definitely recommend Greymouth for a short stay.

    We stayed in Chief Henshaw 3 bdrm apartment. There was 5 of us so little compact! Although it was for 1 night only so suited our needs. The place is beautifully appointed and ideally located within walking distance of good eating and the beach.

    I loved how time stood still. very relaxing, a beautiful natural environment with clean crisp air. Friendly locals. Betty Janes was a great place for dinner definitely try the Deep sea orange roughy. Friendly obliging staff. 10/10 Breakfast at the cafe lake matherson spot on too!

    Westport always delivers no matter what the weather. So many things to see & do including fantastic walkways & cycle rides. After any good ride, a great place to have a beer is at the Shortjaw brewery.

    We didn’t go into the town of Haast, but were just outside, on the road to Jackson Bay. After the crowds and bustle of other towns, Haast Beach was a welcome change. If you like expansive, empty beaches, with great walkability and rock collecting, this is the experience for you.

    The perfect location for a quiet, peaceful stay right in the middle of the Nikau Forest!. The beds were comfy and there was everything you needed in the kitchen. We stayed in Ruru Lodge, plenty of room for me and my friend in our bedroom. A good size lodge which is a little tired, the bathrooms need an upgrade. Really good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

    Reefton is a lovely town.

    Reefton is a lovely town. The river hydro walk is enjoyable as to the local pubs. Dawsons provides a good meal. The new Pizza parlour Bassano makes great pizza, though I thought the wine was overpriced. Accomodation were I have stayed, both great places. Different price points but neither can be faulted. Harold House and The Old Vicarage.

    Suzanne the owner was so lovely and bent over backwards to help us. We had a lot of washg and she was happy for us to use her facilities. She recommended to us a lovely place to have dinner right by beach, but unfortunately was closed that night so went into town. The unit we stayed in was lovely, very tasteful, very comfortable with everything we needed. We wd totally recommend this place to others, and if we are ever in Westport again wd want to stay there.     The staff were very friendly and chatty. The cleaner told us we didn't have to move out of room fast as she got other rooms to do. 👍🏻Also the cleaner answered my questions about area. Population at school etc. I would totally recommend this place. 👍🏻
