- From $186.85 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 88 reviewsLast week I went to one of the cabins in China Creek Cottages and it was memorable. It is set up in a peaceful natural environment, and delivers rustic charm with modern comforts. The cabin was vibrant, designed with warm wood interiors and large windows for natural light. The place was really clean and thought out with cozy seating, a most comfortable bed, and attractive decoration that gives both homey and elegant feels all at once; very restful on chilly evenings. I will revisit soon with my family.Guest review byRubenUnited States
- From $276.42 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very Good - What previous guests thought, 51 reviewsIt's small-town Americana at the Victorian Inn in Ferndale. Innkeepers Lowell and Jenny were exceptional hosts, and made us feel very welcome and at home. The rooms were larger than expected for an old hotel. Our room was upstairs, and there was a nice sitting room on the 2nd floor with a lounge area, games, and a Kerig coffee maker. A grab-and-go breakfast was available in the morning (a great option for those on the go) but they welcomed us to stay and eat in the restaurant/bar.Guest review byKimUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 23 reviewsThe most beautiful scenery, the kindest hosts, incredible food, and an amazing atmosphere. The 3pm charcuterie, the warm cookies at night, the s’mores, and the incredible breakfast were definitely highlights. Being upgraded (and being the only people there for a night) was such a great experience. Maddy was an incredible hostess for us and made an incredible breakfast. She was knowledgeable about the area and gave us good recommendations.Guest review byTaylorUnited States

It has 11 bedrooms which are all lovingly decorated in period style with beautiful old furniture. The downstairs is spacious with several lovely rooms for guests to enjoy. Every room has fresh flowers and period decor. The afternoon tea and wine were an added bonus and the breakfast was delicious. In addition, the town of Ferndale is a gem. Don’t miss this place!Guest review bySandraCanada

Town is great, just disappointed with the property-poorly managed, I broke my wrist (severe) and a toe. There went lights outside (back Yard)and it was way from raining all day. can send pics later when my arm heals? going to a surgeon tomorrow - in a lot of painGuest review byBillieUnited States - 10.0
Restaurants were all over with food for every palate.
Restaurants were all over with food for every palate. The Redwoods are close. Elk viewing was close. Beaches were great, can’t blame the City for the cool weather. Camping and hiking opportunities were plentiful. We didn’t fish, but talked to several fishermen who came back with nice catches and or photos.Guest review byLarryUnited States - 10.0

Set right near Humboldt Redwoods State Park, you can hardly find a more beautiful place to stay. There are lots and lots of hikes in the redwood forests nearby. There's are also rivers, and even the sea is not far away.Guest review byS. MicheleUnited States - 10.0

Conveniently located between the coast and the Avenue of the Giants. My Apple maps listed the Avenue of the Giants as 'Permanently Closed'. It is NOT closed and I am glad I looked up the current news for the area. I'm glad that I took the drive again and got out to walk in the forest and breathe!Guest review byScottUnited States - 8.0

Trinidad is in a beautiful location on the ocean and in the redwoods. We like to go in the summer to escape the heat and be out in nature. It is also home to the amazing Larrupin Cafe. This is a beautiful restaurant in a very unexpected location. Arcata is only about 15 minutes away and is a funky little college town with good restaurants, brew pubs and a farmers market on Saturdays with outstanding organic and home grown produce.Guest review byDeborah - 10.0

The cottage location in a redwood forest is outstanding and the Eel River right below the cottage is beautiful with nice swimming holes and beach. Breakfast for three days was a container of yogurt, some blueberries and a bag of granola so plan on bringing some breakfast supplies. The main studio area is nice. The bed is in what was probably a large closet and it is the width of the room so you climb on from the end. It is softer sprung than we find comfortable but that is personal preference. We would have preferred the bed be in the main room of the studio and had a stiffer mattress. Cookware is very basic which is not uncommon so we generally bring our own cookware. The cottage is near the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt Redwood State Park which is a gem of the California state park system. It is a reasonable drive to Eureka and Arcadia. We highly recommend the Eureka Zoo and Annie's Cambodian Restaurant.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 6.0
Love this place, beaches and views are great.
Love this place, beaches and views are great. Try to catch it when it is not so foggy. Do not stay at The Inn of the Lost Cost. Run down and not maintained. overpriced. We had luxury spa suite, and the tub could not be used do to trickling hot water pressure. Told the manager within 15 minutes of us being there, he said he would call a plumber and get back to us. we were there for 3 days and never heard back from him and the problem was never fixed. Took 45 minutes to check in since the manager was not on site, office was wide open and nobody there. Had to call his cell and wait 30 min for him to come and help us. Asked for room to be cleaned on the 2nd day and maids said they forgot? Toilet kept plugging up and they had no plunger in the room, had to ask maids to fix.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Beautiful beaches and close to the Redwoods.
Beautiful beaches and close to the Redwoods. Arcada has a very cute town square with some very nice restaurants like Brio's Bakery. They have great pasteries, and wonderful a breakfast and lunch menu.Guest review byMelanieUnited States - 8.0
All the staff was very nice, easy check in was easy.
All the staff was very nice, easy check in was easy. Room was nice size and comfortable. There is no breakfast , just pastries in lobby, the restaurant opens at noon, you have to leave the hotel if you want breakfast. We ate in Alice's Restaurant in the casino and food & service was really good. We did not explore any of the area, except for going to Eureka for and afternoon. Ocean and the bay are about 10 minutes from hotel, lots of little quaint shopping is nearby towns. Plenty of hiking & biking trails. There is a lot to do in the area for families.Guest review byElaineUnited States - 10.0
Ferndale is a very welcoming small community.
Ferndale is a very welcoming small community. We spent time doing a lot of walking and just enjoying the cool weather, shopping and the casual atmosphere, Several restaurants were closed on Monday and Tuesday, so we were limited on the choices. We did have really good pizza at the Pizza Place on Main St. We visited the Ferndale Cemetary and enjoyed the history and the views of the surrounding countryside with dairies and farm. The beautiful Victorian Homes throughout the town was a real highlight of the visit. A perfect getaway.Guest review byKaren LouiseUnited States
