If you like southwestern history, the arts, and fine food Santa Fe New Mexico is the place for you. Recommend eating at the "Shed" Mexican restaurant. Reasonable priced parking in the Old Town area can be a challenge; it can be difficult. Travel to Santa Fe during the off-season to take advantage of cheaper hotel prices. Ski Santa Fe is nearby if you are interested in winter sport activities. Include the equally interesting town of Taos, located north of Santa Fe in your plans.
I’m fron New Mexico, I mainly go back for the tranquility from all the hussle and bussle....and not to mention the food.... anywhere can say “authentic Mexican food” but it doesn’t make the the cut.....New Mexico is the place to go for the green chili!!!!
Coming to Albuquerque I didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, I was expecting much. I knew it was rich in history. When we got there and started to explore the beauty, culture and people just blew our minds. The city is so neat with a lot to do. Whether you like touristy stuff or getting outdoors. The food was excellent and they had great coffee shops. I highly suggest Satellite Coffe shop and Napoli. The people were so awesome. The Piedra Lisa Canyon was an awesome find. The Petroglyphs National Monument was amazing! The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science was phenomenal. Can’t wait for us to go back! Oh, you have to try Chocolate Dude for sweet treats.
Old town Silver City is very walkable and easy to get around. Good Mexican food and also places to visit in the area; Catwalk, Gila National Forest, Gila Cliff Dwellings with abundant hiking trails. Not so easy to get to but things to do once you are here in southwestern New Mexico.
We traveled North to Taos then down to white sands then back up to Albuquerque for one night. Planned on two nights but didn't work out with our flight plans. Will try and return to New Mexico someday. Did the Breaking Bad tour that was great.
When in New Mexico, White Sands is a must do. We joined one of daily sunset tours. Great photos csuse the light is not so harsh and the ripples on the sand more defined. Returned the following morning to hangout by the picnic sheds and do some dune hiking.
Absolutely love Albuquerque. Absolutely love New Mexico state overall. The people are quite lovely. Love the mountains, sunshine, and history of the state.
We’ve been going to Santa Fe every year on spring break since moving to New Mexico in 2015. I love this city so much. We always walk the downtown area when we first arrive and the day we leave just to pick up souvenirs or to shop the stores. During our stay we travel to places such as Bandelier, tent rocks, Taos pueblo, nambe falls, chayo, and the gorge etc... and hike for the day come back and enjoy a nice dinner somewhere in town. This place has so much to offer
Loved Roswell, the museum, the stores, restaurants, the history... Cerritos has the best Mexican food on our trip which included Texas, Arizona and New Mexico...
Raton New Mexico is a beautiful small town with lots of culture and great food and the style of living is very slow paced and very relaxing you can find pretty much anything you want to do there in Raton or close to their highly recommend a great visit it will make a great weekend
Roswell
Wyndham Management has done an excellent job remodeling this Day's Inn. New carpet, new paint, those Wonderful Wynham Property Matresses (large reason why we pick Wyndham owned Hotels exclusively - when available to us). We liked the New Mexico motive with the carpet. Management needs to complete reserfacing the parking lot/driveways - then it should be complete. Enjoyed the Bkfast room - nice and big to enjoy social distancing. Good, Helpful Staff.
Las Cruces
We really liked the unique flavor. We were fortunate enough to peek into two rooms, one of which was partially designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and the other we stayed in was the Georgia O'Keefe which was designed by the owner which we absolutely loved. Linda and her daughter Lydia were excellent hosts and shared what to do in New Mexico as well as stories about them and previous guests. It was easily the most welcoming hotel we've ever stayed at.
I've stayed here a few times over the past 45 years. It is always charming. I love the style and the ambience. This is not your everyday hotel. It is steeped in history and old Northern New Mexico style. We had appetizers & margarita's on the front terrace. Very good and it was a beautiful late summer day. The wine selection was small, unusual, and excellent. Our waitperson, Marbella was delightful.
Tucumcari
This place is a ABSOLUTE GEM!!!! A genuine artifact of the Motor Hotels that thrived along old RT 66 in the mid 1900's. It was superbly preserved and maintained over the years. The whole experience was awesome. The owners, Rob and Dawn, do a fantastic job of providing a welcoming environment. If you are traveling I-40 through New Mexico, plan your Itinerary for a stop in Tucumcari. You will enjoy it.
We spent a week traveling around New Mexico and Arizona and of all the places we stayed this hotel was the best of them all. The beds were perfect for my sleeping needs, the room a great size, everything was clean and the staff very helpful. For one-night stopovers I'm not interested in fancy luxuries or exorbitant prices!
The room was spacious and very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was big and the magnifying mirror mounted on the wall was a definite plus. The breakfast was the best we had at a hotel throughout our 8 days in New Mexico not only for the food but the staff members who served it as well.
Clean comfortable pet friendly hotel. We were passing through New Mexico traveling with our 2 dogs. It was during the COVID pandemic so the pool, spa and gym were closed. Breakfast was in a to go bag; limited options but sufficient. Staff kept surroundings sanitized well.
The hotel has always been on the list of places for us to stay in New Mexico. I’m usually there in the spring and again in the fall. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to experience La Fonda in Taos when traveling through the area. It’s quite enchanting!
It was our first trip to New Mexico and this hotel! The king bed was super comfortable! The facility overall was very well kept! The breakfast buffet was awesome! The majority of the staff was very engaging and helpful! Beautiful location in the mountains!
the location was good. I liked that the hotel had a grassy area for my dog. most places in New Mexico only have rocks. I also really liked that there is no pet fee. We enjoyed the wineries in the surrounding area, and the location to old town.
Hotel was a one-night stop for us on a long, cross country drive, and we were pleasantly surprised. Hotel was clean and located in a nice location close to New Mexico State University & the beds were very comfortable! Good value.
Taos
Loved the SW breakfast, very New Mexico and not the usual hotel spread. Great location, since we visited the Taos Pueblo, which is right up the road. My kids enjoyed playing frisbee golf on the beautiful grounds in the morning.
The Plaza Hotel was a REAL old hotel, just like the Victorians had. The decorations were a mix of Victorian and South-Western/New Mexico. Very whimsical folk art. I would absolutely stay there again, it was wonderful.
The history, location and ambience of this historic gem of Route 66, old Hollywood located in Gallup, New Mexico. They are pet friendly and we're very accommodating when we informed them of our late check-in.
The hotel was super adorable! Such a cute New Mexico style. Cross between Pirates of the Caribbean and Muleje Mexico. Breakfast was amazing...best hotel breakfast we have had!
This is a historic hotel that has been maintained well. The entire facility embodies New Mexico culture, history, and hospitality.
The hotel decor is true New Mexico/Old Mexico style. The staff was willing to do what they could to accommodate our needs.
We stayed here several times as my son goes to New Mexico State. It was nice enough to come back to you until this time
Liked everything about this hotel. Best hotel by far i have used during this 11 day trip to New Mexico and Texas.
Good breakfast. Given a voucher and allowed to add cash for additional choices. Good New Mexico breakfast.
