Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaGreat spot right on the main street of Echoland, Hakuba. Bus stop to all slopes just up the road and easily walkable. Great breakfast, helpful staff, good sized and comfortable rooms for a couple. Plenty of storage for snow gear and if renting a pick up service is available from the main rentals which is handy.

AustraliaThe rooms were clean but somewhat dated, but still clean and spacious. Showers were difficult to control and shower head in our room was broken. The paths between the buildings were not maintained and slippery due to ice. A quick daily shovel would improve access.
The staff could be more helpful, from requests about access to the ski slopes, to assistance with accommodating our 2 year old, they went out of their way to provide assistance. The location was perfect, with access to five restaurants onsite, equipment rentals and Hakuba Valley bus at the end of the street (less than 100m), a convenience store next door, there is no better location in Echoland.

AustraliaWe enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it. The location is great for easy access to buses for ski fields and dinner and food options. The dry room, washing machines, and easy return of ski gear were convenient amenities to have. The staff were helpful and answered every question we had. The only reason the stay is an 8 is because it is outdated.

AustraliaWe tried to contact the hotel via email to ask about luggage storage but were unable to get a response.
The staff were amazing after my husband became ill. They went above and beyond to help us. The stored luggage both before and after our stay and arranged for it to be sent on to the airport.

AustraliaWould be great if the Shuttle service the hotel provides could extend the availability times, and extend locations to where it would take you - i.e., to the train station. This is in consideration that there is very limited ability to move around with luggage (ski bags particularly, and little taxis available).
Location was great, and rooms were a fantastic size.

AustraliaThe breakfast could have been a little better - the salad spread wasn't very appetising for breakfast, and there were no knives to spread butter, jam etc. on our toast so we used a fork. It wasn't too bad, but could have been a bit better. I had toast and scrambled eggs most mornings, my partner enjoyed the gyoza, fried rice and noodles depending on the day - all of these were pretty good! The room was nice with the fireplace :)
The room was the perfect size to spread out a bit with all of our ski gear. Having a couch and coffee table was really helpful. Beds were comfy, bathroom was good. The drying room worked well for our ski boots, skis etc. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was great, near lots of restaurants, and the convenience store and shuttle bus to ski fields was a 1 minute walk. We really loved staying here.

AustraliaThe pipes cause a nasty smell in the bathroom unless you continuously run the warm water. Rooms very dated but very convenient location.
Reasonably spacious room by Japanese standards. Breakfast on site with adequate options. Staff super friendly and helpful. Several restaurants on site (particularly liked the Italian place - Tomatito for atmosphere and food quality). Hire skis could be left on site for collection by rental companies. Snow shuttle stop right outside hotel.

AustraliaThe rooms were so dark it was hard to find all your things. Weird system with getting new towels which didn’t seem to work but once you asked for them they brought them up straight away.
The staff were so lovely and helpful. The sweetest girl in the front desk and the owner helped us out on our last day with transport as the train had been cancelled. She was amazing. Location is so handy especially tot eh shuttle buses going to the different ski resorts

United StatesTransportation around town and between resorts is confusing, as is the need and process for making restaurant reservations. I would have appreciated if staff were more knowledgeable, forthcoming and proactive in providing assistance. Information and strategies shared between other tourists was frankly more helpful. Room was small but that's to be expected in Japan. A shuttle to train/bus station upon departure would be appreciated, as there are limited taxis available and it's too far to walk with gear and luggage.
Amazing location, in the heart of Echoland near restaurants and rentals, free shuttles to ski resorts right outside. Convenient heated gear room for storing skis, board, and wet gear. Friendly staff. Was able to send equipment ahead via Yamato, very convenient

AustraliaThe only thing that lets this place down is that it is a bit old and run down. I don't feel the price we paid for 5 nights is reflected in the ammenities of this building. The carpets were old and one of the bedrooms had a huge brown stain in the middle of it. The beds are rock hard, the curtains are old and hard to close and the shower head in the bathroom definitely needs an upgrade (I swear this was at least 20 years old!) I don't think it would take much to make this place feel just a little bit more comfortable but luckily being in a ski village we didn't spend too much time there.
While the hotel itself isn't the nicest, The location is great. There are 5-6 restaurants just outside so eating out at night was nice as we didn't have to walk far. The staff were all super lovely and helpful. The breakfast was really good too! A small buffet but again, lovely staff and nice selection.

United StatesExpensive. Some staff were not knowledgeable about the area and logistics and seemed like they were hired only for their English speaking abilities. They did not speak Japanese, which made it hard for them to find information (for example, they had to rely on the only staff who spoke Japanese to reserve a taxi). We were so used to the Japanese hospitality high standards that we felt like this hotel was more like being back in the US.
The room was laid out in such a way that we felt like we each had our own section, even though there were no walls separating us into separate bedrooms. It was helpful to have English speaking staff.
