I love Franschhoek, feels like your in a different country.
I love Franschhoek, feels like your in a different country. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, for every taste and budget. Everything is in walking distance. Very nice shops to browse or buy some souvenirs. Plenty of wine farms around and if you don't want to drive take the famous Wine Tram.

The town is adorable and very safe.
The town is adorable and very safe. It is very french in the type of food served at several places (Reuben's is fantastic) and in many of the wineries. The town is known for it's gourmet restaurants and exquisite wines, all are affordable. And then there's the shopping! I like the small size of the town as it is intimate at 17,500 people and everyone is very friendly. It is very easy to walk around and the wine train is helpful for exploring the many wineries. We ended up staying an extra 2 days and would have loved to stay longer!

Our initial booking had a strong unpleasant odor and was surrounded by baboons, making it difficult to open the doors. However, the owners promptly responded and swiftly upgraded us to a fantastic property. Their professionalism was exemplary.

The main purpose of going to Franschhoek is to eat in some of the fabulous restaurants. Apart from that there is not a lot else to do and it can be very hot making it uncomfortable just to walk around the village. If self catering there are very good grocery stores including Woolworths Food and a relatively new and modern Checkers. There is also a large Pick n Pay but it is a much lower standard than the other two which are more up market.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer.
We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer. We love wandering along Huguenot Street with its many shops and small restaurants and the market on Saturdays and Sundays. We visited Haute Cabriere, Mont Rochelle and Mullineux & Leeu. We enjoyed an excellent lunch in all and had the best wine tasting in Mullineux & Leeu. On the way out we had “high tea” (at 10.30 am) in Orangerie at Le Lude which was quite amazing
Tranquil and secluded location with exceptional views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped for self catering, with a great BBQ and outdoor fire pit, log burning hot tub and open fireplace in the lounge. The outdoor sitting area is spacious and enjoyable to take in the views, see the horses in the paddock and watch the sunset. Conveniently located to Franschhoek for the amenities and great restaurants. Did enjoy the excellent rose from the vineyard too.
My husband and I visited Franschhoek for our annual holiday. We've never been before and the Valley did not disappoint. We had a fantastic time tasting wine at 9 different Wine Farms and our stay at Val d'Or Estate was outstanding. A beautiful, spacious suite with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. The staff were friendly and very helpful from check-in to check-out, providing everything you needed from extra water to ice cubes. A tranquil gem of a place that I can highly recommend.
La Cotte is a breathtakingly beautiful place - the setting was unparalleled and too picturesque to even begin to describe - we adored it. We stayed in a self catering cottage which had the added bonus of a gorgeous verandah complete with fireplace with logs and everything needed to make a beautiful fire, and we looked out onto the most beautiful verdant lawn with gorgeous pool, and a forest in which we saw owls and other birds
We had a flawless stay in this delightful boutique hotel in the centre of lovely Franschhoek. The staff were so friendly and obliging and we adored the breakfast - easily the best of our Cape tour so far. The open log fire in the reception area gave a cosy vibe. The bed was super comfortable. Everything truly was perfect, we just wish we’d booked more nights. Thank you!
Wonderful little cottage on a working fruit farm. Peace and quiet with exceptional view on the mountains. Fully equipped for a self catering holiday. Centrally situated to explore all of Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. Thank you Jonathan for your hospitality and friendly conversations. Unit was serviced daily during weekdays.
Auberge Chanteclair is far more than a hotel. The staff and the atmosphere there truly makes you feel at home. The breakfast is delicious, the staff goes out of their way to assist you and the scenery in and around the property is stunning. Would give more than 5 stars if I could. The best hotel I have stayed in for a long time.
La Fontaine is a very nice and well equipped hotel in Franschhoek. The personnel (Caecilia, Kim, etc.) was very friendy and helpful and we felt very welcome from the first moment we stepped in. Our room was very spacious and the facilities left nothing to be desired. The breakfast buffet is great an the food very nice.
Huge stylish room in the main hotel. View of the mountains. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Secure parking. Franschhoek is a very pretty town. The hotel is near all the shops, cafes and restaurants but on a quiet street. Beautiful gardens and pools. Excellent fresh breakfast with great choices.
Large hotel rooms with spacious bathrooms, clean, nice pool with amazing views across Franschhoek and the surrounding mountains, vegan breakfast option 🌿 Away from the hustle and bustle - far up the mountain, only a few hotel rooms in the lodge. Have some wine and enjoy the sunset from the pool or deck 🤯
The hotel is beautiful and the staff are fantastic, especially Byron. He helped with bookings, reservations, recommendations, etc. We felt so welcome and pampered! Thank you!
And they also look after the environment, which is a huge plus.
Great location a couple blocks from main street Franschhoek. Perfect place to explore the town and wine country. Lovely garden and pool. Beautiful comfortable home. Hosts Dion and Albie very nice.
Our stay was picture perfect! We loved the hotel and being easy walking distance to town without being right in the middle. We would absolutely stay again!
