Aberdeen House, hotel in Aberdeen

The Aberdeen House is a baronial style granite building with turrets on the outside, offering modern bedrooms.

It was very, very clean, including the bedding and towels. The bed was comfortable and during my stay it was very quiet with no noise from outside (or indeed internally but that would, of course, depend on how busy it is and how noisy other guests are which can be a problem in any hotel or hostel). Best of all it's only a couple of minutes walk from the railway station (and bus station), and the main town. You will either love or hate the quirky interior. I loved it - once I got used to it!! The room I was allocated was on the third floor (no lift) but when I checked in I was asked if I would like my case carry up. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful

FAQs about hotels in Aberdeen

Charm, Granite, Energy and Blooms

With a gently rolling landscape, Aberdeen moves elegantly between sandy beaches, picturesque stone houses, and blooming gardens. As Scotland’s 3rd-largest city, it is home to important universities, a busy harbour, and is a hub for the oil industry in the North Sea.

Walk along the Union Street ‘Granite Mile’, and visit some of the historic places like the Town House, Castlegate, or ‘Provost Skene’s House’. Don’t miss the Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum, and do some shopping in the city’s trendy shops. Choosing hotels in Aberdeen’s city centre allows you to explore this compact city on foot.

The charming Old Town is filled with bookstores, old buildings like the King’s College, and student cafés. The city won the ‘Britain in Bloom’ prize a stunning 10 times for its well-kept gardens.

The local airport offers direct train links with the central railway and coach station. Staying in a B&B, a cottage, or a hotel near Aberdeen Airport is a way to avoid the last-minute rush, while enjoying the surrounding green hills.

Getting round Aberdeen is easy. There is a good bus service and it is near the railway station.I would recommend going to Stonehaven (Stagecoach bus service X7 X8) There is Aberdeen Beach a beach within walking distance which is long and sandy with a place called FootDee (Fittie) at the south end (an old fishing village) and well worth a visit. We also visited Seaton Park which is in old Aberdeen. There is a cathedral in the park and a walk along the old High Street which is cobbled. We ate at The Wild Boar Belmont Street which is a lovely cosy pub.The staff were friendly and the food and drink really good. We found everyone really friendly and I may return one day.Walking was our main activity.

I had never been to Aberdeen before, and planned my holiday to include some time in the area. i visited the Northeast coast, Royal Deeside and St. Andrews and Dundee from here. The Aberdeen tour was fascinating with so much street art, stories of witches, and beautiful granite buildings. I really enjoyed the Maritime Museum and the Deacon Skene's House display of famous people from Aberdeen. Favourite Pub: The Prince of Wales, half a block from the Aberdeen Douglas Hotel.

Aberdeen is a place for a short visit so you can say”been there, ticked the box”. All in all a rather tired city which has not had the investment from the offshore industries that it deserves. Places are rather untidy and tired with the exception of Old Aberdeen which is lovely and worth a visit. Good beach area about 25 minute walk from centre also worth a visit. Plenty of eateries and drinking establishments for all tastes and qualities. Some areas could do with a thorough clean up! Stonehaven a short 20 minute train trip is far nicer and is a small fishing port. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Room very clean and comfortable. Room well maintained. Bed very comfortable. Hot water all the time. Good shower. No loud noises at night. Cleaning staff helpful. I was very pleased with the hotel location. Not far from city centre but still quiet and on street parking over night accessible. Reception staff slows to use hotel car park first night as our car was fully packed. Have had to extend my stay in Aberdeen at short notice but there was no availability for the coming week. I would definitely stay again. A real gem of a hotel.

Situated in the heart of Aberdeen close to Union Square shopping Centre, the train station, bus station, port, airport shuttle, and Union Street shops you couldn’t ask for a more central location. The room was large and clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the double glazing kept out much of the outside sound. Best of all the staff were very helpful and allowed me to have some post forwarded to the hotel which I picked up upon checking in.

We had to go to Aberdeen unexpectedly as our son was admitted to the hospital after being assaulted. The hotel was fairly close, so it was handy from that point of view. Given that we had to book 3 rooms altogether for our other young adult children, it was very cheap, so it was fit for purpose as just somewhere to sleep. The staff were all very friendly and helpful though.
