Loch Ness Country House Hotel, hotel in Inverness

The Loch Ness Country House Hotel offers excellent food and elegant rooms. It is a striking Georgian building in 6 acres of gardens, 3 km from Inverness city centre.

Reception and checking-in were fine. We booked a cottage which was just a 1 min drive away. First impressions were good as it's clean and quiet as it's separate from the main hotel. The only gripe was that we asked for a walk-in shower as one of my party had mobility issues. That was sorted but I didn't realise that the main bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs which defeated the point of having a walk-in shower. The stairs were carpeted etc but a tad on the steep side. It caused us an issue but as it was only 1 night, it wasn't a disaster just a pain. On the positive side, it's a gorgeous cottage. We had dinner the hotel which was very nice albeit expensive for Inverness (roughly 100 a head) Would I stay again? yes but maybe the cottage next door if it has no stairs.

FAQs about hotels in Inverness

Gateway to the Highlands and Loch Ness

A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.

Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.

The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.

Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.

Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!

Inverness is lovely but Loch Ness is totally not worth the effort. Every other lich we visited in the highlands was lovelier than Loch Ness. The hop on hop off bus of Inverness was a huge disappointment as it did not go to the castle or Loch Ness visitor center.

Inverness is a major city in Northern Scotland, and, as such has many and varied facilities. Plenty of opportunities to eat out, or just enjoy a drink. The people we met were friendly and helpful. Our favourite places were the Inverness Botanical Gardens and the Falls of Foyers, (which are about 15 miles away)

Lovely city with some really beautiful parts. Clearly a seedy side (there was a major assault not 50m from our door on one night!), which is true of any city, but Inverness is small enough for it to feel cheek by jowl with the nicer parts. Great range of places to eat and things to do. Easily walkable to everywhere.

We spent 3 days with Sergio, it was our first stay in Scotland. We wanted authenticity and we found it with our host. His house is old and full of history, far from the hotel rooms of the big impersonal chains. The breakfast is prepared according to our wishes and it is typically Scottish! The room fully met our expectations and we slept very well there. Sergio is an exceptional host, very kind, very available and with a very beautiful philosophy of life. It was a very nice meeting, a wonderful memory for us. Thanks again Sergio!

My family and I had a very cosy room with all amenities that you can think of. Russell, the owner gave us a lot of useful insider information about Inverness and Scotland in general. In the morning he provided us a fabulous breakfast according to our wishes. Our room had a private bath and everything was absolutely clean. The beds were very comfortable so that we wanted to stay longer in this cosy home. When we come back to Inverness we will definitely stay there again. Thank you so much Ellen and Russell!!!!!

Nanny’s hoose was such a lovely place to stay in Inverness! The hoose was stocked with eggs, meat, pastries, bread and coffee; everything you need to make breakfast. The Honesty Bar is a wonderful touch. The bar was stocked with several types of gin, whiskey, vodka and mixers. Also, the complimentary bottle of wine. Such a nice touch. The location is excellent, just a 2 min walk into town. This was the perfect spot for two days in Inverness. Absolutely my fav stay while in Scotland ❤️

It''s like a 10 min walk into the center of Inverness, which was perfect. Had really good drinks in a bar called Scotch & Rye. Joyce and Alan were wonderful hosts. We felt very welcome and “at home”. They told us a lot about Scotland that we didn’t know and we also laughed a lot, which is always a good thing. The artwork (wall art and wood carvings of birds) is outstanding. Why not a perfect score? Nobody believes perfect scores. This is an honest review that you can believe. You won’t be disappointed.
