When we arrived at 8 AM, we could have left our luggage until check-in time, but 2 rooms were ready and we took an offer of early check-in for a reasonable fee. It was a great relief to unpack our bags and rest and freshen up before exploring Reykjavik.
I liked the location, which was away from the Center and therefore quiet. The Food Hall with several good choices was a short walk away.

I do not recommend Reykjavik to visit at all. I visited at the beginning of June. It was extremely cold and windy, which made walking very difficult. I almost lost my scarf due to heavy winds. It even hailed!
There is not much to see or do unless you like snow or snowmobiling. Then you should come in the winter and also go on a monster truck trip on ice.
Hiking may be a good activity. Everything else is very overrated.
The nature does not look real; there is no normal looking soil, mostly rocky terrains or volcanic turf Very limited kind of short trees.
Very very expensive, especially restaurants! No meal is less than 40$.
Overall, it's depressing. People are nice but cold, just like the weather.
The only nice activity is hot springs. I really liked the Sky Lagoon, and I would definitely recommend going there to relax your nerves!

First tip for travelers, check the weather forecast and prepare for all options. Weather is changeable, but other than that, Reykjavik is a wonderful city for travelers, The hotel options are amazing and there are so many wonderful things to see and do. The museums, shopping, and restaurants are varied and so much fun. The Whale, Perlan and Phallic museums are must sees.
If you stay downtown, almost everything is within walking distance. Taxis are plentiful and prices are reasonable. If you rent a car, be prepared to spend an inordinate amount of time searching for parking in the city. Free parking is extremely hard to find and you must have the Parka app to pay for parking,
The scenery outside the city is amazing. The roads are well maintained and well marked, Speed limits are strictly enforced via cameras. We found that out the hard way as speed limits drop quickly when approaching a city/town. We rented a car and spent 10 days touring the country. We had to quit stopping every couple of miles to take pictures of all the marvelous waterfalls and scenery or we would have never made our itinerary. It was breathtaking,,,
Most interesting - Golden Mile, , Glacier Tours, and the buffet at The Tomato Greenhouse restaurant.
We have visited Iceland twice and looking forward to a third.

My second time...great food, great sight-seeing especially areas with natural beauty. Easy to get around if you rent a car; most businesses do not have free parking, you must utilize street parking. That being said, there are some designated pay parking areas near/adjacent to most locations. Nearly everyone speaks English.
Great places to eat: Braud & Co., Sandholt Bakery, Baka Baka, Cafe Loki, Jomfruin, 101 Bistro

A beautiful small city but has everything you need even a Hard Rock Cafe! It has interesting modern buildings, interesting museums to visit. The Opera house has a remarkable architecture. The Perlan Museum was also great to see, especially, the ice-cave experience be ready to take with you warm clothes if you are going there. There were hot water beaches and it was interesting to see people going into these hot tubs in regular swimming suits rather than diving suits!. Coming from a hot country where we go swimming in the sea/ocean in the summer only, it was interesting to see people swimming in the ocean! In addition, the drinking, cafes and dining were also great. I highly recommend a stroll around the city and the small lake in the middle of the city. And go to the rainbow street where you can find loads of nice cafes and authentic restaurants and visit cafes like "Mokka Kaffi" which is one of the oldest ones in the city and has great staff and photos around showing the old times mixed with modern ones. I am sure there were other such nice cafes around as we did not have much time these are the one we know. Have a good time and let us know what else you explore in Reykjavik in the future!

Lovely city to explore -- easy to get around by walking and bus. Definitely visit a local swimming pool -- the one behind the Hallgrímskirkja Church was sublime (and included if you get the City Card).

Its a very quirky Capital and very clean and well worth a visit. Fairly expensive but as its the 6th most expensive Country in the World so you would expect this. The Town Centre is so compact and easy to navigate and there are many trips to areas outside the capital. The Bus Service in my opinion was hard to access and navigate and I didnt think the bus drivers were too bothered about helping foreign people who dont speak Icelandic which was a little off putting but generally most people who were Icelandic were very polite and helpful and eager to point you in the right direction - definitely a nice place to visit and I would recommend highly. The trips out are expensive but worth a shot. On reflection I should have hired a car but I more than likely would have got completely lost as the roads were confusing but its not like the UK with Cars everywhere its got very few cars so not as much pressure ! Its a great place and very unlike the UK in lots of ways. Plenty of outdoor pools in Rejkavic too so if you like a swim its all good fun !
Very nice hotel in the center of Reykjavik! We were walking distance to the church, great bars and restaurants, the beautiful conference center and the coast. Also very close to bus stop 14, where we went for pick up for various day tours in Iceland. Morning breakfast was good and appreciated. The staff were very friendly and helpful with questions. We also received a free dinner at a local restaurant, which was a really nice surprise! The room was small but very comfortable. We asked for twin beds and got a twin bed room.
It is perfect if you're looking just for a place to stay for the night to begin or to finish you journey in Iceland. I stayed both in the beginning and the end of my trip and both time were perfect. It serves its purpose of resting. If you don't have a rental car, I do not recommend you stay in this hotel because it is a bit far from Reykjavik center. Also if you are using Reykjavik as a starting point for your tours and plan on staying there, I also do not recommend for the same reason.
One of the cheap nice hotels I found in Reykjavik for thanks to booking.com. Very clean rooms. The hotel has really friendly staff. They were able to provide for my requests of cutlery dead of the night.
The location is also great! bus stops are near by. hotel also provides a pick up service from the airport for an economic fee.
Breakfast was also pretty decent. Not many vegetarian options but with bread and salad veggies, it’s also easy to set a sandwich. :)
I like everything about the property. The location is great with c.15min by walking to the bus terminal and downtown. The staff is super nice, and it was lovely to meet and chat the boss, Jon, before I head to the airport. Moreover, I love the vibe in the hotel particularly - it is very open! You can make tea/coffee, have a little snack whenever you want, and the kitchen is shared too. I feel I am welcomed open heatedly here! Highly recommended!
Fantastic hotel!! It’s in the middle of downtown Reykjavik so everything is in walking distance. It’s really close to bud stop 9 so you are able to walk a few minutes and go really anywhere. It was very clean and we felt safe the entire time. The staff was amazing and offered free coffee and were always willing to answer any questions. Whenever we needed a taxi they would call one for us so it was less of a hassle. 10/10 experience!
We loved our stay at Eyja Guldsmeden. We stayed here the night before traveling back home and were very pleased with the hotel, our room, and how conveniently located it is to downtown. The lobby was very welcoming and well decorated. We didn't have the time to try breakfast because of our schedule, but we loved all the details the hotel had, including the bathroom product. Great place to stay. We totally recommend it!
The hotel was beautifully decorated and furnished. The staff were great and very attentive. The breakfast was absolutely great with a huge variety from cooked egg, sausage and bacon, to pastries and fresh pancakes, the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. It was clean with lovely eco friendly toiletries. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough to anybody who is looking to stay on Reykjavik.
Good hotel for our last night in Iceland before heading to the airport. This hotel is about a 10 minute drive from central Reykjavik and about a 35 minute drive to Keflavik. The room was functional -- nothing special and a little dated -- but it was clean and good value for the money. There was a nice breakfast included in the morning and free parking right outside.
The room was facing the Old Harbour and situated near some fabulous restaurants, as well as a short walk away from the center of Reykjavik. We had a great stay here - the hotel is very quirky and we appreciated the library and living spaces downstairs. It was easy to take the bus to and from the airport as well as to the Blue Lagoon.
For me it was perfect because it's cheap (compared to other accomodations in Reykjavík), it's located directly in the city center and the bus stop isn't far away. It's also clean, which is always one of the most important points for me. I would definitely stay there again, if I come back to Reykjavík!
The property is in a brilliant location. All of downtown Reykjavik is within an easy stroll. The apartment we had was clean and well equipped, with very effective underfloor heating. The hotel restaurant was lovely and the bar opposite was lively and fun. All in all a great place to stay.
Very good price for a single room in Reykjavik, was even cheaper than dorm-beds in some hostels! Good location, only a few minutes walk to city center. Supermarket next door, still the street itself is rather quiet. Very clean and also has basic equipment for cooking.
The location was perfect as a base for our stay in Reykjavik, within a short walk to downtown and bus stops . Staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with daily cleaning. We would love to stay here again!
The best of the hotel is the location, as it is in the city centre of Reykjavik. It is very well communicated with the Bus Central Station, but also you can walk anywhere in the city.
Location was perfect, easy walking distance from Central Reykjavik. Hotel is budget accommodation but worth staying at if you have to do iceland on the cheaper side.
Location was good and price was more affordable than all the other hotels we searched near downtown Reykjavik. Had a shared fridge which we could use. Linens were clean
Excellent location. Only 20 minutes walk to downtown Reykjavik. The staff is very polite and helpful. This is a relatively new hotel and everything is clean and modern.
