Cosy Country Retreat in the Brecon Beacons, hotel in Crickhowell

A recently renovated apartment set in Crickhowell, Cosy Country Retreat in the Brecon Beacons features a garden. The air-conditioned accommodation is 22 km from Longtown Castle.

A really wonderful short stay in fab proximity to Crickhowell and Abergavenny. It is very much a 'studio' style accommodation with a small kitchenette in the upstairs bedroom and a downstairs toilet and shower, but it has been made up to an absolutely excellent standard. It is not on the cheaper end of the market for the space, however everything in the room was pristine and really quite luxury - the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, kitchen equipment fantastic given the size (appreciated the sharp knives) and the TV and Chrome cast very easy to easy to use. We would absolutely return for a cosy weekend and despite the size it's definitely worth the cost in my opinion!

Excellent base for an overnight stay. Apartment was exceptional with everything we needed. Communication from the hosts was excellent even giving us suggested areas to eat and drink in an evening and at lunch and breakfast and even providing us with telephone numbers for taxi firms.

Love the river Usk and its surrounding area. At least 2 great art galleries. Felin fach Griffin, near Brecon, has great food, so does the restaurant by the cathedral in brecon. manor Hotel in crickhowel has very good food but very slow service!

The room was clean, the whole building very tired & worn , needs a lot of money spent on it ! Naomi was a very helpful lady she offered us a lift to the local pub which was very kind of her , very friendly & helpful ! Unfortunately the lady on the reception desk when we arrived was not so pleasant, kept talking over me which is found very frustrating.

Lovely small, vibrant town with a good atmosphere, plenty of places to eat and drink and small independent shops. Nice local history too with the Crickhowell Bridge and the ruins of the castle in town as well as being surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Kestrel Inn is well-sited and overlooks the scenic Cwmdu valley. The Inn and its rooms are clean, warm and comfortable, and the owners are welcoming with much-needed advice on places to visit and things to do. Breakfast was cooked by the owners, which we appreciated greatly, and dinners were found in the historic village of Crickhowell, which is only a 6 minute drive away. The Inn is well-placed to explore Brecon Beacons National Park by car or bicycle, with quiet country lanes starting literally over the road.

Great location near to Crickhowell and Brecon Beacons. Cath (barmaid) met us on arrival, super friendly and dealt with any query we had. Rooms are clean and smart; all the usual facilities. Good selection of drinks; and the food was AMAZING! The JamWelsh menu and specials are superb. Quality ingredients and well prepared. Worthy of popping in just for the food. The pub was busy on the Friday night; so book a table, but regardless as Guests they managed to find us a table.

We booked a room with mountain view and we got a lovely view from our window. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and well decorated. Our host was very welcoming. Our delicious breakfast was cooked to order. There was also fruit and cereal available. There was a private covid-safe lounge available where we also had breakfast and our evening meal. The hotel was near to Crickhowell, Brecon and Abergavenny which were good places to visit.

The location of the cottage was excellent, in the middle of the town and an easy walk to pubs and restaurants. Having parking in the nearby pub meant no worries about the car while we were there. The cottage itself was exceptionally clean and very nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. Nice bathroom too. And Crickhowell is the starting point for several fine walks across the Welsh hills, which is the reason we were staying.

An excellent staging post on a business visit to West Wales, but also would be a marvellous location for a longer stay in the great landscape of the Black Mountain and Brecon Beacons. Very helpful and friendly staff, good range of tasty choices for breakfast and comfortable bed. We will definitely stay again when in the area.

Very helpful hosts. Brilliant location and house. Ideal for us and another family with 4 pre-school children. Lots of space inside (garden smaller than expected but lovely) and quite soundproof. One of the bedrooms had a little extra section that was perfect to fit our son's cot in so he couldn't see our bed!

Beautiful flat with lots of light. Lots of space. Great location to the Brecon Beacons with some excellent pubs and shops nearby. Thank you for the milk(!), the little maps & tips around the area and for helping us get into the flat! I will definitely stay again when I'm next in the area.

What a gem of a place, suitable for all our needs. Secure garage underneath to keep our bikes. Lovely walks nearby, we climbed up to Table Mountain. The town has some lovely pubs, I can recommend “The Bear” for food as well. The people were welcoming and the accommodation warm and clean.
