That the room we ended up with was spacious, big enough for people who were staying a few nights and who needed some private space. I had to negotiate this at the counter, as the "upgrade" turned out to be unclearly presented on the website - see below.

Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.
Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.
Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.
Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.
Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

It's not easy to park but there are a couple of convenient park and rides just outside the city. It has a vibrant market with varied and interesting little shops set out with a variety of items you didn't know you needed! There's a church converted into a market place in which you can browse for items of old with vintage clothes and beautifully crafted jewellery. There are unlimited places to eat from delicious fish and chips (huge queues) and offbeat decorated small cafes.

Norwich, a pleasant surprise, the town and city was better then I/we expected, the old town reminded me of York, lots of independent shops, lots to browse, places to eat, would be a shoppers heaven. There is also the newer part of the city, with arcades and most of the usual shops. My main delight was Jarrolds Department store, (not many left) well worth a visit if your looking for something special! Then there was the market, an-other nice surprise! I have also never encountered so many Churches, including the lovely Norwich Cathedral! Also there are lots of beautiful buildings and some amazing architecture! The castle was closed due to repairs but looks very imposing on the hill. I/we have only seen a small portion of Norwich, but are looking to return later in the year and will be staying a few extra days! I'd say, if you like a nice friendly City with lots of culture & shopping, try Norwich! :-)

This was our first trip to Norwich. We absolutely loved it.
This was our first trip to Norwich. We absolutely loved it. The Maids Head hotel where we stayed was a real find situated as it is right next to the wonderful cathedral in Tombland.
Norwich itself is a vibrant city which seemlessly marries ancient and modern in a way that really works. There is so much to see and do. If you have £100,000 to spend on a diamond ring you can find one but if you just want an authentic gelato you can find that too about 50mtrs away. The market area is legendary and has a massive street food section where you can sample anything from pie and peas to Asian cuisine. We loved the whole place and will be back again.

Olive Cafe and Haggle restaurant were two stand out options for food. Try the bubble and squeak at Olive. Olive's breakfast option was enourmous.
We had four starters and two main courses at Haggle. Every one was superb. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Maids Head was a great location for our stay. Adjacent to the Cathedral and any amount of the historical walks outlined for free on the Norwich Society website.

Beautiful cathedral. So-so outdoor market.
Beautiful cathedral. So-so outdoor market. People are very very friendly and helpful. It's a nice city to just wander everywhere, and easy to find your bearings.
Lots of information and a wonderful monument to Edith Cavell, the brave nurse executed by the Germans.
Many varied eateries to match your hunger level or kind of dining experience you want, from street takeaways to tea cafes to fine dining.
I enjoyed my stay in Norwich; no pressure, and I had a very fine studio apartment called Wellington Apartments, which is directly behind Norwich Cathedral.

Two days in Norwich was just right for us to explore the historic interests, shop the Shambles and get a feel for the culture and atmosphere. I'm not sure why it's not a top tourist recommendation as there is lots of charm and history in a relatively small and easy to explore town. Maybe the cobble stone streets being a little hilly are more difficult for the elderly that aren't used to the European way of walking so much, but it seems everyone got around well.
Although check-in wasn't until 2pm, the hotel was happy for me to leave my car in their car park when I arrived in Norwich at 10.30am for some appointments in the city, and offered me my room as soon as it had been cleaned. Check-out the following day was at a fairly generous 11.30am. The location is pretty convenient - 10 minutes walk from the city centre, but also just far enough away that it was easy to reach by car and to have sufficient free parking.
excellent stylish boutiquey hotel set in a Georgian? building just a short walk from central Norwich. rooms with modern touches (espresso coffee pod machine, digital radio) and traditional charm with a Farrow & Ball colour vibe. downstairs a spacious pub/restaurant done in a shabby chic hipster way - ours was a flying visit so we didn't sample the food but menu looked great. attentive helpful staff
The location of this hotel is superb, opposite Norwich Cathedral and in the city centre. Free parking is available at the rear of the property so you can leave your car in the car park for the duration of your stay and walk around the city. The room was clean and spacious with a view of the Cathedral. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Would certainly stay here again and highly recommend.
The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious with a beautiful view, and had a kitchenette, which was a big plus. Although the room had no AC—typical in the area, there was a standing rotating fan, which was great at night. Plus the hotel is walkable from basically anywhere in Norwich or just a few blocks from the train station and several bus stops.
Great location, it is walking distance to city centre without being on the busy high street.
The property is well equipped with everything you would need for your stay.
The host was quick to reply to queries, and even accommodated a last minute request.
A lovely place that I would happily stay in next time we are in Norwich.
The Station Hotel is a very modest hotel close to Norwich railway station. Even though it is located by a busy A-road, the bedrooms are at the back of the building, so are not affected by road noise. Staff are very friendly and the Wi-fi works well. Accommodation is extremely good value.
Located in a beautiful part of Norwich but still close to the city centre. The bar had a good choice of real ale and the food was excellent. A special mention to Helen on reception for giving service above and beyond. She moved her car in the car park to ensure I had a parking space.
Location is very good. Beds were fine. Basically the cheapest hotel in Norwich and it's only for a night so did the job. Fulfilled our request with the beds and the staff were alright. Basically as a hotel which you only use to sleep in for a couple nights max its sound.
me and my friends has stay at this hotel , we really enjoyed our stay and like Norwich. definitely stay again , highly recommended to anyone who want visit Norwich...great lactation easy bus , walk distant to city centre and all the bars, restaurant
Staff all very friendly and helpful. Location, near the ring road, ideal for travelling to all parts of Norfolk. Buses into Norwich city centre every 15 mins from the Park & Ride, literally just across the road from the hotel.
Location approx 5min walk into town
Able to use hotel car park on day of check out
5min walk into town
Cafe (called 33) in the park near theatre serve a tasty breakfast approx 5min walk from hotel
Loved the apartment (got a free upgrade with them), clean, well lit and well stocked with teas and coffees. Everything was easy to find, the bathroom was amazing. It felt like staying in a hotel.
Hotel is on a perfect location close to the center of Norwich. We had a big room at the top floor, which had a nice seating area. The room was very clean. Also the breakfast was lovely.
Spacious , comfortable room in prestigious city centre building - everything is an easy walk from here .
Staff friendly and helpful.
Great to have central hotel with parking .
