This is a fantastic city -- creative and vibrant with plenty of big city fun with a small town vibe! Eugene has a fantastic food scene and great book and music shopping and museums. My favourite is the Whiteaker Neighborhood; lots of fantastic dining options and live music plus parks and the beautiful river path. It is a great place to walk and cycle.

Eugene is a college town, and we chose to go on road trips instead of staying in town. If there are games going on, it can be quite hectic to try and get around the city. There are covered bridges to go and see in Cottage Grove, as well as waterfalls and other hikes to partake in in Cottage Grove and outside Eugene.

I will never go to Eugene in the winter again! So cold!
I will never go to Eugene in the winter again! So cold! And the rain never stopped for our entire stay. And the day we had planned to leave, I-5 was expected to be closed over Siskiyou Pass due to snow and high winds. We left a day early and drove home via the long route, over to 101 and then down the coast. Temp never got above 45 degrees and the rain never stopped, but at least we didn't have to deal with snow. If you need to go to Oregon, schedule it for the summer when it is actually quite pleasant.

It was good to tour the campus although we were there for a wedding. It was sad to see the homeless on the streets. Other than football and sports, I don't know what anyone would do on vacation. A trip to the winery was fun. Eugene is not for us.

Classic college town with a clear progressive and liberal tilt.
The scent of pot being smoke was not uncommon.
The city streets were CLEAN and there were very walkable sidewalks on most city streets.
I saw signs of a concerted public assistance to homeless populations rather than the constant conflict between the haves and the have-nots in Seattle.
I only spent one day but I would have liked to spend more to explore its nooks and crannies.

My family always loves staying in Eugene.
My family always loves staying in Eugene. We travel to the Ducks football games around three to four times at least every season. My family enjoys the location of the Hayward Inn because it is the perfect location for sporting events and amazing restaurants. We love the walk to Autzen Stadium from the hotel as well.
Very nice little hotel. It was very clean and presentable. It looks updated and well maintained. The room is basic but nice. Comfortable beds,, flat screen TV, a/c, microwave and larger mini fridge. Grounds are clean. We spent the weekend in Eugene and did multiple activities. This Inn was very close to everything we did. Including U of O campus and the Matthew Knight arena.. At night we walked a few blocks to the Starlight Lounge which was a nice place for drinks and socializing. We would definitely choose to stay here again.
Very clean and comfortable. The bedding and towels smelled wonderful. Loved the tiny frig complete with veggie crisper and separate freezer!! Older hotel with updated rooms. It exceeded my expectations! The receptionist was very prompt and friendly even though we had a late arrival. Less than 2miles from the airport and very affordable for the area. This will be my future go to place to stay for early or late flights out of Eugene.
I’ve stayed here multiple times and it’s my go to place to stay in Eugene now. The front desk is always very nice and helpful, check in is quick and easy, and the rooms are always clean and welcoming with comfortable beds. Rooms aren’t too expensive and it’s in a nice central location with many interesting spots within a 30 minute walk. Best of all, it’s about 3 blocks from Blairalley, my main reason for being in Eugene typically.
The Eugene Hostel is a classic backpacker haven. It is chill, yet well managed. The staff are eclectic artists, musicians, and humble happy go lucky folk. As someone who has stayed in over three hundred hotel rooms, and or Airbnb's, hostels, and campsites in the past decade, I can honestly say, this place is awesome. Proximity to real, independent art, music, and food is one of the many aspects, that make this place what it is.
Our room was huge. We had the room at the end of the hall, so this might not be normal, but we had way more space than we needed. The location was nice-I ran around the University of Oregon football stadium easily from the hotel. There were also some nice walking paths around, though Eugene seems to be very car-dependent. The pool was also simple but nice to have. We enjoyed taking advantage of that amenity.
Staff was very friendly, room was nicely decorated, good bed. Shopping centre and restaurants nearby, also a supermarket within 10min on foot. Got there with uber, and there is the bus terminal within 10min walk, also the bus stop to get to the coast (Florence). As a female single traveller I felt safe
This is quite simply the best motel I have stayed in. The friendly owners went out of their way to sort out a ground floor room for my wife, who uses crutches. The room was spotless and had recently been fitted out with a brand new bathroom......oh, and it was excellent value for money.
The location is fantastic for the University of Oregon (slightly further from downtown Portland). Room was fine - spacious and with all the amenities and more you would expect in a budget hotel. Some wonderful walks across the river.
Spacious, very clean and comfortable room, pleasant staff, and the price is definitely right. The hotel is walking distance from McDonalds, IHOP and Denny's so I didn't try the hotel breakfast. Will stay again if I return to Eugene.
Staff was friendly and helpful with taxi service prior to arrival. Close to downtown and University of Oregon. Much cheaper than hotels that increased their rates due to special events. Large mini fridge and microwave in room.
Clean rooms, nice laundry room, loved the little kitchenettes in the room. Perfect for long term stays.
Staff was exceptional, we even had a power outage due to weather and they all handled it amazingly.
Love this cute hotel in downtown Eugene. Staff was helpful and efficient and the rooms, cafe and restaurant were great. The hotel is in walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops. I’d stay here again.
Lowest priced room in the area short of sharing rooms with a bunch of free-spirited Hippies in a communal setting. Eugene, Oregon...'nuff said. Oh, the Denny's restaurant next door was very good!
