I stayed here for two nights after finishing the camino, and it was one of the highlights of my trip!! I feel like I robbed the hotel- It was a high quality experience for a reasonable price. Definitely worth the cost! I enjoyed my room and the fabulous view from my window. It was magical. Breakfast was also excellent. Thanks to all of the staff for making me feel like a queen!

The location was perfect-steps away from the cathedral and dozens of dining and shopping options. The hotel itself was superbly appointed-an exceptionally restored historic building with classic features like original wood bands and stone walls intact. The front desk is staffed around the clock which made it very stress free to get a taxi to the airport on the morning of our departure. Just make sure you let them know the day before.

The room was large and comfortable attique style with several ceiling windows looking out to lovely views of Santiago. We enjoyed our stay here. While not inside the walls of the pedestrian city, the hotel is just across the street and very close. Location was excellent, walking distance and very near the Cathedrale de Santiago de Compostelle. The inner garden for breakfast and taking a rest is a haven of green and freshness which we liked alot. Appreciate that the hotel was able to arrange parking for our car.

FAQs about hotels in Santiago de Compostela

A Valuable City with Rich History

The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.

Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.

Surrounded by magnificent buildings, the monumental square of Plaza do Obradoiro is one of the most historic squares in the world and the heart of Santiago. You can stay in one of the hotels, guesthouses or apartments Booking.com has near this majestic square.

The final destination of the medieval pilgrimage route El Camino de Santiago, this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. Galicia is the seafood capital of Spain and the right place to savor Salpicón de Mar (seafood salad) and Pulpo á Feira (octopus cooked with salt).

The Christian pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes by Santiago de Compostela Airport, just 9 miles away from Galicia’s capital.

    Really glad we visited.

Really glad we visited. The Cathedral history is really well presented and the old town is full of life & historic character. We stayed for 2 days and saw most of what we wanted. Our trip was with family, so mainly shopping, eating and Cathedrals.

We walked the Camino for the 2nd time so Santiago will always hold a special place with us. There is nothing like finally arriving after hundreds of miles and finally walking into the square~ Was able to go to Mass and witness the Botafumeiro and did the tour of the roof. Going out onto the roof is a must! I don't speak Spanish and the tour is in only Spanish but the views are bilingual! Enjoy!

The cathedral experience was fantastic for those who like old churches. Be sure to see the Portico of Glory and the museum - and if the weather is favourable, the roof top tour is essential too. Lots of other great things to do in this city.

The church was huge and beautiful. I felt great to be in Santiago de Campostela after the Camino Walk. There was a restaurant that served all you can eat and they had good BBQ beef & pork. It was a little chilly in the city but it was a relief after the long walk.

Santiago is a must-see, so no blablabla needed here.

Santiago is a must-see, so no blablabla needed here. Just one observation: although there are lots of covered parkings in the downtown, most of them are very low, ranging 1.80 - 2.00 m. With a roof rack on my car it was quite annoying: I literally could not park anywhere due to that, driving in circles.

We arrived in Santiago during a major eletrical blackout in Spain/Portugal, we were welcomed very well by a very nice staff and managed to handle the processes without any internet access or electricity. Quite a peculiar situation but the way they handled it was super reassuring and comforting, even the next morning they went over their way to make it up for something that was not their fault. Can't say enough good things, after completing a pilgrimage, this was a beacon of humanity and love in a world without eletrical lights!

The hotel is nicely located between the train station and the historical center of Santiago. It's also strategically located nearby some places where excursions start from (e.g., Praza de Galicia). It also has few nice bars and bakeries in the surroundings (more affordable than in the city center). The staff was very friendly and helpful all the time. We found the room quite spacious and comfortable, with enough place to open the suitcases. The bathroom was big and nicely furnished (even with a convenient bidet).

This is a reasonably modern hotel with all the must have facilities and amenities of old school hotels. For the money this is 1 of the best hotels we've been in in Spain. It suited a couple of Pilgrims just in off the trail after walking from Saint John.
