The hotel is quite close to the city, just a 10-minute walk to the main river that runs through the town. The staff is truly exceptional; I've never met such friendly and upbeat people in France before. Their restaurant offers a good breakfast at an affordable price. The bed is very comfortable, and the air conditioning works very well, which was crucial for relieving the heat. I recommend it.

Perfect location just outside of Bergerac. Peaceful and beautiful grounds, great breakfast with a chance to have a little chat with other guests. The room had a little mini fridge that was very useful in the heat.

Delightful place, wonderful buildings in the old town if you like architecture. 'The Little Train' gives a nice history tour with recorded narration in English. The 1h river cruise in a traditional Gaberre boat is fun too. Be aware that EVERYTHING closes for lunch until 2pm. Even the cemetery.
Exceptional eating and drinking! Brasseries, delicatessens and markets are wonderful.
Easy train to Bordeaux for a day trip.
Sadly the town museum has disappeared. The Museum of Tobacco is OK but very little English interpretation. Likewise the Dordonha gallery, very little English explanation but nice exhibits.
Be aware- Taxi required for airport transfer. Buses not at convenient times and seats must be reserved in advance!
To visit the closest vineyard Monbazillac is minimum 25E each way in a taxi if you do not hire a car. Instead the Quai Cyrano wine shop above the Tourism Office does wine tastings and has a wide range of local wines, with a lovely sunny terrace overlooking the river Dordogne!
If you do hire a car, there is a nice swimming lake Pombonne not far out of town to the north. The locals use it a lot.

The Old Town if lovely, but a little further out, it is dirty and neglected with weeds growing out of the edges of the pavements, pavements cracked and broken and rubbish overflowing from bins. Very, very disappointung.

The Staff were welcoming and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Their English is good where as our French is not good. So this was very helpful to us.
The Hotel facilities are excellent and have very comfortable rooms. The breakfast offered plenty of choices and was delicious.
I would definitely book again. Bergerac is a beautiful town to stay and enjoy.

Bergerac is a lovely place, very old and the people are lovely and friendly. A few days is ok without a car but for any longer, I would say a car is needed to get the most out of a trip there. The local taxis are good but can be expensive and Ubers basically don't exist there so don't try to order one to pick you up from the airport as we did. Literally everywhere is closed on a Sunday, which we weren't prepared for. It's not a very good place for Coeliacs, no gluten free food in any of the supermarkets we went in and restaurants weren't that helpful. We did find a lovely Indian Halal restaurant called Jardin De Kashmir, which provided delicious GF food.

Such a beautiful quaint town to visit with its architect and character, the river is stunning for a sunset and watch the swallows. I recommend a walk to the Lac De Pombonne to spot wildlife, watch the waterfalls and stop off at the cafe. Unfortunately the weekend we arrived was a local bank holiday so everything was closed, the tourist information was open one day as well as a couple bars but overall too quiet with no atmosphere. I would like to return when its busier. The tourist train and river boat tours looked popular on the day we arrived. Walk to Jean Jaures park to see the gardens, beautiful flowers, small play area and pond with fish, free toilets here too. We also took a train from Bergerac to Sarlat for a day costing about 20euro each return. Transport in and around Bergerac is very difficult and needs some attention before you go, the airport is very small and no one around to assist. Pre book bus 48 hours before or pre book a taxi as too many people waiting.
Very friendly welcoming staff who went out of their way to help, very comfortable room and a good continental breakfast with sweet and savoury options. Fabulous swimming pool tucked away at the rear of the hotel, ideal for a snooze in the sunshine.
Situated in an excellent location to explore Bergerac on foot, just a 10 minute walk to the centre of town and another 5 minutes to the river.
The train station is just a 5 minute walk which gives you the option to explore further afield.
Ecclectic interesting wel cared for old dame. Decor great. Rooms large and comfortable. Its not quite in the centre of the old town but…. We had two issues. We were in the rear bedroom so no road noise but a terrible winning noise from a neighours machine/ac even with windows shut and ear plugs. The owners need to sort this and the towels were useless. Both these items hopefully the owners will address
Lovely little hotel in an excellent position in Bergerac. The welcome was very good and the receptionist was very happy to organise an earlier than usual breakfast sitting for us due to our early flight time. Very welcoming couple. We discussed returning to explore and spend the weekend in Bergerac and we would definitely book the Hotel de France. PS Newly refurbished bathrooms very nice indeed.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre of Bergerac. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Good value for money….the rooms are small but clean, the shower room seemed recently updated..perhaps a little TLC for the overall decor would be a good thing. Free parking in the station car park across the street.
