The room was very nice, clean, large. It could fit 4-6 people with 2 double beds on the carpeted area and 2 futons on a six tatami floor. The tatami area had a small table for 4 people. It has an onsen, pool, is near the ski area, and they have various activities for kids. There is a herb garden. (We didn't have time to do most of these activities.) Breakfast was good, almost exclusively Japanese style food. Management is very efficient.

It’s my favorite type of low-tech hotels: it’s very quiet and comfortable. Rooms have a nice view, you can open windows and enjoy your stay.

Owners are really nice people, shuttled me to and from inawashiro station as well as the ski slope when I wanted to climb Mt. Bandai. Onsite meals are delicious. The space itself invites social interaction, which made for great memories. The aircon in the dorm was excellent. Great for exploring the local nature including urabandai, but I wouldn't use it as a base for aizu-wakatmatsu. They offer rental bikes at a small additional charge.

    It’s a small rural town but has all services you need.

    It’s a small rural town but has all services you need. Multiple supermarkets and 100Yen shops, plenty of restaurants and convenience stores, it is almost essential to have your own transport but it’s on a train line with a station. There are numerous ski slopes on the surrounding hills and I guess the main tourist season for the town is in winter/ snow time. We visited late May when all rice fields were planted and surrounding the town with reflecting pools of water.

    I was originally staying for two days but I was lucky that...

    I was originally staying for two days but I was lucky that there was space for me to stay an extra night. It meant I could travel to Aizu Wakamatsu and Nanukamachi on one day and then cycle half way around the lake on the next day. Then the arrival day i went up to Goshikinuma ponds and walked the nature trail (stunning) and I just chilled at the lovely guest house after lots of travelling! Inawashiro is very quiet but lovely scenery with a great beach by the lake. You do need a car or bike to get to it though.
