FAQs about hotels in Bordeaux

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town center, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge. On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the bars and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

Bordeaux looked a very photogenic city with loads to see Very walkable but my visit was during an extreme heat wave for Bordeaux so walking around distances not an option would definitely like to see again if cooler

The main city centre is beautiful and worth a visit.

The main city centre is beautiful and worth a visit. There is an abundance of great bars, restaurants, cafes, tabacs and a host of attractions to see. The main part of the city centre is clean and the people in this part of the city are welcoming. However, try and avoid booking accommodation close to the main part of the city centre as the side streets in between the train station and the main part of the centre can be dangerous, especially at night.

It’s like a bigger brighter version of Bath but with great weather. One of those places where you think, I could see myself living here. Beautiful old town, plenty to do, and it had a friendly vibe to it.

It would be nice if there were two visitor centers, not one.Sadly, too, the Hop on Hop off was a little disappointing, too. Also, the construction along the River Garonne was difficult to walk around. I hope it is quickly cleared up, for we lost a great view of historic buildings. I enjoyed Bordeaux very much, almost as much as Paris.!

Bordeaux is a lovely city and very walkable.

Bordeaux is a lovely city and very walkable. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants everywhere. Saturday markets in the street were great and give the city a real buzz. The tram from the airport accesses the center of the town and is a very good, reliable and cheap service. The area along the side of the river is very nice and lots of people gather there just to enjoy the view. Bakeries everywhere selling filled baguettes and pastries make eating very affordable.

Bordeaux is a very elegant city, with beautiful old buildings and plenty of other tourist attractions. Public transport is excellent, the tram system makes it easy to reach outlying attractions. There are many good restaurants, plentiful shops and all are staffed by very friendly people. Perfect place to go for a city break.
