The Blackstone M Hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. Its location couldn’t be better - right across from the Shanghai Symphony, yet tucked away on a semi-secluded campus surrounded by charming restaurants, a cozy coffee shop, a cute bookstore, and more. As a boutique hotel with only 24 rooms, it never felt crowded. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, and my room was not only spotless and comfortable but also elegantly designed, with every detail thoughtfully considered. Breakfast was another highlight - a semi-self-serve spread complemented by made-to-order dishes that were incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff were wonderfully friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. A special shout-out to Manager Grace Zhu, whose warmth, professionalism, and genuine care shone through when she personally arranged a warmed breakfast sandwich and fresh orange juice for my father to take on his early morning flight. She truly made us feel more like valued guests than just visitors. I can’t recommend the Blackstone M Hotel highly enough - it’s a rare combination of location, comfort, elegance, and exceptional hospitality.

The apartment is centrally located in the Huangpo district, which was close to the venue of the two talks I gave in Shanghai. The host Alisa (Vicky) greeted me many days before arrival. I needed an office desk to prepare my lectures and a power-strip for my U.S. devices. She had them installed specially for me the day of our arrival. Throughout our stay, she constantly attended to our personal needs, such as dining, grocery, and such locations. They also booked the taxi for our departure to the airport. Alisa was extremely attentive and responsive to our needs in all respects. The apartment was spacious and comfortable for two.

Shanghai old Alleyway is a recently renovated apartment in the center of Shanghai, 1.8 miles from Jing'an Temple and 1.9 miles from People's Square.
