Same as marrakesh but not as exhausting. Same tip culture! Really off putting for those who do not come from this tipping culture. Would skip Fes if I was doing the trip again… I would have stayed in Ifrane instead.Guest review byKathrynIreland - 6.0

Very authentic city but lacking nice restaurants that felt clean. In the newer area there was a great place called Le Stream. Favorite places were the music museum and mausoleum. Petit Taxis were reasonably priced and made getting around the city inexpensive and easy.Guest review byDonnaCanada - 10.0

Peculiar European style roof houses for sliding the melted ice, calm, quiet and very comfortable hotels available, especially I highly recommend MICHLIFEN RESORT. Hotel staff was very obedient, punctual. Hotel surrounding, forest tour by walk.. Deep inside, a visit to a small lake for a short picnic, smaller town comparatively and a short centre ville visit are special moments in 4 days visit. A retirement town. I breathed most clean air in the whole of my life. Very clean town.. I always used to rate some rural area of Sub Saharan Africa as the best for good air quality but now my new option is IFRANE of this beautiful country "MOROCCO".Guest review byJayant PALNITKARIndia - 6.0
Not much happening in this town.
Not much happening in this town. Hard to find good restaurants. Most places seem to serve fast food. Probably the biggest draw is the proximity to Ifrane National Park and the famous Barbary macaques. They are easily spotted on the road N13 leading into town mainly because people like to feed them there so there are plenty to see.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 10.0
Booking.
Booking. Com is very hard to write a review in the system, it deleted all my long descriptions. The accommodation was wonderful and welcoming. The 15th century palace in the middle of the 9000 Fez alleyways was stunning and beautiful. The staff was exceptional and helpful and quickly became friends. Moroccan people are polite and respectful and helpful.Guest review bycorinnaUnited States - 10.0
A Hidden Gem for Peace and Tranquility
A Hidden Gem for Peace and Tranquility Nestled far from the hustle and bustle of modern cities, this town offers a serene retreat into a simpler, more peaceful way of life. The charm of the town lies in its timeless atmosphere, where modernity is far from the priority. Here, life moves at a slower pace. The architecture of Moulay Idriss mosque is nothing short of breathtaking, The intricate tiles and majestic arches tell stories of a rich cultural heritage, while the fountains within the mosque add a sense of tranquility and spiritual serenity. It’s a place where you can spend hours marveling at the craftsmanship and feeling completely at peace. The landscapes are equally captivating, with vast stretches of olive trees dotting the hillsides. What makes this town even more special is its people — respectful , down to earth and welcoming, they embody the warmth of a culture that values tradition and hospitality. There’s no fuss here, just a genuine sense of community.Guest review byInesMorocco - 8.0
Fez's market is huge and overwhelming.
Fez's market is huge and overwhelming. We had a guide and driver for our 1 day which was perfect. The only thing that was hard for me is that so much of the mid/late day with the guide was focused on the various crafts they make - leather, Berber rugs, cactus silk scarves (and even though the guide kept saying there was no obligation to buy anything, I kept feeling like I was getting pushed to buy - which as a minimalist is a pretty uncomfortable place for me). We had an amazing dinner at Ishq. The lamb shoulder will be in my top 5 lifetime memorable meals. Walking in the medina seems very difficult. We tried to walk to dinner (should have been 8 minutes), got lost, an old woman eventually led us out and found the general area of the restaurant and we tipped her/thanked her profusely as it felt like we were in a maze that we would never find our way out of. For what it's worth, I was reading The Sheltered Sky over the course of this trip.Guest review byremaUnited States - 10.0

Don't believe the online videos or guidebooks that say that the whole of Meknes is a building site! While there is a lot of renovation going on, there are still marvelous things to see and do. The medina is very interesting and comes with very little hassling. Its worth taking a day trip - or longer - to the mid Atlas mountains.Guest review byJaneSouth Africa - 8.0

Ifrane is a small town so choices for food outside of the few hotels are limited. We like to take drives in the countryside each day and then return to town. There are a few very nice parks to walk through. Especially Ain Vittel on the outskirts of town.Guest review byoilpatchmikeUnited States - 10.0
I was in and around Fez during Ramadan.
I was in and around Fez during Ramadan. This requires believers to give up food and drink from sunrise to sunset. That is why we, as tourists, must behave respectfully towards the natives/locals... The hustle and bustle in the Medina is normal, Friday threre is a day like Sunday for us in EU. For Medina I recommend the first visit with a guide so as not to get lost between 900 - 10,000 streets As far as I know, there have been some issues at the airport with mobile boarding tickets in the past (they were calculated for paper printing), so it may be better to fix this sooner. As far as I could see on April 12, the couple in front of me came with mobile cards (on the phone) and they kindly gave them boarding passes for freeGuest review byMladenSlovenia
