We booked two rooms for our family of four. We were pleasantly surprised how spacious they were, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The host was incredibly kind, he suggested the best places to eat and buy locally produced lemon pastries, and when we were leaving, he brought his cat, Tiger, and waved goodbye to us. As we were on a three-day bike trip and only had our small backpacks with us, we loved the fact that everything was provided: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, tooth brushes, toothpaste, mouth wash, etc. In each room there were even a couple of bottles of water and everything for making tea and coffee. In the common spaces there was a microwave, guidebooks, manga books, and a wall full of Toso Maps of the Shimanami Kaido trail. We will definitely book Bed&Cafe Onzo again next time we bike the Shimanami Kaido!

The owners are such a wonderful couple! They are really friendly and incredibly helpful. For example, when we arrived, they welcomed us and served us wonderfully refreshing home-made lemonade. (They also make all sorts of jams, marmalade, honey and so on, which you can buy in their little store). In addition, they were concerned about us getting some nice dinner, and told us about all the local restaurants (there are not that many in the area and some of them are closed on different days during the week). They even offered to drive us to a restaurant that was a bit further away. When we decided what we wanted to eat, they made reservations for us at Boff, a local restaurant just a few minutes from the apartment. It was one of the nicest dinners we had on our trip in Japan, and we tremendously enjoyed it. Finally, when we woke up in the morning, we noticed that they had moved our bikes as well as laundry under the roof to protect it from the early morning rain. It was so thoughtful of them and it shows how much they care about their guests. And when we were checking out in the morning, the kids even received a present from them. Everything in the apartment is spotlessly clean and it feels like new. There were all the amenities like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothbrushes etc., but also a special Japanese red bean pastry waiting for each of us. In addition, the owners prepared a set of pyjamas and special Imabari towels for us. The towels were so soft that when we got to Imabari, we decided we had to buy some to take home. The best part of this place, however, is the location. There is an amazing beach just across the street from the apartment, and you can watch the sunset with the beach and the palm trees in the foreground straight out of your big window. It is just fantastic.

Taka and Kana were amazing hosts. I fell from my bike right before arriving to their place and they were very helpful with going to the hospital, returning the bike, getting around the island, etc. I appreciate very much their help and time. Their place is lovely and cozy. Thank you very much!

What a fantastic experience. Now that I've stayed, I can see why all the reviews are so positive. This guesthouse is PERFECTLY outfitted to provide a comfortable experience for travelers. It's visually stunning, and contains everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is no food in easy walking distance, but the local Family Mart is an easy bike ride - and the kitchen is *well* outfitted. There are even some snacks, instant ramen, and curry / rice available for purchase (honor system) if you are hungry. The service from the staff was also wonderful. I'll be sure to go out of my way to stay here again if I'm in the area. Like another review said: Book with your eyes closed!
