We arrived at night in drkness so it was difficult to get a fix on location and most things were closed as it was winter. However, it was a lovely harbour and area during the daylight to walk and grab a coffee.Guest review byFionaUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

Nelson Bay is so peaceful and friendly.
Nelson Bay is so peaceful and friendly. We were just interested in relaxing for this stay. There is so much to do within a very small distance and Newcastle is less than an hour away. We returned from our stay totally refreshed. The Bowling Club have great meals and drinks.Guest review byStephenAustralia - 10.0

A great spot for families to holiday, beautiful walk along the riverfront and out to the end of the 'V' wall breakwater at the entrance of Nambucca River to the ocean. You can occasionally spot dolphins and whales. The funky painted rocks/concrete cubes along the 'V' wall are fun to read telling tales of happy family holidays year after year.Guest review byVirginiaAustralia - 8.0

I attended a VWGA golf tournament from Sunday to Wednesday and experienced a friendly atmosphere and the golf course was very challenging but nice to play. Any golfers I would recommend to travel to Taree to play a round or two. Access to everything easy. Would recommend the Sailo's restaurant on the river bank for a meal.Guest review byVirginniaAustralia - 10.0

We liked our villa, very comfortable, the camp kitchen was the best we have seen. The grounds and amenities were great, reception staff very friendly. We did not find anything to complain about. We had some great meals close to the holiday park. Easy walking to the shops in the Main Street .Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Soth West Rocks is a lovely Seaside Town, with alot going for it. A walk up to the Lighthouse is lovely, and the Gaol. We went on a River Boat trip, and learnt alot about the river and Wetlands. Little Bay Beach, not for away is worth a look at as well.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

The owners have a wonderful guide book of everything you can do in and around Salamander Bay. Use their suggestions - Its detailed and a great way to finding the best food, best walks, bakeries, coffee shops, best play areas for children and things to do in wet weather. They haven't missed a beat in this guide book! We had a wet week so went ten pin bowling, movies, Soldiers point Bowling Club which has a fantastic play area for kids. Two Bobs bakery in Nelson Bay is fab and Atmos for lunch in Shoal Bay is the best for a sunny day eating great Greek food and watching the Bay glisten in the sun - perfect for long lunches!Guest review byTREACYAustralia
