Small "boutique" hotel with about 10 rooms total in one of the main tourist areas of Bordeaux City (across from cathedral), near two tram lines, one running from and to the airport for easy access. 10 minute walk from main square, mostly in pedestrian zone, including longest pedestrian street in Europe (as reported by locals). Hotel does not have a dining area, so breakfast is served in the room. There are a number of local eateries for that meal so it's not much of an inconvenience to go out each day (although they usually don't open until 0900 or later, French style). There is at least one staff person on site 24 hours a day, for information and general services.

Wonderful spot in the old town of Bordeaux, very central, and about 50m walk to one of the city's tram lines. That said, the hotel is in a really great position, making it easy to walk to many of the key attractions and sights, shopping of all types, and of course so many choices to eat. And if you need to go a bit further afield, take the tram! The convenience of a brasserie right at the hotel is brilliant - and worth a visit if only for breakfast. Hotel Madame itself is a lovely boutique hotel with all the facilities and amenities you need. Sadly we only had two nights here, but would happily have stayed for a week. Clean and comfortable, with the room big enough given its location. Even for happy suitcase carriers like us, the lift is important. Our room a few floors up with a window overlooking Rue Bouffard was charming - très français. The staff are friendly, kind and helpful. Bordeaux was both a surprise and a delight. We crammed lots in, including the Cité du Vin wine museum (highly recommended) and the old German U-boat docks converted to Les Bassins de Lumières, an art and cultural site (also highly recommended). We will be back for more time in Bordeaux and some exursions into the countryside.

FAQs about hotels in Bordeaux

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town center, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge. On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the bars and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

The main city centre is beautiful and worth a visit.

The main city centre is beautiful and worth a visit. There is an abundance of great bars, restaurants, cafes, tabacs and a host of attractions to see. The main part of the city centre is clean and the people in this part of the city are welcoming. However, try and avoid booking accommodation close to the main part of the city centre as the side streets in between the train station and the main part of the centre can be dangerous, especially at night.

It would be nice if there were two visitor centers, not one.Sadly, too, the Hop on Hop off was a little disappointing, too. Also, the construction along the River Garonne was difficult to walk around. I hope it is quickly cleared up, for we lost a great view of historic buildings. I enjoyed Bordeaux very much, almost as much as Paris.!

Bordeaux is a lovely city and very walkable. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants everywhere. Saturday markets in the street were great and give the city a real buzz. The tram from the airport accesses the center of the town and is a very good, reliable and cheap service. The area along the side of the river is very nice and lots of people gather there just to enjoy the view. Bakeries everywhere selling filled baguettes and pastries make eating very affordable.

Bordeaux is a very elegant city, with beautiful old buildings and plenty of other tourist attractions. Public transport is excellent, the tram system makes it easy to reach outlying attractions. Nice hotel - perfect for a couple of night's in Bordeaux. Whilst the hotel isn't anything special on the outside, the bar and restaurant area looked more contemporary. The food in the restaurant was good, with options for both kids and vegetarians. Our kids particularly enjoyed the games area, with chess, and Xbox and table football, as well as the pool! Convenient location for travel by tram into the city centre, and very useful to have a hotel with parking.

Lovely hotel enjoyed location it was easy to go out from there. The staff when arrived were great but the lady when was leaving was very hard to understand. I loved pool was surprised that we had to pay for parking as wasn’t mentioned upon arrival. Also think it’s unfair paying tourist tax when I am a resident in France and already pay my taxes. My daughter is french she never pays it in Bordeaux!

George was an excellent host and he provided us with all the information we needed to navigate around the city and experience all of the best things Bordeaux has to offer. The accommodation was excellent too and we felt we had so much space to relax in the hotel. The air-con was also great which is a must in France in the summer time.
