Hong Kong Island
0.9 miles from downtown
Endure a few light-headed minutes and take a tram up Victoria Peak for views of the Hong Kong skyline. Sun-soaked Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay beckon you to a lazy day by the sea. Set sail for Aberdeen Island aboard a sampan (traditional boat) and lose yourself in the life of a traditional fishing community.

Kowloon
1.9 miles from downtown
Catch a sea breeze in coastal Kowloon. As morning breaks, sport and Tai Chi enthusiasts head to Kowloon Park. Inside, the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre exhibits the roots of British colonial rule. Strike it rich in one of the 400 shops at the Jade Market in Yau Ma Tei, or haggle with shrewd vendors at the Temple Street Night Market.

Central District
In downtown
The bells still toll in St. John’s Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Hit Hollywood Road for galleries, look for critters at the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, or chill out at the eateries along Victoria Harbour. At night, try out your moves at the clubs in expat-filled Lan Kwai Fong.

Mongkok
2.6 miles from downtown
Mong Kok means "busy corner" in Cantonese. Ladies’ Market on Tung Choi Street sells everything for the modern girl. See Sai Yeung Choi Street for electronics and cosmetics, and the fruit, flower and goldfish markets need no explanation. On a hot day, find air-conditioned comfort at the Sino Centre’s multimedia shops.
Places to stay from $25 a night
Tsim Sha Tsui
1.4 miles from downtown
The city’s busy tourist area mixes shopping and culture. Buy luxury clothing on Canton Road, or grab a bargain at Park Lane Shopper’s Boulevard’s factory outlets. The city’s past comes to life at the interactive Hong Kong Museum of History, and kids can take a whirlwind tour of the galaxy at the Hong Kong Space Museum.
Places to stay from $7 a night
Wan Chai
1.2 miles from downtown
Wan Chai is a friendly assault on the senses. Walk up Stone Nullah Lane for striking pre-war architecture, or slurp up noodles and congee at the local "Dai Pai Dong" (open-air restaurants). Hong Kong Arts Centre hosts provocative exhibitions year-round. Wan Chai's theaters stage popular musicals with a dash of Broadway panache.
Places to stay from $15 a night
Causeway Bay
1.8 miles from downtown
Causeway Bay is organized chaos. Shopping centers erupt with shoppers day and night, especially in Hysan Place with its 17 floors of shopping. If elbowing your way to a bargain doesn't appeal, head to Jardine Crescent, a local shopping area with bargains to boot. Exhausted? Reenergize in Victoria Park's open spaces, or listen to the Noonday Gun blast.
Places to stay from $20 a night
Hong Kong is one of the world’s most densely populated places and a unique blend of Chinese and western culture. While ultra-modern towers dominate the skyline, beyond the glass and steel of the commercial district, the inner city remains home to ancient holy shrines, maze-like markets, and historic teahouses.
Explore Kowloon's beautiful feng shui temples like Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin, chaotic markets selling everything from spicy stir-fries to lucky waving cats, and Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade – the best place to view Hong Kong Island and its amazing Symphony of Lights show.
Next, hop on board a Star Ferry headed to Hong Kong Island, the buzzing commercial hub that earned the city its title of East Asia’s financial capital. Ride the funicular to the summit of Victoria Peak to see the city laid out like a row of dominoes in front of a beautiful mountain backdrop.
Even with all the buzz and bustle, Hong Kong still has plenty of quiet places. Spend some time getting lost in Victoria Peak’s woodlands or Kowloon's walled city park. If you're there in the summer, be sure to visit the pristine, white-sand beaches of Clear Water Bay.

The service of Wharney Hotel at Lockhart Road HK's receptionist named Ms. Leung was not friendly and I had been received her bad service on 10th Apr 2024. Ms. Leung the receptionist was worked at booking department , at first she had been refused to confirm of my booking and even treated me liked a rolling ball but there have a front desk lady named as Ms Moon Lui at Wharney Hotel has provided her standard service to me .
My favorite city.
April 21, 2024
My favorite city. Hong Kong may be a bit daunting for less confident travelers. It's very hustle & bustle, and navigation isn't always intuitive. But, it's still very safe & accomodating for foreigners. Almost everything is accessible even without being fluent in Chinese. And you'll have no problem accessing transportation. There's so much to explore & unlimited options for good food across all price ranges. Don't miss the Avenue of Stars, Ladies' Market, Central Mid-Levels, Stanley, the Star Ferry, HK Island Tramways.

Lots of good food and shopping ( I do not mean those boutiques) but specially those really low cost home accessories and all. HK continue to be highly efficient. Some people in Hk still very impatient and service level of employees to customers yet to be in tip-top shape.

My former memories of Hong Kong include: -cheap shopping. -cheap food. -great sights. Today's reality: -shopping is cheaper in other countries -food prices seem much higher now -sights are still great: Disneyland, Ngong Ping 360, Victoria Peak, etc -city seems to be always changing which is a great thing.

It was a mixed business and leisure trip, so I tended to look for places to eat nearby. It's easy to find good food just anywhere. I wasn't able to visit the Peak or Ngong Ping 360 this time, but those are some of my favorites to go to when in HK. Getting around HK is a breeze, the MTR stations are well laid out and easy to figure out. I would avoid Taxis and prefer Uber instead, as the taxi drivers tend to drive pretty fast and you find yourself sliding left and right on the back seat. Also, the smell of the taxis isn't always pleasant.
I AM FROM HONGKONG.
