Canaima Chill House Very good 8.3 Simply wonderful!! Juan Carlos and his girlfriend did an amazing job, staff is great, always helpful and caring. Go for it you will not regret it! It's like being in the deep forest 10 min away from the beach...
Pranamar Villas & Yoga Retreat
Blue Surf Sanctuary
Esencia Hotel and Villas Very good 8.2 Rooms were cleaned and beds were made each day. Super cute little cabana with a hammock right outside the front porch.
Beachfront Villa Bonita
Hotel Ritmo Tropical Very good 8.4 Great hotel. Close to everything. Nice pool and garden.
Santa Teresa Sunset Villas Disappointing 4.9 It was a nice setting and the bungalows were pretty cool.
Kokua Hostel Very good 8 The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The location was ideal, being a two minute walk to the beach and the grocery store.
Funky Monkey Lodge
Santa Teresa Bungalows - Luz de Vida Pleasant 6.1 It was very close to the beach, clean, had good and free wifi, there was a nice restaurant and hang-out place on the beach, and also surf board rentals (with crappy boards but still). Good large refrigerator but no coffee maker. I did enjoy my stay and it was well worth the money, but there were a few things that needed improvement...
Manta Raya Pleasant 6.8
Mini Hostel Santa Teresa Pleasant 6.4 Staff was helpful, friendly and observant. The place was clean, quiet and safe.
Hotel Raratonga Very good 8.2 The staff were super friendly and helpful. The handmade book in our apartment listed all of the local things to do in the area. Anything we needed from yoga classes to surf lessons were happily booked by our lovely hostess, Alessia. We had booked an apartment at Raratonga as we had wanted a kitchen, and it came with a whole extra bedroom with two single beds in it -- something we didn't know and could have used when we had more family come later in the trip. The location is pretty good, although it's a bit of a walk to some of the main areas along the strip. But, after renting day bikes everything was accessible from Playa Carmen all the way up to Pranamar. Housekeeping was great, prompt in the morning, and we always came back to fresh sheets, tidy rooms, and clean dishes in the afternoon.
