We loved the cozy privacy and rustic setting with a captivating view both during the day of the valley and at night of a star studded sky. A living room with a common adjoined kitchen and dining room space giving way into separate bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, complete with screened windows and granite stones walls, what more could one ask for. This gorgeous old family mansion is the perfect spot to stay to enjoy the best northern Portugal has to offer. You can explore many small villages and monasteries and hike in the wonderful Peneda Geres National Park. At the end of the day, enjoy a swim in the luxurious pool with a vista of farms and vineyards.
The owners of the casa justifiably take pride in the 20 generations of their family that have been stewards of this beautiful home and it’s lands.
Breakfast is excellent. The wonderful Elizabeth tends to all guest needs.
The village of Ponte da Barca has several nice restaurants and lovely walks along the river.
