This is a warning to anybody who is thinking that staying at Candlewood Suites in Aurora IL will be nice simply because it looks fine on the outside. DON'T stay here..run! Upon check in we saw a cockroach running across the check in counter. Our rooms were not cleaned yet and we checked in at night after driving 700 miles so we were exhausted. Kitchen had dirty dishes in the sink, all the trash cans were filled and overflowing with food and trash. Dirty bedding sitting in a pile on the bed. Dirty linens and towels in the bathroom. To make it worse, each night we stayed there we were treated to the strong smell of marijuana in the hallways and this is a no smoking hotel. The manager, Robert Mandujano, is completely ineffective in his role and has nothing to give us credit for the 2 nights we stayed there. We'll NEVER stay there again!

Super 8 site lied there was no breakfast or pool.

Super 8 site lied there was no breakfast or pool. I had special request of foam/not feather pillows I am allergic to and a extra bed or bunk. The hotel sent me an email I would have them. I did not. My complaints on the spot were met with call the manager if you do not like it. Manager is not available when you call. Room smelled like someone had sprayed Fabrize to cover up death smell or something. A $60 deposit on room smell was required before I could check in and this was not on the web site as something that was a condition. I felt like the hotel was trying to cheat me out of my $60 deposit also.

Our trip was only for 2days and I definitely would like to return and explore the city more. The Paramount Theatre was beautiful and we loved the Terry Fator show. Hotel was wonderful and I especially liked that the restaurant Two Brothers which is right next door to the hotel! Maybe next time we can take a chance and visit the Hollywood Casino which is also within walking distance.

Watch out for the bathroom doors if you are 5'10 or taller.

Watch out for the bathroom doors if you are 5'10 or taller. The weighted door has hooks for hanging stuff and if you are not quick enough the door will close and smash the hooks into the back of your head (like me)

Nice city and located near other cities.

Nice city and located near other cities. Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles are near. Stores, restaurants, hotels are readily available. The Fox River is scenic. River Egde Park has great concerts if you track their schedule.
