Home of the Foodie Airport

SeaTac is a small city which surrounds the airport of the same name, better known as Seattle-Tacoma Airport. It is the busiest passenger hub in the state of Washington and has the unusual distinction of having a reputation for serving good food. Its 3 parallel runways are flanked to the north and south by 2 of the city’s green parks and others are on the shores of Puget Sound, separating the city from Vashon Island.

Unsurprisingly, aviation is one of SeaTac’s biggest industries and several international airlines have their headquarters here. Much of the accommodation is also centred around the terminal buildings. Many of the hotels and cheap motels on Booking.com offer swimming pools and free airport shuttles, making that early morning departure or late night arrival so much easier.

A train links the airport directly to Seattle city centre, as does the interstate which also goes past neighbouring Tacoma. SeaTac City Hall is just off the interstate, a few streets from large Angle Lake whose calm waters are a popular spot for fishing.

To the north-west in Tukwila, the Westfield Southcenter mall is the largest shopping centre in the state and has a whole host of restaurants as well as big name brands.

    A very busy airport with long lineups so allow time especially for international travel. Although security and passport control lines were long, they moved at a good steady pace. There are many terminals and gates,ours required 2 train rides to get there

    With a handicapped partner, getting pre requested wheelchair...

    With a handicapped partner, getting pre requested wheelchair service, took us over 1 1/2 hours to make it to our gate. The TSA area was very cramped and difficult to get through. Leave extra time arrival at this airport. Very busy and a lot of construction in various areas. We rode one elevator with a painter and his large painting cart!

    Let me preface this by saying I'm a fairly seasoned traveler and I've been to airports all over the US and almost all of the major airports in the world. I despise this airport. It's entirely too busy for it's size. I feel like they could double the size of this airport. It felt cramped, there weren't any moving walkways despite how far you had to walk. There was a TSA precheck line but it was long and they probably need several dedicated lines opposed to one and a shared lane like they have. Certain parts of the airport look dated. I really really really don't like this airport. To be fair, I think they're aware of these problems which is why I saw a lot of construction/renovation going on. However, it seems like they should've done this forever ago.

    The airport is clearly past It’s best before date. Cleanliness is clearly an issue. Especially in the washrooms. Delays in flight cancellation in my experience are the norm. I do my best to avoid this airport.

    It is very busy and stressful to navigate.

    It is very busy and stressful to navigate. Car rental is offsite requiring a shuttle bus with a long line. After one reaches the car rental area, the lines are even longer. For this reason, Turo is a better option. The TSA folks do their best to handle the huge crowds passing through but it is still a pain. If you can find an alternative, do so.

    It’s a transition location; a stop on the way to elsewhere. The area where the hotel is located, it appears, is a response to travelers requiring lodging that is conveniently located. SeaTac, near the airport at least, provides that to visitors. Beyond that there does not seem much that would attract visitors.

    Happy that it is located near the airport but not subjected to noise from the airport. Very pleased when I can have an early check in to my room after a 15 hour long flight. Great to have the shuttle to pick me up from airport to/fro hotel so that I do not have to worry about not getting to my early flight the next day. A very comfortable stay and thank you!
