This was our second stay at Volcano Village Estates. My husband and I chose to come back this year for my birthday. I called ahead to ask about our stay and Lafayette was very helpful with places to find dinner and details about our stay. John also reached out to us by text to offer extra options and accommodations should we want them. Upon arrival, the greeting was warm and inviting once again. They made me feel very special and cared about. I appreciate that very much. The estate is a very lovely place and I can’t wait to come back. Huge Mahalo ❤️

Neat, clean property with lots of windows and a big porch. Peaceful and quiet.
It is 10-15 degrees cooler than on the shorelines.

We enjoyed walking the short trail behind the Lodge as well as the longer trails in the nearby Park. Kilauea Lodge is a warm, welcoming facility.

My partner and I enjoyed staying at this remote eco-lodge in Volcano, HI, as part of our honeymoon adventure, and it was truly a refreshing experience. The cabin was surrounded by lush rainforest, providing a peaceful and quiet getaway from the earlier half of our trip in the hustle and bustle of Honolulu/Waikiki on Oahu.
Despite its remote location, the cabin had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay, including a well-equipped kitchen, a cozy bed, and a spacious hot shower - even wifi. I especially appreciated the lodge's eco-friendly features, such as solar power and composting. It was minutes away from Volcano National Park and other scenic areas, where we spent most of our time exploring.
I highly recommend this remote eco cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway on the Big Island.

This B&B is in a beautiful rainforest. Convenient and free parking. Daily breakfast placed in the refrigerator. There is a beautiful garden behind the unit. The rainforest walk right next to the unit was amazing!

The green, beautiful lush forest-like atmosphere in Volcano was so breathtaking! It was peaceful and quiet (except at night) you could hear the little frogs (koki frogs) nonstop but you eventually rest and they fade as you get closer to sleep.
Even driving feels awesome!

The park was very crowded around dusk.
The park was very crowded around dusk. There were lots of cars and few places to park. It might not be that way if the volcano had not been erupting. Because of previous eruptions, part of the rim road was blocked making fewer places to actually view the caldera. Make a reservation at one of the 2 restaurants at the Volcano House for dinner around sunset for the best views. Take a sweater or sweatshirt. The wind was chilly in June. We ate at the Rim restaurant. The food was very good. Expect to pay over $35 per person without cocktails. We were dressed for a nice restaurant and were disappointed that so many people were so very casual. But, it is vacation and Hawaii.

The volcano itself was absolutely incredible.
The volcano itself was absolutely incredible. Doesn't matter how old you are, it's just one of those things that fascinates and draws you in. Must see for anyone who has the opportunity since you never know when it will shut down.

Volcano National Park is amazing!
Volcano National Park is amazing! I would plan to spend at least a day and a half there if you are visiting Big Island. There is so much to do - the highlights include hiking across a crater and visiting during the dark (after sunset or before sunrise) to see the eruption!

Although our accommodation here was nothing amazing, the location cannot be left out of your big island itinerary! I wish someone had have told us to visit the National Park after sunset (or at sunrise) before our final day here!! That would be my top tip to people staying in this area. It would have been great to see the glowing lava.

Got to see the crater smoking with hot lava, but the weather was cool and misty/foggy, so no "orange glow." The place was packed with tourists, even so. Parking lots overflowed. We enjoyed most the early morning (6am) walk to the eruption site: very few people. Many nene sitings. The Volcano House restaurant has a less-expensive sister, the Rim restaurant, right next door. Good food, great views, but like everywhere on the Island, trés expensive. Next time I would bring more money!
Perfect starting point for the Volcano Park, only 5 minutes from the entrance but literally in the forest so very quiet. Restaurants and shops within 5 minutes by car.
The Lodge has a very well equipped kitchen available if you want to prepare your food by yourself.
Jon the host ensures that the whole Inn is always very clean and tidy and he is also very helpful when you need anything.
We stayed 2 nights while visiting Hawaii Volcano National Park. The location is perfect, making it easy to visit the park at night. We stayed in the deluxe room, which has its own outside entrance (convenient for those late nights). The room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast is excellent - amazing papaya. All around a great visit.
This is a lovely, historic lodge in the heart of Volcano Village. Lush gardens on the property, relaxing hot tub, common room with games and a fireplace and charming rooms. Our room had a stained glass window and gas fireplace. Definitely worth the stay and is only 5-minute drive from Volcano National Park entrance. Highly recommended!
Great place to rest and recharge. We loved the rainforest feeling, which was a welcome change from the heat and sun of Kohala. Close proximity to Volcanoes National Park made early morning exploration and trail hiking possible. Very good internet and Wi-Fi. Kitchen fully equipped with more than enough for us to do our own cooking.
This property, and the owners, were everything we could have hoped for. They were so hospitable. The room was beautiful and relaxing, and the bed unbelievably comfortable. They gave us tips for the area and provided some snacks to make our stay more comfortable. Would definitely come back here when we are in Hawaii next.
It's very nice cottage surounded by trees, very peaceful, you hear birds and nature. Host very nice and welcoming. Close to Volcano park, there are various books and maps of Hawaii which was very helpful. Definitely would stay here again
Nice house conveniently close to the Volcanos National Park. You will have access not only to your room but to a well equipped shared kitchen and living room area. There is a groceries store and a restaurant 100 yards away.
We loved the hot tub after a whole day exploring and hiking in Volcanoes National Park. We also appreciated the breakfast they left I'm the fridge for us so we could get up as early as we wanted to do more sight seeing.
Fantastic place! The Rainforest was amazing to wake up to! They had breakfast food already in the fridge...5mins away from the volcanoe park.. Short 30min Drive to Hilo. Difficult to access if u don't have a car
Very close to the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, with heat in case of bad weather. Extra blankets available, big variety of herbs provided, collection of shampoo etc. most probably from prior visitors
Amazing. Really cosy cottage with all the facilities, clean, close to the volcano park, super friendly and with a lot of tips. Also great with kids as there is a playing room. Definitely a place to go.
Kilauea House is a great location with easy access to park and village. Beautiful room with so many thoughtful touches. Lovely in room continental breakfast with plenty of choice.
The corner window to the view of the rainforest was great! The room itself felt very secluded and private. The location was very ideal for getting to the volcano national park.
Superb in room breakfast (pastries, müesli, tea & coffee),, really nice and cosy place, very friendly owners & super close to Volcano National Park! Thanks a lot!
Good location for visiting Volcanoes National Park. If you only need a bed, it‘s ok. Kitchen is equipped with basics (cutlery, pans, coffee maker, toaster).
It was a lovely accommodation in a quiet forest. The air was cool and refreshing. I was surprised to find out that there is a place like this in Hawaii.
