Nice weekend getaway. Need a car with GPS to get around.

Nice weekend getaway. Need a car with GPS to get around. Lots of outdoor activities. Very small towns nearby so shopping is mostly antiquing/thrift stores and the like. Bring a good book. Nice for solo travel or with a few friends.

We stayed at The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in...

We stayed at The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in Whitefield, NH. We chose this grand hotel because of the location to the Lancaster Pavilion where my daughter's wedding venue was. We had our Welcome Weekend Reception in the Garden Room at the MVG over looking a flowered terrace garden with a cascading waterfall into a small pool of Lilly pads. It was the perfect place to come in June when the lawns were lush and green and the flowers were all blooming. The grand yellow hotel was a beautiful backdrop with cascading flowers for family photography pictures. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel with it's grand views. If you are not use to walking a lot choose the first floor. We stayed on the third floor with the Classic Bedroom and I absolutely loved it. We turned our two comfy chairs in our room so that we could look out the windows while having our cocktails each evening. We watched the rain clouds roll in and it was just so spectacular. My husband who is 72 did not care for the long walk to the parking lot, especially in the rain, so having vallet parking option might benefit this grand hotel. This is a great hotel to get your steps in for the day. We only used the elevator for checking in and checking out. It was fun to explore this grand beauty. Everything has been renovated recently and looks so great. I hope you enjoy this beautiful grand hotel as much as we did! For breakfast and dinner we ate here and the food was great! We also had breakfast at Grandma's Kitchen which was excellent, lots of food and the price was just right. Enjoy! PD HOYT

This was our first time in New Hampshire.

This was our first time in New Hampshire. Whitefield still has some signs of historic beauty and we stayed on the town green. There was minimal dining and the town really seems quite run down. There are other more touristy spots where the old main streets are bustling with shopping and there is a lot more to do. however, you can easily drive to those. for budget lodging it seems to be a good town. Grandma's diner is close by and has real charm.

We came to see the Fall colors ( leaf peeping).

We came to see the Fall colors ( leaf peeping). We were absolutely spoiled. We also like to browse in a local thrift store and there was one right next to the gallery and we found a couple if neat finds, as souvenirs from our visit.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The fine dining restaurant in the property was overpriced and the seafood was not fresh. However, I did enjoy the lamb but the potatoes were undercooked. At the bar, we had chowder for lunch, it was oily, watery and under seasoned. The bartender saw my displeasure and immediately removed it, with his apologies. He did not charge us for it. All the staff from the front desk to the servers were friendly and kind. The room was clean and comfortable and appeared to have been recently updated.

Perfect place to bring the family for a weekend away and to see Ice Castles (about 40 min drive). The farm is great, the restaurant is exceptional, the staff is friendly and helpful, the decor is beautiful. I hate modern hotel design but the beds are comfortable. Usually with older inns the beds are not comfortable. This was NOT the case here and the beds were so great. I'm a side sleeper and have trouble sleeping in general and this was just perfect. The kids loved the indoor pool.

Our hotel rooms were smaller than I had expected, but each of them had huge closets with space for multiple suitcases. Our beds were unusually comfortable. The bathrooms were spacious. We enjoyed walking around the grounds and visiting the barns. The staff at the barns were very friendly and spoke about the animals in an informative and caring manner. We ate one breakfast and one dinner at the inn. The food was very good and the service was attentive.

We love the old country mansion vibe. The room was huge. So many things to do at the hotel. We didn’t get to do everything. We played a board game, visited the farm, got massages. We planned on driving an hr to the outlets because my daughter wasn’t into visiting Mt Washington (20 mins away) so we didn’t visit the pool/hot tub/sauna or workout room, or game room or movie theater or go for a hike. We will be back.

Location is great with spectacular views of the mountains from the veranda …very peaceful and ideal for young families looking for a get away. Hotel organises lot of activities, there is also a farm on site and a nice outdoor pool. Food at the hotel’s restaurant Harvest Tavern was delicious but they could add more options. Will definitely come back.

Kudos to David for this gem of a hostel in his unconventional art gallery in the center of Whitefield. I don't know how he does it. It's affordable, comfortable, and everything works exactly as it should, whether he is on site or not. I appreciate his helpful signage and text messages. Each stay is better than the last. Highly recommended.

Such a beautiful hotel! Amazing location, so fancy :) We love the animals they have there. Our room was a corner room with amazing views. We couldnt have asked for a better room for just the two of us. The room is tiny but all we needed, who cares with the view. Beautiful time to visit with the spring blooms.

The in-house restaurant offered very delicious foods (dining service staffs are A+). We enjoyed it very much. Hotel had beautiful surroundings, We did not have enough time to do other activities offered but would on the next time. We loved the books and lovely paintings through out the hall way.

The hotel premises and grounds are stunning - particularly during peak fall foliage. Our room was pleasant, if a little small - but the view out the front was beautiful. The hotel has many facilities and activities, though we didn't use ourselves

Was a bit leery when we walked into an art gallery, but Dave was great and his cats were an unexpected plus. Would definitely stay there again. You do need to know that it is a hostel, not a hotel.

Great value for money, good location, clean. Even the small details were there, like soaps and hair dryer in the bathroom. More like a shared apartment than a hotel.
