We were in Vienna for the Andre Rieu Concert, but we went all over on trams and the Hop On / Hop Off bus. They do blue and red route and you can get off the blue route to go on the red route, so do research beforehand for where you want to visit.
Tram tickets are easy to buy and are cheap.
We were a party of 50/60/70 and 80 year olds ( 5 of us ) and found getting about was ideal for us all. Not to much walking, but again do your research as to where trams go.
We went to our second hotel for the last part of the trip and the 30 minute walk with luggage was just a bit much for us and we looked at a
Taxi which was 74 euros and so we went on a tram for just over 2 euros per person to go from our first hotel to the second hotel, which was a 3 minute walk to tram station.

A very walkable city with a great range of sights to take in, fantastic scenery and great amenities. Night life was very good, great selection of restaurants and bars. The Wiener Schnitzel was the highlight of the trip. Great guidance from our hotel receptionist which was to forget about making a plan and go into the city and see as much as we can. A great way to see Vienna is simply by walking between locations and coming upon extraordinary buildings and locations. Only stayed for 2 nights in early November, which was far too short. Would visit again and hope to see the Christmas markets which seemed to be plentiful.

Everything is very central.
Everything is very central. From the Cathedral in the city centre you are only 15 minutes on foot to the ring road. Consider a city pass, but make sure that you use it to the full to get get your moneys worth. Using a city transport card is preferable to the hop on hop off bus system with the city card as they only run one way in a circle and are infrequent.

Wien is such a cultural city, it is so worth visiting. Everyone was super nice to us and willing to help with directions. The views were amazing, we couldn't stay long enough to visit everything we wanted! The metro is so easy to follow, and prices all in general are pretty okay.

It's a sensational city for anyone with an interest in music, art, architecture, literature – pretty much all cultural things. Wonderful atmosphere in the quieter parts of the city, and so much to explore. There are always great exhibitions (on this occasion, it was Chagall at the Albertina), a phenomenally rich musical life (opera, concerts), and traditional Viennese cooking is a marvellous thing.

Great location only 100 yards away from the Underground (U3) which takes you in to the city centre in 3 stops. Lovely locality with nice bars and restaurants on the doorstep. A beautiful breakfast in a gorgeous room backing out on to a secluded rear garden. Many rooms overlook the garden and if we return to Vienna we would try to book one of these. Good organic vegan/vegetarian options with the breakfast which was a bonus for us. We had a comfortable spacious room at the front of the hotel and the street is very quiet.
I really liked this hotel. Very clean and quiet room, and well equipped kitchenette. I had a balcony, which was above the rooftops, and I enjoyed breakfasts and evening lights there. The hotel is little bit off from the city centre, but Vienna has very good public transport, so it is very easy to go anywhere in the city.
Hotel had beautiful Christmas decorations and my family and I felt really good staying here for a few days visiting Vienna Christkindlmarkt. Room service was great (clean room every day, clean towels, etc). It’s 20 min walk from City Centre. Parking was reserved and available as planned.
Superb value for money, really nice hotel. Only a
€4 15 minute train ride from the airport and then easy access to the city. If you're only in Vienna one or two nights and don't mind a short commute to the city centre this is perfect to keep the budget down.
