FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills Are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.

Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

I very much enjoyed staying in Salzberg. It is a beautiful city, you can easily walk around and the views are wonderful. Buy a Sazburg card at the hotel (cheaper) - it will get you entry to everything you want to see and includes public transport, cable car - everything!

Easy to walk around the old town area. So many little laneways to explore and to get from one main street to another. Enjoyed a concert at the castle and organ recital in the cathedral. Lots of musical events to attend. The Salzburg card was very useful and saves quite a bit of money if you are interested in exploring quite a few things.

I liked the most the Blue Line of the hop on, hop off bus, which allows visiting wonderful places around Salzburg, such as Konigssee and Hitler’s Eagles Nest. I also liked the public network of means of transportation, which was easy to use and there was no need for tickets as long as yoy had a hop-on, hop-off ticked or a Salzburg card.

Beautiful place with easy distance of walking and close to each other for visiting the sites of interest. The place is clean and touristy. Buy the Salizburg card and it includes almost every entrance to the sites. Avoid eating cake in Furst shops. They are below average cakes. Buy Mozzart chocolates at the Manner shops, they taste the same and costs less.

We came for the city sponsored run on Sunday; near packet pick-up on Saturday, they had a fantastic kids set-up with food and games (daughter learned to skateboard) and a kids run. We drove out to the salt caves, about 20 minutes away. Very informative and fun (underground slides and boat ride). We walked all over Salzburg, with the dog. Unfortunately, the bike lane along the river is against the grass side, where the dog prefers (and needs) to walk. We didn't have time for other major site visits on this trip.

LOVED the location and history associated with the hotel. On top of a mountain, great to hike to castles 🏰 and other historical sites. There is a short walk on a trail to get to a lift (if you don't want to walk down the mountain) that will take you down to the old part of the city. Or take a taxi to Old Town for €14. Lots of shopping, restaurants, beautiful buildings, etc.. Scrumptious breakfast buffet with lots of choices. Rooms very clean and spacious with wonderful views of Salzburg and the Alps.

Spacious and clean room rooms; all necessary equipment to cook for family; washing machine (important as stay was part of a multi-stage holiday); quietness of room; ease of entry and exit; modern facilities; location - we were aware it was out of the city centre, but it was easy to walk to from the train station and we were able to get bus tickets from the shop opposite the aparthotel and get the bus from right outside to the old town in ten minutes. Really lovely base for our first visit to Salzburg.

Location in old town was great, easy walking distance to Christmas Market, Museum etc. Took bus #10 to the airport, one bus and a 1 minute walk to bus stop. Communication, emailed, was easy and response to questions was immediate. Next door to 2 restaurants, Meiers, known for great steaks, Hofers know for traditional Austrian food, would recommend both. The combination of old and new and built into the side of the hill was a nice touch.

The room was nicely furnished and with 3 beds we still had plenty of room to move around. We were happy with parking being located right out front of the building. The breakfast was very tasty and the space was nice. If you are using the metro system to come in to Salzburg, this is your hotel. We liked that the toilet room and the shower room were separate places. Travelling with a teen, this was a really convenient feature.

Location is superior. Customer service was fantastic- reception helped with maps- the salzburg card- calling a cab for me in the morning to the train station (which was only at 12 euro ride and they drop you off/pick you up right by the hotel) The room was very quiet and there was AC ;) Vending machine with wine/snacks in the basement is a good bonus if you feel like having a glass after hours in your room.
