All meals, incl.breakfast, were very good, compliments to the chef! The staff were welcoming, friendly, and efficient, especially Oriana and Pablo. The best of them all was Gabriel : when my husband left his phone on the back seat of the cab, Gabriel offered to help, taking the trouble to contact both the taxi company and the restaurant we were driven from, found the cab driver, and we got the phone delivered back to the hotel!! One thousand THANKS to Gabriel from Elizabeth and Eugene! This is what I would call hospitality.

FAQs about hotels in Rio de Janeiro

Sassy City of Samba

Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.

Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.

The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – it's unforgettable, but the fun doesn't end there. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, where trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.

Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take a cable car up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.

Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘ Marvelous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

I think that Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful...

I think that Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I have visited Rio more than 10 times in my life and I have never had a bad time. I think that my consistent positive experiences have a lot to do with which neighborhoods and beaches I choose to visit, and what kind of activities I partake in that help to keep me safe. I usually stay in Ipanema, and I never stay in Copacabana or visit Copacabana Beach. In addition, I try to be hyper-aware of my surroundings when I am in public, especially at night. I stay away from large crowds, and I never get intoxicated in public. I never wear jewelry or expensive/designer clothes in public, but I do wear simple clothes that don't attract attention. I never put or hold my cell phone anywhere that a thief can easily grab it and run away. And I NEVER put my cell phone in my back pocket... -that rule applies to most major tourist cities in the world (Paris, Madrid, Rome, Rio, etc.) because pick-pockets will try to take it. It's true that Rio can be a dangerous place, but if you follow basic commons sense rules you can significantly lower your risk and have an amazing time. Remember that most thieves/criminals are lazy and are looking for easy targets, -so follow the basic rules and the thieves/criminals are likely to ignore you.

Rio de Janeiro is a big city with a lot of tourist places. There is a lot to see Sugar Loaf mountain, Christ the redeemer,Copacabana & Ipanema beach. Its better to use Uber instead of a taxi their much cheaper. Rio de Janeiro residents advises tourists not to go out late at night to far from your hotel of appartement because its not safe. The view from Christ the Redeemer looking over Rio de Janeiro is very magnificent 😍.

Rio de Janeiro is a great city to visit!

Rio de Janeiro is a great city to visit! You have to be cautious about wearing wedding rings and other valuable things. Take Uber to go around, and you will be just fine. Have fun in Rio! In the pictures, you will see the clean laundry in the two plastic bags that we had to pay to have washed because the sheets and towels were very dirty, smelled very bad, and the picture of the water heater, which is a huge hazard in that apartment.

We stayed in Recreio and Copacabana in Rio.Both are nice but different beach places.Copacabana is more crowded,Recreio is more silent and peaceful. Both were our favourites.Recreio is a little far from Rio center and other places,Copacabana is in the middle of action. We recommend to take accomodation near Copacabana for easy moving everywhere. We used Uber what is very cheap in Rio and easy to get. Both places we had flats which we prefer for hotels.More privacy and you can cook if you like. In Rio is also easy to get around with subway.Eating places are everywhere for every taste and price. We liked music clubs in Copacabana.

    I love Rio. Especially Copacabana.

I love Rio. Especially Copacabana. It is a great place to arrive in Brazil and to spend a few days before leaving the country. Uber and taxi work great. Be aware of rush hours thought. Don’t hesitate to ask the drivers for recommendations. Carioca, natives from Rio, are very friendly and proud of their city. And if you like soccer, it is a great way to start good chats along the way.

Rio is one of those fabulous iconic world cities that must be visited at least once in a person's lifetime. One downside in Brazil for visitors from certain countries is that a real Italian Cappuccino is almost impossible to find!

Located in a calm and safe region of Copacabana, this hotel is at walking distance from the Leme beach and fine restaurants, and at a quick taxi ride from everything in Rio's south zone. It's not as expensive as an equivalent or inferior hotel in Ipanema or Leblon, but offers great facilities, such as a top floor pool and bar, with spectacular views to the beach, good breakfast and very supportive and approachable staff. Leme is one of the best places to stay in Rio and this hotel is a very nice one and excellent value for money.

The breakfast is excellent, the hotel is nice, and the rooms are big. It is just in front of the beach, making things easy if you travel with small kids. The location is good, but it is far from the main city attractions, like Copacabana or Ipanema beaches, the Pao de Acucar, or Christ the Redeemer.
