Wiesbaden was a perfect couple of days stopover and alternative for Frankfurt, a simple 45 minutes from the airport by S8/S9 train. It’s a compact city with easy walking distances, and reasonably priced taxis, due to short distances. There are some shopping malls, and good cafes, restaurants in the old city. The city offers facilities that echo the nineteenth century imperial spa town set up for the royal court (fine parks and gardens, opera, theatre, comedy, casino, art gallery) and a thriving artistic life. Wiesbaden is a lovely city, not too large, great for walks through old neighborhoods. Bring a foldable cup and stop at the various fountains to drink forever flowing mineral water. The Kochbrunnen water is hot and smelly, but good for you! Don’t miss having cake and coffee at Cafe Maldaner. It is always busy. On the weekend you might have to stay in line.

I only stayed one night in Wiesbaden for the Business Summit where the Swedish Crown princess was the guest of honor. It seemed to be a very nice city and I would like to come back and explore it more.

I love this city! The old town is the perfect size to just wander in, and there are so many cultural and historical sights within short walking distance. Loved how accessible all of it was. Our room had everything needed for an overnight stay. The breakfast was very good. We also had to stay for several hours after the checkout doing some urgent work before departure, and the spacious lobby of the hotel was very convenient for that, so that we did not bother anybody nor were bothered ourselves.
