We were there mid-April and the cherry blossoms and other flowers around the hotel and the Alster were in full bloom and absolutely gorgeous :). When we were there, the weather was perfect, but it can be a bit cold and windy, but wear proper clothing and all is good :)

I have often visited Germany as our daughter lived in Heidelberg for 10 years. However, this was my first trip to Hamburg and I would like to return. My son and I came to visit Miniatur Wunderland which was absolutely fantastic. Travelling round Hamburg was very cheap and easy due to excellent public transport. There were plenty of places to eat and we found prices to be generally very reasonable. Hamburg couldn't help the cold and wet weather we experienced so a return in the summer would be sensible!

We arrived to our hotel site in the rain.
We arrived to our hotel site in the rain. There is no drive up in front of the building, no parking close to the building so you can check in. You have to go to the 8th floor to check in and rooms are on 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. They put us in a room with a SMALL bed (full or 3/4 size), there were exactly 2 towels. There was one glass. It was a tiny room. I personally would not recommend this hotel to my friends or others. The breakfast service was good.

The Miniature Wonderland is a must go!
The Miniature Wonderland is a must go! I also recommend a visit to the Philharmonic building. Getting into a 100m long old military submarine is something that I never dreamed about. Super interesting!
The city is full of high designed buildings and nice places to go.

I travel to Hamburg every year for a convention, so my purpose for visiting is not tourism in the first instance.
However, over time I have been able to visit many of Hamburg's cultural attractions and can highly recommend it as a tourist destination.
Public transport is efficient and punctual, and everywhere is easily accessible.
Visit Hamburg - it's a great city!

Hamburg was a surprise.
Hamburg was a surprise. It's not a tourist city as such, I mean they have things to see and tour buses, but it's not the mainstay by any means (no tourist tat shops gives that away!) This is a working port town in one part and an absolutely stunning old town/commercial centre on the other.
The retail opportunities are fabulous so this would be a recommended visit for a shopping trip.
Culturally, there are things to see. We visited the Rathaus and Kunsthalle for example and found these very interesting.
There's history mixed with a lot of new and as mentioned, it's a working town so old buildings and canals with new high rise office blocks. Super clean and easy to get about though. Walk or cycle, don't bother with the train if you're staying in the centre.
One thing to avoid would be Reeperbarn as its tacky, full of cheap bars and sex based options (unless that's your plan for a trip there).
All in all, I would go back again. Shopping and socialising in the city centre are key. Go when it's warm to make the most of the abundant cafe culture outside.
The room delivered all that were expected, well furnished, good bed, clean and all needed armenities available. Breakfast very well, something for anyone and a good variety, nice breakfast restaurant. Location suited us perfect and were chosen exactly for the purpose, very close to the Cruise Ship terminal in Hamburg. We did not look for scenic views from the hotel, such does not exist, but a nice, clean and easy access, arriving in the evening and departing with a cruise ship in the morning.
well first I would like to thank one of the reception staff for their friendliness, it was 5 stars for me. second the bed of the room a beautiful thing . a pure dream for those who lie down in it a room for me super futuristic the floor and magnificent I will stay there next time I come back Hamburg. I recommend this hotel ..... well I didn't have breakfast because I like to eat an hamburger first thing in the morning. but I went down to see it and it looked magnificent.... 😇😇😇😇🕉
Cheap hotel within few hundred metres from the Hamburg airport - a convenient option for an early morning flight.
There is a nice sidewalk all they way from the airport. It is best accessed via ramp from the departure level of the airport building (I mistakenly used much less convenient way from the arrivals level at first).
Complimentary bottle of water was a nice touch.
The hotel is very conveniently located, just a ten minute walk from Hamburg Hbf and close to the U and S-Bahn. There is also a small shopping centre nearby, with a big supermarket and some food outlets. The hotel appears to be quite new, with fresh and bright rooms, which are nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and cheerful.
The staff on check-in was very helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. The location was the very best, as we had a flight out of Hamburg Airport the next morning. The hotel is only three to five minutes from the airport departures area, and it has a shuttle that runs on the hour and half hour.
My son and I wanted somewhere to sleep two nights when we came to Hamburg to visit the Miniatur Wunderland. This Ibis Budget Hotel did the job. It was warm, clean, had comfortable beds and was reasonably priced. Also, the shower was one of the best I have ever experienced in a hotel at any price!
The room was light and airy with a wood floor. Bed was comfortable and although the bathroom was small, the shower was hot and powerful. Location was great for Hamburg Messe and the centre could be reached 1 stop on the metro. I would consider this hotel again if I was visiting the Messe.
Perfect Hotel for a short stay in Hamburg if you don't want to spend a lot of money on the accommodation and still have a good location for the public transportation or to walk in the city centre.
The room for three persons is also big enough and comfortable.
Good location, close to public transport. Check-in and check-out were possible without the presence of the hotel stuff. Considering how cheap this hotel was compared to some other ones in Hamburg in a similar location I think it was worth the money.
This is a bit of a gem of a hotel. Very modern and recently refurbished tastefully. Good location in the suburbs of Hamburg but is very close to the train andf bus stations so connectivity is easy to get into Hamburg centre. Breakfast was good too.
Lovely old school building tastefully and thoughtfully renovated into hotel. Echoes of its past in some unobtrusive corners . : )
Great location too, nearby 2 x U bahn stops. V handy to reach Hamburg city centre yet slightly out so quieter.
This is a wonderful hotel very centrally located. The clerk who checked us in was friendly & helpful. We are not German speakers and he kindly spoke to us in English. It was our first night in Germany & we were made to feel very welcome.
location is quite centre of Hamburg, breakfast is very good and standard of scandic hotel chain . rooms are clean and comfortable , size is just perfect. Just in front of U-Bahn exit, very convenient for go anywhere or Hauptbahnhof.
Beautiful hotel, very well located for the train station and the city centre. Room was comfortable and modern, quiet at night. The hotel facilities including the bar and the breakfast were excellent. We had a great stay.
Excellent location right by the river promenade and transit. There's a grocery store across the street. This is the area of Hamburg with many Portuguese restaurants (including one associated with the hotel).
Good and decent in the South of Hamburg. Close to Bergedorf and easy to get the train to Hamburg City Centre. Very nice breakfast, rooms were good. A good Hotel that has everything you need.
It's a 5 star Hotel, so expect a 5 star stay. Breakfast it's soooo gooood. Very big variaty.
Location also close to Hamburg Train station, harbour and city center. Recommend.
