Excellent hotel in the center of Leipzig with a large, clean room. Exceptional soundproofing (our room was just below the rooftop terrace, but we couldn't hear a thing). Beautiful rooftop terrace with a great view of the city. Although it's not possible to reserve a parking spot in advance in the hotel's garage, we had no trouble finding a space as there were always a few spots available.

This was my fifth stay at the Elaya Hotel, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. Hands down the best location for the money—right in the heart of the city, just a 2-minute walk from the S-Bahn station at Am Markt. This time, I was lucky enough to get a room with a small rooftop terrace, which was absolutely perfect for enjoying a quiet morning coffee. Comfortable, convenient, and consistently reliable—Elaya continues to be my go-to spot whenever I’m in town.

Famous for its history and exceptional architecture, Leipzig is an important city of commerce and culture. Called a “Little Paris” and home to many great composers and poets, this city has something for everyone’s taste.

    I was visiting family and stayed in Plagwitz.

    I was visiting family and stayed in Plagwitz. It's a lovely area, very chilled and relaxing if you like hanging out. I wouldn't say there's loads to do in Plagwitz or even in Leipzig athough the museum is really good. The Plagwitz area is great for cyclists though.

    A historical city with a charm blended with both calmness and vitality. Not dauntingly huge nor tediously tiny. The exuberance of history and culture is fascinating. Perfect for a stay of one day or two, and I wouldn’t say no to a couple of days more.

    Leipzig is putting on its historical dress.

    Leipzig is putting on its historical dress. Conversing with long-time Leipzigers at a Gewandhaus symphony concert, their perspective was that "Leipzig is a music city like Vienna" and that you could spend a long time digging into its history and soaking in the music. Our short stay gave us a glimpse of this. Posters for recitals and concerts were everywhere during our visit in early April. Worth a longer trip!

    Leipzig is a beautiful city for a short break. There is very little traffic and everywhere is within walking distance. It has many beautiful cafes to sit and watch the world go by and many museums and other attractions. If you get a chance, I would recommend an audio tour of Leizig under communism. A fascinating look at the recent past.

    The city centre is compact and easily visited on foot. There are many points of interest with particular emphasis on history and music. It has strong connections with the Bach family, Mendelsohn and Wagner. It is also the starting point for the reunification of Germany in 1989.

    - Online check in worked smoothly. - Figuring out how to move the closet side of the room back and forth to reveal the full size bed was a treat. - The dart, crossbow game behind the door kept me entertained for longer than I care to admit. All that to say that the room was an experience on its own and it’s rare that the hotel room is more than the place you go to sleep. The rest of the amenities were great too and I would definitely book again for future Leipzig trips.
