Fun and Sun on the Costa Brava
A vibrant Costa Brava resort at the foot of mountains, Lloret de Mar has fabulous beaches and plenty to do for all ages. Carrer de Sant Pere leading inland from the beach has lots of international brands shopping and exclusive jewellers. The town also has excellent nightlife, with a wealth of restaurants, bars and one of the Costa Brava’s biggest casinos.
For a taste of culture, the Verdaguer Centre has relics from the Iberian settlement of Puig de Castellet dating to 250 BC.
Just north is Water World, one of Europe’s biggest waterparks, while offshore watersports include diving, snorkelling and sea kayaking. Lloret de Mar also offers go-karts and a few golf courses.
In the center of town are Booking.com’s selection of guest houses, apartments and hotels with pools, while high-rise Lloret de Mar hotels face the town’s 2 beaches – Fenals and Lloret. The latter has a long, tree-lined promenade ending at one of the craggy coves typical of this coastline. The walk up to the cliffs is worth it for the views over the town and Mediterranean Sea.
As Lloret de Mar is only around a 30 minute drive from Girona Airport, it’s not long before you can dip your toes in the water.

The areas is a little run down, the beach is expensive to park, and if you hire a car like we did good luck putting it somewhere. Yes there are parking areas but its £33 a day. We found a secret car park that was free off season. You can park on the road if there are no lines Not a lot to do in the area and not a lot advertised (like go karting and water park we found as we left). Overall its got a nice beach a but parking and bars are expensive on the front (uk prices). I wont go back, no point, seen it all and the streets are not worth walking twice. Weather wise, its north spain so expect it to be hot one day cloudy by 4pm, we had two days raining as its May, when costa del sol is 27 and pure sun. Good though its only 2 hours Barcelona worth the visit as its massive, but not the beaches.

Lloret de Mar was a lovely place but as we stayed at the end of April the water park was not open , the weather wasn’t great for days on the beach either, even if the weather was good the sand on the beach was very gritty so it made it very painful to walk on. We went as a couple in our early 50’s , we were unable to find entertainment at night so would have been worse with children, it’s definitely a place for younger ones to party at nightAngela JaneUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Lovely place to just wander and explore. Really pretty lots of lovely bars and restaurants to sit and watch the world go by. There is a beautiful sandy beach and some fabulous walks with hidden gems to find

The small town surely has its own charm for certain groups of people, but probably not for families with small children, the beach is not clean, the sand is too rough for kids to play with, and the waves are too strong for swimming, which are very disappointing for my toddler. We did enjoy the hiking path along the coastline though， which was unexpected in my trip planning.

Lloret seems to be quite a sleepy seaside town with not much going on except the beach, but that was fine as that was all we wanted. There were lots of pubs and nightclubs around but 99% seemed to be closed. Again, this was great for us as we dislike that kind of thing! If you want to go for a jog on the beach, or a coastal walk or simply sit on the balcony and be mesmerised by the constantly changing sea view, this place is for you. I had hoped that I would find more Catalan speakers, as I am learning this language. All the shops and signposts are in Catalan, but most people speak Castillian Spanish. A wonderfully relaxing winter sun holiday for those who want to escape Christmas capitalist overkill.Emma - 4.0Scored 4.0

Very busy shops. Streets are really dirty and smelly! Smell like urine and drains. We also got lost ALOT and ended up walking in dodgy back streets. No signage and constantly on Google maps. We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old villa on the hilltop overlooking the sea. The interior, the exterior and the setting are classical old world Spain. The staff were all terrific and we really enjoyed dinner in the restaurant as well as the excellent breakfast. Plenty of areas to relax but unfortunately October was too cold to use the pool. Lots of parking. Would stay here again. Highly recommended.

There is very straight path-shortcut to the beach (5-8min) or you can pick series of variants to walk across the city center passing a lot of shops and restaurants through beautiful streets still ending up on the beach!:) Nice and romantic places aside the beach, and countless touirist attractions!
