Room was nice and clean and a comfortable bed, what more is needed
A good nights sleep, isn't that why you stay in a hotel?
A good nights sleep, isn't that why you stay in a hotel? Matress completely unacceptable. Wrong room on arrival offered a twin to push together ( on our anniversary) couldn't believe what we were hearing. It then took the best part of 3 hours to find us a room which made us miss our reservation for the restaurant we had booked in advance.
All being said the staff were very nice, just not educated enough on hospitality. Speaking from experience as a general manager at a high end hotel.
I will most certainly not be recommending anyone else to use holiday inn east kilbride!
It spoiled our whole stay if I'm to be brutally honest, especially the mattress.
As for breakfast 🙄 first morning we were told to quickly grab what we wanted as they were clearing it away, but that was just before 9am when it should be served until 9.30am

The EK covered shopping area is very run down and has lots of empty shop units again increasing the feeling of neglect. only a few places left to get a hot meal so choice very limited. I ate 5 times at the Wetherspoons pub so by the 4th night my choices were becoming limited.

The carpark on level 3 for the hotel was closed, we had no prior warning of this. We parked on level 2 and phoned reception for advice, Cara was very sweet as she told us to walk up the fire escape stairs, and up the shopping centre stairs with our bags and case, which was a long way and the fire escape was disgusting, a perfect place for those with malintent to lurk, I have COPD so not ideal but we did it; then we had to walk the entirety of the level 3 carpark in pouring rain with our luggage (we were doing a tour of Scotland and several bags), had to then wait in a foyer pushing dirty buttons before the door opened (btw, once we'd checked in and had a key card there wasn't an option to use the card to operate those foyer doors). Once we got in we got the lift to the 12th floor, Cara was nice and we bought coffees, we had to go back to the lifts for floor 8, our room was at the end of that floor. We were going to a family party that night and getting back to the hotel was awful, we again had to walk up the fire escape,, not easy with my condition , it was dark, scary, dirty and I was so unsettled, the wait in the foyer was a nightmare waiting to get in, some strange and desperate people about late at night.
My advice would be, have an entrance on the ground floor incase of carpark issues and people with medical conditions having problems, can you imagine how a wheelchair user would fare
Secondly, set your access doors and key cards so people can get through the foyer if they are using the carpark entrance.

Didn't seem to be much there on first inspection, we noticed lots of car parking but couldn't make up our minds what it was for, there were no shops on view and it wasn't until our last day that we made an effort to go to the shopping centre and were pleasantly surprised to find a plethora of stores. We spent a pleasant morning looking round.
We decided on East Kilbride because of parking and we were able to get into Glasgow by train, which was a pleasant journey.
I feel the town is a little bit clinical, by that I mean there is no heart, or should I say art. It has no soul. It lacks something.
Why are all the houses painted white?
On our first night we could only find Carrigans restaurant and that was booked up. So we booked for another night and it was so good we went back 3 times. The food was very good but the only other alternatives were to eat at the hotel or fast food restaurants, sorry not for us.

I like East Kilbride because I lived here for 18 years. Nice village and Calderglen Country Park worth a visit. Sadly the shopping centre has been run down over the past few years with stores closing and not being replaced. Go to Silverburn ( about 10 miles away) for shops

Be aware of car parking signage and register your car at reception to avoid getting a ticket. I thought by ticking the box for parking when booking that my parking was covered but received a ticket on returning home.
This was a very last minute & unexpected visit to East Kilbride.
The accommodation was absolutely, perfect, the beds were super comfy and the wifi mega fast too. Lovely quiet neighbourhood and very easy to find and get about.
Kitchen has everything you need, however we only stayed 1 night so went for a fish 'n chips takeaway.
Perfect stay & definitely recommend it rather than staying in a hotel.
It really feels like a home away from home with all the comforts.
It was spotless not a bit of dust beautifully done out modern comfy beds good quality bed sets (sheets quilt ect) bustop on the doorstep in to Glasgow and East Kilbride the man we rented it of was a really nice man who couldn't have done enough even rang half way through the week to see if we needed anything also offered to take us the shop wen we first got there I'd definitely stay there again and thank you for making our stay enjoyable
The location was perfect for me before my wedding, plenty of space for family and friends to visit and right next to the train station. The hosts were INCREDIBLE- we were able to check in early and he was very responsive to messages. They even left a bottle of Prosecco and a card which got the wedding celebrations off to a great start. Couldn’t recommend enough! Thanks Richie!
Very modern hotel rooms which were really comfortable and clean, breakfast was excellent. Great service and staff were very helpful and friendly. Public transport only across the road from the hotel to get into Glasgow city centre. Ideal! Saved a lot of money in travelling. Great value for money staying here 😀
The flat was exactly what we needed for our trip back to East Kilbride to visit friends. Close to amenities so that we could walk to things and bigger than it looked on the photos. The beds were comfortable and it was great to have two bathrooms to use. There was plenty of space for us to have visitors too.
I needed a cheap place to sleep for one night. I arrived around 10 at night and left early the next morning. The room was worn but clean and the bed was comfortable. I don't have breakfast and, due to COVID, the bar was closed too. That wasn't a problem either. I would stay there again.
Ground floor apartment steps away from a good supermarket and a 5 minute drive from the train station with ample parking for an easy day trip into the city of Glasgow. It was well equipped and very clean . A nice place to come back to relax at after a day of sightseeing.
Lovely, comfortably furnished flat with everything you need, from a bottle opener to a dishwasher. Right beside Hairmyres train station so a short hop into Glasgow. There’s a Lidl and a couple of restaurants within walking distance.
Attentive host who was easy to reach.
Breakfast was good but lack of staff slowed service down.
Room was fine, leaking toilet was a problem that wasn’t resolved
Dinner was okay but menu was limited
Staff were very pleasant but too few of them for the number of guests staying at the hotel.
Evening meal and Breakfast was very good, even when busy there was no long wait and the staff were very pleasant and hard working. Hotel is in an excellent location, lovely village but close to all Glasgow has to offer and free parking is an added bonus.
Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. Room was clean and tidy. Staff were polite. Great location for the South Side of Glasgow. Plenty parking available and free.
