Beautiful property ideally located on the promenade. Room was well maintained and spacious, very comfortable and overlooking the sea. Staff were exceptional and very friendly. Pete was very welcoming and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. He clearly loves his job and is an excellent ambassador for the Halvard Hotel. Rachel, Chloe and Grace also very friendly and efficient.

We know the Isle of Man very well and although Douglas has suffered through the current financial crisis, it is still a good city to visit. The museum is free and very informative. The tour of the government building likewise. It is easy to get around the city and buses to other parts of the island are plentiful. There is a range of restaurants to suit every pocket and we also cane home with Isle of Man kippers. People are friendly, including the lovely staff at the Hydro. I would always encourage visitors to make Douglas a base and travel all over the Island. Peel, Ramsey and Castletown all are worth a visit and offer differing aspects of the Island.

Douglas is a seaside town with most places in close...
Douglas is a seaside town with most places in close proximity to each other; the ferry terminal and Tourists Information Centre, the shops, cafés, pubs, banks, museum, and the two seafront theatres. The Villa Marina is a large theatre and cinema. The Gaiety Theatre is a smaller and most charming old theatre. Further down the Seafront is The Palace Cinema. I enjoyed a good film there. Comfortable seats. There a nice chippies around the town. The bus route Douglas to Ramsey along the coast road has stunning views. The other main towns are quick and easy to get to on bus, and the airport too. That's just half hour away.
The hotel is excellently located just off main promenade in Douglas. You have easy access to a number of bars, restaurants and the sea front is just across the road. Staff are friendly and the hotel is clean if a little dated. Breakfast is served each morning with usual range of cereals, juices and fruit and the options of a full fry with staff keen to accommodate your requirements. We had 1 dinner and it was fine. Would recommend this hotel for location and has a nice bar for a drink in the evenings.
We just loved it. Easy walk from the ferry and beautiful hotel waiting for us. It looks great from the street and our room overlooking the bay was lovely. Everything a grand hotel should be. Nice bathroom with a bath for soaking. Excellent central location. Close to buses and trams. Bed very comfortable . Great staff, especially breakfast manager and staff. Nice pool downstairs.
Would love to come back and stay here again. Beautiful island, beautiful hotel.
We came to Isle Of Man parkrun and the weather was extremely windy and wet. We were due to book in at 3pm at the Best Western Palace so when we arrived at the hotel, we were wet through and very muddy.
We couldn’t go to our rooms as we were too early, but we were allowed to use the pool, spa and showers to clean up and change into dry clothes. We were so relieved to have a hot shower with towels and facilities all free.
All of the staff were very friendly and keen to assist. Breakfast was good and was served at the sister hotel, next door but one, which also has a bar. The hotel is located just off the sea front, where there is a convenient bus stop for frequent buses to and from Douglas city centre, the Sea Terminal and the Airport. The same buses also serve Castletown and Port Erin.
The location was ideal, beautiful property and preserved period features.
If you want a modern look , this isn't for you but if you are in isle of man, this is what you should book as the property has all the plus points you need. Right on the promenade and close to trams and bus station. Food was delicious and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
Classic hotel. Very personable and friendly staff. Made one feel at home. Breakfast was eggs, toast, beans, cereal, tea/coffee, juice and individually served and cooked. Quite good. Hotel hasn't been refurbished in years, which gives it an old fashioned slow down type look. Room was expertly made up every day. I very much enjoyed my stay here.
Breakfast was excellent, staff were very friendly & helpful eg getting times for steam train etc. also, the receptionists were exceptionally helpful, printing off our boarding passes & booking our taxi to the airport. The hotel is well positioned for getting around Douglas on foot.
We had a great stay in the Claremont hotel. The view to the Douglas bay along with the Refuge is stunning. The staff was very helpful and went an extra mile to make our stay pleasurable. The rooms are cosy and well-maintained. Once back in Douglas I'll definitely stay there again.
A very clean, fresh comfortable hotel with a tasty breakfast. Room 12 was lovely and we had a separate sitting area to relax in. We enjoyed our stay and was spoiled by Yolandi our Host. I would recommend this Hotel and would stay again.
lovely hotel, tastefully modernised without spoiling the original character, great service, very good breakfast. we had a ground floor Art Deco room lovely but no view. very good location at North end of Douglas promenade.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Halvard Hotel on the Isle of Man and I must say that it was a fantastic experience. The staff were excellent, providing exceptional service throughout our stay. Thank you!
We went to stay in Isle of Man as our son was getting married there 👍 He suggested the hotel as it was near a lot of facilities (eg. Buses, shops, promenade, eating places) & we were happy with that 😀
I come Isle of Man for work twice a year, since covid I haven’t been able to come but previously I stayed this hotel and now every time I come over I will be staying here, 10 out of 10.
Spacious room. Bathroom fitted out to high standard. Room was available after an early morning flight. The phone link at reception to neighbouring hotel to check in worked well.
The hotel has an excellent location which what I needed for work. The rooms were comfortable and clean which is all I require when working away from home.
