Douglas is lovely, lots or restaurants, bars and shops it is clean and feels safe. The seafront is great lovely view of the harbour and is well maintained. There is a theatre which looked fabulous but we didn't have time to stay for a show.

I lived in Douglas for 3 years, 20 years ago, so I know it well. Although, there has been many changes. Nice city, friendly people, things to see. A city you can relax in as it's not like other cities.

Once we got a parking pass from the ferry terminal it was very easy parking around the island. It made it easier as the hotel didn't have a car park but you could leave the car on the promenade for up to 16 hours in 24. We went in October but had a good week it never rained all the time we were there. The hotel was brilliant, in the right location and as we took the car we were able to get around. The hotel had a pianist playing in the background so the ambience whilst just chatting was excellent. Food was excellent and plenty of choice, also good value on the bar meals. Thank you Empress hotel for making it a good few days away.

The Museum is well worth a visit.

The Museum is well worth a visit. The city centre is compact but has everything. Clean, no litter, unspoilt. Beautiful wide promenade. Good cafes and restaurants. Parking is limited to 2 hours in the centre but free. Longer free parking allowed outside the centre.

We were shown around the island by friends who lived there...

We were shown around the island by friends who lived there it was so picturesque and we will defiantly return when we can spend more time in really exploring what the island has to offer , the weather prevented us from walking around as it was very windy and raining so will return in the summer to explore further, it has many point of interest and has a wide variety of scenery , it is a mecca for motorbikes and cycling with mountain routes , but can equally be enjoyed by others not keen on these pastimes. A car is a great way to get around the complete island and we would consider taking our vehicle on the ferry next visit.

Our suite was wonderful, extremely clean and very friendly staff. The breakfast was probably the best which we have had world wide, including 5 star hotels - and served with a smile. We will be back in the Spring and will definitely be booking at The Regency. A final note - due to family illness back in England, we had to cut our visit short by one day, and the staff were very supportive and helpful in this.

We went with my inlays as its been 53 years since they have been back to the Isle of man. The hotel treated us really well. Nothing was a bother to them. All staff always say hello. Breakfast was lovely we never had lunch or dinner. Little extras ordered drinks at night and got a bowl of crisps. Little touch goes song way. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again.

The Island is a very welcoming and comfortable hotel run by Celine, Antony and Reanne. Communications from Celine were very good. The rooms are spacious and very clean with very nice showers too! Breakfast is wonderful, with a range of cereals to a full cooked breakfast and even kippers. The breakfasts were a perfect and welcome start to a busy day at the Isle of Man.

I've been known to say that the Victorian hotels on Douglas promenade need knocking down. However the level of detail given to the rooms and the guest's stay here are fantastic. Exceptional breakfast.
