This is a truly fantastic hotel and this was our third time staying there. Great, convenient location - a short distance to the excellent Madingley Road Park and Ride service into Cambridge. Shops and Service Station very nearby. The hotel itself is modern, spotlessly clean and the staff are very welcoming and so kind and helpful. The rooms are not very big but they are fine as a base for a short stay. We were sharing our room with our son and dog but it would be fine for a couple. The shower rooms are very well equipped, great toiletries, plenty of hot water and lovely soft towels. The beds are very comfortable, excellent air conditioning, television, hairdryer and iron/ironing board. We have already booked another stay in October.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. Right next to the train station so ideal when commuting by train, but also very quiet. Its also only a 20 to 25 min walk ( depending on how fast you walk) from the main tourist attractions in the centre of Cambridge but there is also a bus stop close by. The hotel had a nice laid back vibe with friendly staff. The twin room was small but very comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. It was also nice to have instructions next to the air conditioning controls making it easier to control the temperature of the room.

FAQs about hotels in Cambridge

The Inspiration for Genius

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.

Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!

Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.

Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.

Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

Review of My 5-Day Stay in Cambridge

Review of My 5-Day Stay in Cambridge I recently spent five days in Cambridge for a business trip, and it turned out to be a perfect mix of work and exploration. Business Side: The city is very business-friendly, with plenty of cafés and co-working spots where you can catch up on emails or hold informal meetings. Wi-Fi was generally reliable everywhere I went, and the train connections to London made commuting easy when needed. The atmosphere is calm but professional, which makes it easy to focus.

City full of fantastic architecture and history. Beautiful river and punting. Great selection of bars and restaurants although they do close very early compared to other places. We went outside term time - city weirdly has a very Chinese/Korean culture.

A lovely part of the world.

A lovely part of the world. Lots of green areas and some lovely older buildings. Lots of history for sure. Had a lovely meal out at a pub which had a punting station and a lovely view of the river. Not the best car friendly place as some older towns can be but that is not unusual. Lot of cycles around no doubt ridden by a lot of students

The best hotel I've stayed at! The owners are extremely kind and helpful, I felt very appreciated and all my needs were met. The room is small but it is very comfortable and it has everything it needs - a flat-screen TV, a small fridge, a kettle. There is also a microwave accessible to all guests. Everything is very clean, I had fresh towels every day. The bus stop is just a minute away across the road. I will definitely stay there one more time if I ever visit Cambridge again.

Great location, very easy to walk into Cambridge city centre from the hotel.. Rooms were very clean. Staff were absolutely lovely - very helpful and welcoming. They kindly stored our luggage after check out and leant my friend a phone charger which was much appreciated. We went on a brilliant walking tour and a group punting trip booked via Scudamores and had a delicious meal at La Mimosa. Highly recommend them all.

Great Breakfast selection, helpful staff, good size room and great shower. Next to the train station (10mins Cambridge) every 30mins. Car Park 7.50 a day - cheaper on the train station if at a weekend. Pub opposite closed at weekends but a small Bar in the Hotel. Pizza and Curry available in the evening. 25 Min walk to the Tickle Arms in the next village - worth the walk - great Drinks,Food and Service.

Great location. We stayed here as a cheaper option to in the centre of Cambridge and there was a bus direct to Cambridge from just a 2 minute walk away which took around 30minutes. Hotel was spotless, staff really friendly, breakfast was great. Bed was really comfy. We stayed with a 16 month and the hotel kept out ice packs in the freezer for us and allowed us to use their microwave when needed.
