The check-in process was fast and the staff were helpful.
The restaurant offers a sumptuous and soul satisfying lamb dish.
The property has a charm that only a heritage property can provide.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable to sleep in

Beautiful new hotel, price on the higher side vs what you can get in the island, like Edinbane Inn or Three Chinneys. It should have been 30% cheaper for it to be value for money.

Great location, friendly and helpful owners/staff. We were very grateful when we booked that the owners suggested making dinner reservations ahead of time! Portree has a shortage of restaurants to accommodate everyone.

A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
A location for myths, legends and beautiful nature.
Things to see and do:
1. Plunge your face in the water under Sligachan Bridge for a faerie blessing.
2. Hike up to the old man of Storr.
3. Go to the top of the Bride Veil's Falls and drink a sip for good luck.
4. Visit Talisker (Book months in advance for a distillery tour), but the visitor shop is worthwhile regardless - you can engrave a bottle or draw your own bottle from a cask yourself without a tour.
We spent more time in the surrounding areas than the actual town itself, special sites and nature. The town itself is good for a night or two, but I'd focus my efforts on the landscape of Skye instead of the inside of the shops of Skye.
Be sure to factor in opening times for certain restaurants. Most places have a "no booking" policy, so you can expect to stand in line when wanting to eat out at the recommended places.
Spots to eat that we tried:
- The Lower Deck Seafood (Queue 30min before opening time) located on the harbour side.
- The Isles Inn (Walk-in 30min before you're hungry) with live music almost every night around 21:00ish.
Spots for great coffee:
Talisker - just outside they have Caora Dhubh Coffee Company. Worth the coffee itself if you're after the best cup of coffee in Skye.

Portree is lovely.
Portree is lovely. We visited in early may and the crowds were mostly manageable. I would be a little concerned in the heart of the season. My suggestion to the powers that be would be to consider shuttle busses to the popular sites from centralized collection points; discourage rental cars from driving to the sites independently in some way. The small roads and on-site car parks can become overly crowded. We couldn't get near Quiraing for the traffic on the winding one lane road. In all other respects, Skye and Portree are lovely and a pleasure to visit.

I only spent one night in Portree so my judgement is limited. Even before the tourist season started, it was quite crowded. I can’t imagine what it must be like at the height of the season. Skye is lovely but expensive compared to other locations in Scotland.

Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to...
Skyelight Apartment is at a great location, very near to Portree town centre, maybe 1-minute walk. Nicely furnished, warm and cozy. Note though there is no washing machine. Otherwise, a wonderful accommodation.
Staff are so friendly always smiling ,happy to help and very welcoming. Food downstairs in The Antlers Restaurant is lovely and helpings are good too
.Right in the central square of Portree with shops ,chemist ,pubs, cafes ,coffee shops, post office local buses, tour buses ,taxis etc just right out the front door of the hotel or a few minutes walk If you.
*Advise you to reserve your Dinner Table when making your booking .The restaurant is popular with Islanders and Holiday makers so it can be busy.
Lovely friendly welcome awaited us at the Creagory in Portree. The room was lovely at the back of the house, very quiet and spotless.
Great selection for breakfast and tasty!! Selection offered would put some large hotels to shame.
Slept like a log both nights we stayed bed very comfy but must have been that fresh Highland air. We were at an music festival in the centre of Portree and the Creagory was ideally placed as only ten minute walk from the front.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
I loved everything about this house! It was the favorite place to stay during our stay in Scotland. It was very close to the town of Portree. Very close to the sights we wanted to see in Isle of Skye. The beds were comfy. The living area accommodated all five of us when we needed to relax from our hiking. The kitchen was perfect for us. We even walked the neighborhood and found the neighbors to be friendly to us. My husband said he was beyond pleased with this house.
Alan was such an incredible host! He went above and beyond making sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. He also gave great guidance on itineraries, local bars/restaurants, and more! We kept referring to his website for ideas of what to do on Skye. The location was great -- just a 10-15 min walk into downtown Portree. Highly recommend staying here! We especially loved the view and the breakfast platter in our room.
Excellent location in downtown Portree. Found parking in front of the hotel and had no reason to move it as the whole town is walkable from here. Room was large as well and the town gets relatively quiet at night. One occasion of drunken Scottish signing on the street had us laughing, but other than that it was very quiet. Nearby groceries are an additional plus if you're staying for a couple of days.
Good location in the middle of the higland and near to Portree (10 minutes by car) where you cam found market, pub and restaurants.
It was perfetc for our roadtrip in the higlands.
It’s a camping pod not a hotel room so you don’t expect alle the conmfort that you can found in a usal hotel.
The Staff is fantastic, they were always available from the booking and they help us with all our request
We spent 4 nights here for our Skye trip and everything was absolutely perfect! We really appreciated the milk, eggs, bread, cheese and all the other goodies to start us off before going to the grocery store. Bed was the comfiest out of all the other places we stayed in Scotland. The Isle of Skye was so magical, we hope to come back and wouldn’t hesitate to book here again!
The location of the hotel was perfect, being right on the harbour front and having scenic views throughout the Portree bay. The staff at the hotel reception (Rosedale Hotel) were incredibly friendly and also helped with recommendations for the surrounding area. The accessibility for Wi-Fi and TV in the room was very nice to have and only added to the comfort of the stay.
The location was perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye. The view out the front of the property was amazing. Convenient to Portree for meals and shopping. The lodging was very clean, modern with a pleasant decor. Good wifi. Many nice treats provided for our enjoyment for breakfasts and afternoon teas We appreciated the nice shower with a heated towel rack.
Thank you Rachel and Stuart for our stay, everything was perfect! Great cozy hotel, with an amazing view on the harbour. Close to all the restaurants and Portree must see. We went there for my friend birthday and Rachel and Stuart were kind enough to organise a welcome surprise to my friend. Thank you, we will come back 🏴💙🤍
The quality of the food is superb. The hotel is beautifully furnished and offers fabulous views of Portree and the surrounding landscape.
The pods were spotlessly clean, cosy and very well appointed. We visited the sauna and plunge pool which was relaxing and invigorating.
The bar is beautiful and offers a fine range of whiskies
It is located in the bay with spectacular views of Portree and the loch.
The hotel itself is wonderful. Great amenities, comfortable beds, wonderful staff members, especially Faye and the barman, white name I didn't get.
The restaurant was lovely, and the breakfast more than ample.
I can certainly recommend it Cuillin Hills.
This was a great place to stay on our Isle of Skye tour. The service for check-in and at the restaurant were superb. The room was beautiful, overlooking the bay. The included breakfast was tasty with lots of options to choose from. This is the perfect place in Portree.
In the very touristy Portree the Rosedale Hotel is situated perfect, but due to the many tourists in the harbour area, it might be difficult to get very calm. The restaurant (both for breakfast and dinner) was the best eating place in Portree and very nice service.
Very pleasant hotel and in a good location for walking to the main square in the centre of Portree. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. Was a little bit pricey, but overall, we enjoyed our stay.
The property is in a perfect location to visiting Portree and other wonderful places in Scotland!
Donna is a wonderful hostess! She give great tips on the area and is very responsive to requests!!
