It was so close to the water. Just a quick jaunt. Nice size room. Had hot chocolate. Bed was comfy. It included a bathrobe, nice clean shower, a small heater, and really nice working space.

Easy walking distance of the station. Room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Perfectly located to see the town and beach front. Hosts were lovely and welcoming. Special mention for the efforts they went to when I left a necklace behind in my room. They made arrangements with me so I could get it back which meant a lot due to its sentimental value. Thank you!

Very dated however the staff were very friendly, breakfast was fine, but the location and view from the room's bay window was exactly what needed.

Good location, staff were lovely, food was lovely. Couldn’t have the breakfast I had already paid for in the morning though as there was only one server and was taking too long when I had an appointment to get too.

I have lived in Aber as a student and know some very nice people in the local businesses.
There is a good Police presence. They drive around.
It is generally a good mixed town for students and Welsh longstanding residents who are generally welcoming of tourists.
Lovely indie shops.
Cheaper beer and food than SE England and other airport places.
A good proportion of overseas residents.
Busy builders everywhere and it is looking up.
Lots of heritage to see including King Charles' old university which is being renovated.

Generally clean and safe environment (only visited during day time), plenty of character and amenities. One main downside; very poor parking availability, & very limited parking signage. Most roadside parking, when available, limited to only one hour.

November is not a good time to visit as it is too cold to sit on the prom the cliff railway was not working, the amusements on the pier was shut, the narrow gauge railway is shut the town is full of empty shops. I had a caravan in Borth for over 30 years and used to visit Aberystwyth, which is 8 miles away, 2 or 3 times a week and that is why I booked a few days there this November, a nostalgic visit, but I will not be going back.

I lived here in the 1980s, now my eldest daughter is at University here and she loves it as much as I do. I find it a very artistic and beautiful place, but at the same time there is a lot of fun to be had in the pubs and bars.
We were very happy with our stay at Helmsman Guesthouse, the room was great, very tastefully decorated and the spectacular sea view! Location right opposite the beach could not be better. Thanks to the lovely weather breakfast was served outside in the nice garden. Out of all accommodations during our 2-week-road-trip though England and Wales this guesthouse stands out as one of the best. I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance.
Amazing property with gorgeously appointed rooms and surroundings and top notch shared spaces. It has obviously been renovated fairly recently with really beautiful, modern finishes. Located a short walk from Constitution Hill and the rest of town. Aberystwyth was a hidden gem for us on our journey and this property was an amazing find.
My third visit to this lovely small hotel. The rooms are lovely and comfortable and love the sea and promenade view. Breakfast in the restaurant is very good, although not included in the price of the room. Room rate seems a bit high but location and ambiance keeps me coming back whenever I am in Aberystwyth!
If you’re after a comfortable, quiet stay in a pub/hotel setting then this is the place.
Free parking at the back, lovely food and drink on site and everything there is clean and comfortable.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Close to the middle of town and to everything you could need to enjoy Aberystwyth
The location and facilities are great. The rooms are immaculate and filled with nicety’s. The “help yourself kitchen” is a bonus. I have spent numerous nights here and because of this hotel, Aberystwyth is at the top of my list of places to visit with my family over the coming months.
Perfect location. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were tidy and clean and perfect for a few nights getaway. Local to shops and a stones throw away from the beach. Went to visit Aberystwyth University with my son and was only a 5 minute drive away.
The property is very clean and well organized and taken care of. The staff was helpful. Breakfast was great. It is a great locations for walking the promenade as well as exploring Aberystwyth. The bus and train stations were close by.
Very comfortable and nicely decorated room with a beautiful view of the sea. Helen on the front desk was very friendly and chatty. The breakfast was good. Carpark at the back of the hotel. Great location in the middle of the prom.
Best thing about staying at this hotel was the location. The sea was on its doorstep and only a few minutes walk away from Aberystwyth Cliff Railway. It is also not far from the train station and town, again only walking distance.
Lovely welcoming reception and breakfast waiting staff. Great sized family room. Hotel was easy to find if you are new to Aberystwyth and has free parking. Close to larger shops. Convenient if you are visiting the Uni.
friendliness of staff. checking in was fast. no queueing to check in was a plus. always somebody available if help was required. location of hotel for amenities and seafront was spot on. Lots of praise for that.
The Glengower location is fantastic on the promenade, but without dedicated parking finding a spot nearby was a challenge. Staff at the hotel and nice bar downstairs were very helpful and friendly.
This hotel had a lot of negative reviews but have to be honest I found the hotel in good shape clean tidy with a two minute walk to the front
No issues with parking either
